Pretty impressive to imagine that the BBC dedicated a tv special to a German sportsman who had just beaten a British driver for the second time in a row - gives a sense of how special Schumi was in 1995 already. Long before his Ferrari legacy made him a legend!
Surprisingly Schumacher had a lot of British fans, some people here loved him. In actually fact Hill wasn't that popular, many people thought he was boring.
The funny thing is when this doc was made he was only still two times world champion but all the signs were there people from beginning understood that he is something special
And NONE of his wins were earned. He just got lucky both times. He tried racing in the US but was fired before the season ended. That's all I need to know. PS: When he vacated the seat at Benetton in 1996, Gerhard Berger inherited it and said he couldn't believe how fucking awful the car was. It was so difficult to drive that Berger spun out in his very first warm up session with the car. Nevertheless, he somehow mastered it within only six months and mark my words, if the goddamn engine hadn't quit, he would have won in Germany. He got his revenge the following year and destroyed his rivals in one of the craziest wins I've ever seen. Nobody seemed to be able to fight him. He just sliced through like they weren't there! LOL.
Hebert contradicted himself when saying that and at the end he said Michael was 1st-6st and the rest just be7th, 8th,... meaning Michael was far ahead of the rest.
Obviously current drivers have say whatever they can to seem equal or not intimated. He has to say that, to give the impression. Herbert got a raw deal at Benetton too, the car was designed for Schumacher and they refused to change Jonnys car to suits him. I don't think Herbert inheriting a couple wins is particularly bad either, almost all drivers who have won a race have done so from attrition or the guy in front going off. So while its obvious that Herbert and Brundle weren't in Michaels league they were still great drivers.
Martin Brundle I beat him you can beat him. 1992 quali score 16 to 0 for Schumacher. In the race you only finished ahead of him 3x. Brundle go do stand up you're quite good at it.
Hold on a second. He finished ahead of Michael 7 times. If you're not gonna count DNFs that that just wrong. He finished ahead of Michael 3 times, only when Michaelf finished the race too, but that's the worst logic I've ever heard. So if I finish behind Brundle then Brundle wins but if I crash out then it doesn't count? Give your head a shake. Michael was better than Martin, Martin has never denied that, but he was still a bloody good driver too. He had 5 podiums that year. You don't do that if you're useless. What let him down was qualifying, but he's first to admit that, because in race mode they were alot closer. That's why Brundle won Le Mans and those other long distance disciplines, because he never excelled over 1 lap, but had very good race pace.
@@Phoenix1664 the thing is that blundle benefited from schumacher dnfs because he was behind him.schumacher didnt gain anything from blundle retirements because he was ahead of him anyway. blundle was nowhere near schumacher even in race pace.3 times he finished ahead of schumacher because of unfortunate events that happened during the race to schumacher and not because he had better race pace.blundle is just bitter because he got desoyed by a rookie and talked completely nonsense when he said i beat him.no you didnt martin, you got destroyed by a rookie and you lost your position in benneton.

He even said in his "Beyond the grid interview" (which is actually on youtube), that brundle was the only team mate that was close to Michael on race pace. Michael smashed him in Qualy that's true, but he smashed everyone back then. Brundle was not as fast as michael, but, who was!? Senna and Mika, and that's it!!! It wasnt until Alonso came along 13 years later that somebody was outright quicker than him.(or possibly Raikkonen). Brundle had really solid consistent race pace, which put him in a good position towards the end of races. And what you've said is wrong, he overtook Michael at canada on the last corner for 2nd, and was closing in on challenging Gerhard for the win, until his gearbox failed. Michael inherite 2nd because of that. When the season was all said and done, he finished 14 points behind Michael. Not half bad I'd say. I obviously wouldn't claim Brundle was Championship material, but he was a really good driver and deserves credit as such.

It's clear that sentence was alluding to his style. I can understand how people misheard or misunderstood his context, the white noise in the background is pretty loud.

Brundle: "I beat Schumacher in the last 12 races". Sure you did Martin, let's see: - Brundle retirements in those 12 races: 1. - Schumacher retirements in those 12 races: 4. Mmm 🤔, funny. So let's compare the obvious: - Championship points awarded to them in the races THAT BOTH OF THEM FINISHED from those last 12 races: Brundle -> 25, Schumacher -> 30. 😮😮😮!! Where you manipulating data to your convenience, Martin Brundle??? So, while not being a by a huge difference, when they both finished races it was actually Schumacher the one who would mostly end up on top. Let's consider some additional facts from that season: - Final championship points that season: Brundle -> 38, Schumacher -> 53. - Final championship standings that season: Brundle -> 6th, Schumacher -> 3rd (above the one and only Ayrton Senna). - Season victories: Brundle 0, Schumacher 1. - Race head to head: Brundle 7 vs 9 Schumacher. - Qualifying head to head: Brundle 0 vs 16 Schumacher (hahaha ohhhh Martin). - First full season in formula one: Brundle 1984, Schumacher 1992!! @@flipflop4396 your point? Rosberg raced a washed up Schumacher, but nobody says Rosberg was the best driver of all time. It doesn't matter. 92 was 92 and that's that.
Does anyone know who did the music?
People here need to listen to Herbert's exact words: "Well it's nothing sort of extra special." Then he proceeds to compare the driving STYLES of various drivers, not their talent. It's clear that sentence was alluding to his style. I can understand how people misheard or misunderstood his context, the white noise in the background is pretty loud.
27:13 Amen, abt what she said when Hill went in collision with Schumacher at SIlverstone '95.

Schumacher was a stellar driver. But him turning into Damon for a second time in Adelaide 1994 will - sadly - forever stain his legacy.
I don't think so. He had 40 points taken off him and it was a big F U to the FIA for trying to liven up the title.
Should never have come to the last race.
The FIA was so rigged 1994. They tryd everything to get t he Title to Hill. Schumacher won 8 of his 11 Races he could score. Hill is a cunt and the worst F1 Champ in the History with Villeneuve.
The FIA did things not worthy of a governing body in 1994, I agree (as they did in 1989).
But what makes Hill a "cunt"?
FIA tryed to gift title to Hill
Schumacher hates the fact Hill was as quick as him even though Schumacher had cheats on his car as senna had suspected. Those cars in the mid 90’s looked like formula 3 cars.....they looked crap
Does somebody know the title of the song at 32:16 ?

Brundle: "I beat Schumacher in the last 12 races". Sure you did Martin, let's see:
- Brundle retirements in those 12 races: 1.
- Schumacher retirements in those 12 races: 4.
Mmm 🤔, funny. So let's compare the obvious:
- Championship points awarded to them in the races THAT BOTH OF THEM FINISHED from those last 12 races: Brundle -> 25, Schumacher -> 30. 😮😮😮!! Where you manipulating data to your convenience, Martin Brundle???
So, while not being a by a huge difference, when they both finished races it was actually Schumacher the one who would mostly end up on top. Let's consider some additional facts from that season:
- Final championship points that season: Brundle -> 38, Schumacher -> 53.
- Final championship standings that season: Brundle -> 6th, Schumacher -> 3rd (above the one and only Ayrton Senna).
- Season victories: Brundle 0, Schumacher 1.
- Race head to head: Brundle 7 vs 9 Schumacher.
- Qualifying head to head: Brundle 0 vs 16 Schumacher (hahaha ohhhh Martin).
- First full season in formula one: Brundle 1984, Schumacher 1992!! So everything I mentioned happened with Schumacher being an inexperienced rookie.
You weren't a bad driver, Martin Brundle, actually you were good, but don't try to give yourself more credit than you deserve.

@@bartman01021988 Not in the races that they both finished, if you don't care about Dnf's then we have to look at the entire season and Schumacher destroyed brundle.
@@bbbazzinga well no shit sherlock but fact is brundle still outscored him.and you realise a few of his dnf were from driving errors by schumacher.if you dont finish a race due to spinning off then sorry but you have no excuse.
Let me help you guys, the whole line of arguments is completely irrelevant. No F1 Fan would seriously argue if Schumacher or Brundle was better. In 95 that rivalry may have still seemed interesting (I don’t even think it was at the time), but in hindsight you are comparing a 91 vs 0 race winner.
