I'm also interested if you think I should do another one of these "30 Year" franchises? If so, what team and game should I do next?
I have been devouring your content over the last few days. There's so much you can do with these old Maddens, and the way you present your content is extremely entertaining
Yes, do another one of these. What team? I dunno... maybe the Redskins? I'd like to see them good for once. lol Yes, I know the team name changed. I hate it, wish they kept the older one, so I'll always refer to them as the Redskins and not the Commanders. I kinda like the idea of my (small) Native ancestry having representation on a National (if not international) scale.

It actually all started with this game or about. Once Madden started doing "Legendary Player" Tokens that really opened up the way for Ultimate Team. Then Fifa started putting all their resources into Ultimate Team, and EA chose this method for Madden as well. Thus taking away from the long form offline modes.
@@dovovanstarling9431I agree with you… I have every game from 2003 to 17, and up until roughly 25, the games really do feel amazing… My favorite is either 08 on the PS2 or 11 on the PS3
I used to play this game like 6 day a week or so for a total of like an average of 30-40 hours a week back when I was like 12/13 hard to believe this was like 22 years ago! 🤯
It’s 3 am for me @ the moment. I’m 1 hour and plus into this video.. it’s year 15.. I work in about 6 hours and still haven’t slept.. fml. Great video though.
Post 1 To quote and summarize Wikipedia as background information: • In the real expansion draft, teams placed many quality players on the list who had large contracts, as the Texans were required to assume the contracts of those players if selected. The list included 155 NFL players, 25 of whom were Pro Bowl players. Each NFL team listed five players that the Texans could select, and the Texans were required to claim either 30 players or $27.2 million in contracts (38% of the 2002 salary cap). • The Texans were prohibited from selecting a player from a team and trading the player back to that club. Existing teams were not allowed to put punters or kickers on the list, nor any player from their 2001 roster who would have become an unrestricted free agent in 2002. They could not list players who went on injured reserve during the 2001 summer's training camp nor any player who would become a restricted free agent after the 2001 season. Their list could include only one player with more than 10 years' experience. • Some teams used the expansion draft as a way to eliminate expensive veteran players from their salary caps, because the Texans assumed the contracts of the players they selected, including all future portions of their signing bonuses and any guarantees or other terms. Notable players that teams exposed to the draft included five-time Pro Bowler Tony Boselli, Randall McDaniel, and Willie Roaf. The Jets left Aaron Glenn unprotected although it wanted to keep him, because the team hoped that the Texans would not want Glenn's $8 million salary-cap figure for 2002. • The Texans would make 19 selections, two of whom would become pro-bowl players for the Texans: Arron Glenn and DT Gary Walker. In Madden 2002, as shown in the video, the game only offers the worst players with no thought to the salary cap. If one were to want to do a more realistic run, I would suggest taking control of all 31 teams and just set many of their coaches settings to be automaed. This would allow you to place players into the expansion draft in a more realistic way.
Yo man I watched this on and off for a few days and let me just say it was a very fun to watch. Your editing is great and makes it a breeze to sit through and the menus of this game are just easy to look at. I'm looking forward to more videos. Falk, Double J and Wayne Wright are some legends!

It would be great if you did a small review of each post season. It was neat to see who made it to your games, but knowing who competed with your team in the rebuilding process would have taken this to the next level. Early on it seemed like Cleveland was your competition, but then Miami and New England turned into the rivals.
Wow, i would love to know what settings you were using to emulate the game. It looks really fun on the field. 2002 may be the Madden Ihad the most fun with back in the day. It would be hard to describe why it had a fun factor the ones after started lacking.

@dyn-chise I was seeing the yearly request from skill players in the later years of your series and it's on par with what they ask for today. Pretty cool. But the cap is definitely a problem in totality. Haha.
Post 2 [much shorter] Apart from controlling an otherwise automated 31-team franchise, I would have made Dom Capers the Panthers coach [which he did in real life from 1995 to 1998]. The real life HC of the Panthers for 2001, George Seifert, would be fired and then would retire for a second time, which would have accomplished multiple things: Get rid of Seifert from the coaching pool, allow the Panthers to hire a new HC, and allow you to take Dom to the Texans.

@@dyn-chise VERY MUCH so. That's why I tuned them, as I sim every game. In that 7-year 49ers franchise, you can see the direct impact on QB accuracy, tackles/broken tackles, WR agressively going for catches and staying in bounds vs drops, knockdowns, QB pressure, and so forth. I tuned them quite well to the point that you can see the value of the different ratings. The same is true for all of these retro football games. I set the quarter length to get the average number of offensive plays per game, and with sliders tuned to gice me animations and interactions which respect the ratings differences, it results in very realistic / understandable stats and outcomes.
