- This must be the first SOAD song I probably listened to. I learned about them when they were touring with Metallica back in the summer of 2000, but it wasn't until Toxicity was released that I started listening to them.
In this song, Shavo Odadjian lays down some basic but effective basslines.

I don’t know why I always thought there was a super technical bass line behind this song , maybe it’s just because it’s just a bass heavy and loud song. It kinda bums me out now knowing that the entire part just mirrors the guitar part.

Are you using three finger picking on the high part? I was able to cover this song (not as good as you) with a pick. Do you have any tips on how to develop speed on 3 finger picking?
Yes, I use three finger picking. The only way to build speed, stamina and precision is to start slow, using a metronome, to make sure your plucks are consistent, and little by little build it up. 👊🏻

Do you have any tips for playing a 5 string? I currently have a 4, but looking to expand.
I don’t play a 5 string but the same should apply as to a 6 string bass. You need to learn to be comfortable with a new instrument. These also regularly have less string spacing so you need to adjust your playing to it
You should play this with a pick, have u ever made a cover using a pick?
