    Years ago, I took a class to make my own bras. I was “fitted” with the right cup size, etc. I loved these bras and they fit perfect!! As the bras “became smaller” and I made replacement bras, they never did fit - too big in the cup, next try, too big in the band, etc. etc. I wish I would have had someone to help me know how to make a larger size without “over sizing” the bra to where I could not wear it at all. Now, I wear bras that do not fit right and are not comfortable - wish I still had the lady that taught my class available to ask questions. This was a great video for bra makers.

    When I get a new bra I always adjust to fit then put a few stitches under the slider to stop it from moving.

    Adding a piece of elastic under the underwire section from the outer edges of one cup to the other adds extra stability and prevents slip up. The bra will nestle onto the ribcage and stay put. Elastic with silicone lines , usually labeled as "no roll up" works really well. I think of it like cables on the San Francisco bridge!

    RE: straps. For those who are more well-endowed, skip the stretchy elastic, and go with nice satin. The last thing they need is to bounce more when they move.

    • @BridalSewing

      Look into getting the thin, foam round shells to use as inserts. You don't even have to sew them in. Just tuck them in when you put your bra on. Get... maybe a size C, so the coverage is substantial, and not just like a shield.

    • @jordanwhite5470
      @jordanwhite5470 15 дней назад

      I'm the other way. At a slim DDD, the LAST thing I need is padding.

    • @sunnydoom2726
      @sunnydoom2726 2 часа назад

      The padding isn't about making boobs bigger in this case. It is to hide the nipples from showing. I wear a G cup but I need padding because the high beams are almost always on and it is not a look that I like for myself. Some people like the nipple look. You do you.

      The problem is the tip slowly acts as a drill and drives its way through.
      Dulling the tip with a cap means taking the bra apart, but you may have more luck strengthening the area its rubbing against, or, if you can, adjusting where it does rub.

      @@alicekramden8640 I've had the same problem my entire life, no matter what brand, or what size, the straps always slip down my arms. I've cut the straps where they attach to the band in back and sewn them closer to the center, near the hooks. I've also purchased straps that clip on both of the straps in back and it keeps them from sliding. In a pinch I've cut strips of fabric from an old t-shirt and tied the shoulder straps together, making it almost like a racer back.

    • @ritawhite2070
      @ritawhite2070 16 дней назад +2

      @@kathleenee5698 what came to mind for me is - at the fabric store in the elastic trim department - they had this narrow elastic and on the underside was the stretchable rubber attached as one with the elastic it seemed.
      I asked what this was used for and they told me that you saw it onto the hem line of your stretch, yoga shorts, and it prevents them from creeping up
      Anyway, it would seem that you could purchase this and use it for a bra strap or just so a section of this in the shoulder area onto your bra straps what would prevent the straps from falling off your shoulder?
      Or another idea that comes to mind is on the underside of your bra. Just get some fabric glue and put on the underside of the bra strap that should also prevent slippage.
      I’ve seen where you can take puppy paint that’s in a tube and put it on the bottom of your toddlers socks and put dots all over it because this would prevent the child from slipping on hardwood floors
      Maybe you could just do the underside of the shoulder strap
      Give it a go !

      There is double sided clothing or fabric tape already cut in short links and a narrow width that you can use under your bra strap at the top of your shoulder to hold it in place. It’s very inexpensive, like $8 for a tin of 36. But I am looking forward to her future video using silicone tape! That sounds like the ideal solution.

      And you can buy a roll-on body adhesive to apply to your shoulders or the straps. I get mine from a medical supply retailer and its about 13$ CDN for a deodorant-size bottle. It's used for toupees, medical dressings and for the socks Irish dancers wear! Been using it for about 18 years.

      @@TexasBeliever57 It may just be that your underwire or band size is not the right fit and the underwire does not sit in the right spot on your body. Bra sizing is quite complicated as there are so much variables to juggle - band, cups, wires, straps… There is a term that describes relations between these components - sister sizes. Check it out and maybe you find that a different size fits better. Definitely was the case for me with age and weight changes.

    I thought that putting your bra on properly was to keep your boobs in the cups, are the pushup pads more for when the underwire doesn't sit nicely against the breastroot? (Properly meaning leaning over and scooping.)

    To be honest a lot of these sound like poor fit issues. If you're spilling out the sides of the cups, the cups are too small.

      That can be true. But, when dealing with a $5 bra that is *this* stretchy on the sides, you need to support the sides, & it will affect the shape.

    Or....just buy a decent bra in the first place.

      Im lucky right now to afford a $20 bra right now. I found this purely on accident starting my 3 rd week of bedrest from surgery and have 4 weeks to go since it was a foot surgery. This comes in handy lol. Could use this tutorial to make your own

    If you have to do all this causing more expense in materials and your time, why not just upgrade your bra buying? 🤷‍♀️

    • @BridalSewing
      @BridalSewing  16 дней назад +3

      These upgrades in total would be less than $10.
      $5+$10 < $80

      Wow!! 😱I'm sorry. RUclips decides that. We have some say-so on where they can place them- but they choose the number of them to play. 💔 Thank you for hanging in there!!! 🙏❤️🙏
