We always talk about how good Sonic music always is, but it's so easy to forget that behind each OST, there are real talented people with real instruments performing these songs with masterful care. Seeing the behind the scenes of this OST makes me appreciate, not just Sonic music, but video game music as a whole a lot more
It really depends on the game, the budget and the musical genres. I doubt Sonic Mania's soundtrack had any live performances at all, and I think a lot of the neo-orchestral stuff in previous games has relied heavily on sample libraries. This is very impressive to see.
Fr, not just sonic but I've seen other games releasing these bts ost recording sessions, and the passion of every performers behind it. I really wish more people care about video game music, rather than just letting vgm be the niche genre

I am so HYPED. Already pre-ordered this bad boy on my PS5. I cannot wait.
It's justified to be excited for Sonic Adventure 2, but not for this game. Trust me the only semi well received thing this game will end up have being is the music and maybe the storyline going in the right direction, otherwise it looks like Sega just pulled a lazy one.. like they always do I guess
@@shlokwaghela9560 bro shut your goofy ahh up. We get it, you don't like the game, but doesn't mean you have to tell people that they can't be excited.
Frontiers feels like there was actual care and heart put into it so far. Haven't felt that way about a modern Sonic game in a loooooong time. Very excited to play this game
@Buddy Olly The theme for Starfall Islands is maybe one of the best open world themes I've heard. You can tell that there's a lot of love and dedication put to this OST.
Seeing a group of proffesionals coming together to produce and compose an absolutely fantastic song like this never fails to send shivers down my spine, and I mean that in the best kind of way.
So far with Kronos and Ares islands they struck a balance between melodic and ambient, which is great because many open world games go to heavy with minimalistic music.
Forces had a good ost but the problem is that the really good parts happen later in the song and you never hear them because the levels were too short. Also some songs had a good melody but the instruments ruined it, looking at the Classic Sonic music
Props to all the talented musicians for their dedication in this stunning piece. This piece perfectly captured the magical atmosphere of the desert island in this game. It's a great feeling!
I am in love with the vibe of this theme. I always love desert themes in video games and this is absolutely no exception. I'm so excited for this game! Just 6 more days...
Oooh, I love the sound of this! Reminds me a lot of Dusty Desert. I’m glad to hear music like this in Sonic again. Aaagh, you guys are making me super impatient!! Edit: Something else I wanted to mention is how much I love the aesthetic of Ares Island. I grew up in New Mexico, and I gotta say they totally nailed the desert look. Sometimes when looking at the shots of the area in this video, my brain kind of forgets this is from the game and just goes “hey look! It’s home!” and I absolutely love it!
So many strange instruments used here, but it gives us such a rich atmosphere, telling the story of a journey through an endless desert. I really felt lost while listening to this piece of music; and the biome of Ares Island only shows how little we are in comparison to the island. Magnificent!!
Love the more drum & wind vibe, which feels perfect for a desert enviro. Plus, isn't it cool that they showcase this footage of the orchestra alongside slow pans of the game landscape? I find it so refreshing to see the people who create art & thier work is being shown. This is top-tier content. 👃
Tabla and Sitar are instruments that take years to learn and artists from only a select few regions within Pakistan and India play. The fact that this team went out of their way to learn how to play these AND they managed to add in perfect notsalgic feels of a desert in the OST and gameplay (coming from someone who has lived most of childhood in a desert city) shows how much effort and passion Team Sonic has put into this game.
i love these videos that show how the songs were made, it shows how much effort was spent on this masterpiece. i’m not even a fan of instrumental songs but this is a banger!
