OK, now that I've read the concept of the design and seen closer the details of the gown's exquisite haute-couturish embellishment, I appreciate it more than I did on the Preliminary runway where it was VISUALLY rather underwhelming. I was expecting something with greater impact along the level of her gown by the same designer during the BB. Pilipinas 2018. The latter was truly breathtaking especially when it was accessorized by that now-iconic ear cuff. In this video, the Prelim one turns out to have a wonderful color play but because of the stage lighting their vibrancy was greatly muted So viewers like me at home - I obviously don't know about those in the arena - saw only something like burnt orange with a tad of shimmer. I have to say though that this was one case of a beautiful candidate (Catriona!) wearing the dress and slayed with it with her distinctively admirable runway skills than the proverbial dress wearing the wearer. I just wish that it had the visual impact of the color (not the design of the top part nor its decorative elements) of Miss Vietnam''s dress or the cut and beading of Miss Peru's. The latter for me was the winner of the Long Gown Competition and made me open my eyes to the candidate's possibilities. Still Catriona Gray is my girl in this Miss Universe 2018 edition. Knock on wood!

She definitely stood out in the prelims. That orange gown was so refreshing. After seeing all the bold and daring colors you see from the other candidates, this one is a breath of fresh air. Her hair was plain straight, her gown wasn't too striking, but the way she walked and carried that dress is stunningly beautiful. I could not take my eyes off of her.

Actually what i loved most is the story of the dress...ibong adarna..and i loved this story in panitikang pilipino which was written in patula....when i was in h .school... to be honest at first...d ko mgets yung drama ng dress...now the only thing i can say is wow...siguro if i hve a chance that i can see it in actual..ill do it...!!!!!though some foreigners seems not like it..but i dont care less....!!!!
The making of the gown is amazing plus her way of walking on stage was fabulous. My husband said they trained her well of that because she came out with that walk passionately with smile.
Mak Tumang is a legend. This gown has a very classy look but it would have stood out more if it were in Charoite Lavender color. I just hope the succeeding miss universe candidates from the Philippines tap into the creative genius of Mak Tumang, including their current candidate, Rabiya Mateo.
