    Liverpool fan here. From an LFC point of view, the argument of City breaking the rules had weight when we were getting 97 points and missing out on a title against a team that spent like 400million pounds more. At this moment, and everything that came from that Real Madrid final defeat onwards, it’s just our team failing to get over the line. It’s really sad but we went from doubters to believers to doubters.

    Its telling that both Liverpool and Arsenal fans are deflated because the levels to win the PL are just insane now. Neither Liverpool nor Arsenal have got where they are with financial doping, City have and it shows because that edge it gives them is more than any club playing by the rules will ever be able to achieve. Liverpool have lost to City twice with points totals that have won the league in any other year of existence, it's just stupid at this point and whats the point of following the PL.

    • @banjoguy9000
      @banjoguy9000 6 месяцев назад +3

      I would've gotten that argument during the 18/19 title race when Liverpool narrowly missed out while spending much less (even then their transfer budget was nothing to scoff at). But to say Arsenal don't have the edge City do when they've substantially outspent them in the last 5 seasons makes no sense. And that's without mentioning clubs like United and Chelsea that have always had the same budget as City at their disposal yet rarely if ever competed for the title.
      It's okay to criticise City for their UAE ownership or the FFP non-compliance, but discrediting a good management structure and a hardworking team and coaching staff by watering it down to "they just had more money" is unsubstantiated.

    • @ThatK1dTom
      @ThatK1dTom 6 месяцев назад

      @@banjoguy9000agreed Arsenal have spend heavily (with mixed results) and have little to show for it but it wasn't pumped in by a Nation state, it was from them being a brand built on tradition and past successes. City are only where they are because they had insane levels of money pumped in to make them appealing to master managers like Pep and his team behing the scenes as they had no history and were crap. Without UAE none of this happens and City are still that other team in Manchester. They have cheated to where they are and now are reaping the rewards off it. My point is that Liverpool, have spent and operated within the rules exceptionally, Arsenal, have run things very well to turn a sinking ship, Chelsea and United have wasted resources although they haven't got to this position by cheating financially (at this point in time, Todd Boehly is an idiot), but City have unlimited resources, they have cheated and cut corners to where they need to be to attract the best management and now are untouchable because of it. They shouldn't.be in this position, hence what is the point of trying you can't win, the system is broken.

    • @banjoguy9000
      @banjoguy9000 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@ThatK1dTom the issue with what you're saying is that you make an arguably valid point (City's Success is in big part down to a massive takeover by stinking rich owners) but arrive to a wrong conclusion (the game is rigged and no one else can win it).
      Yes City have been pumped with money by their new owners and you can argue about whether such big takeovers are bad for football or not. However, you can't say City's new owners gave them advantages other teams didn't possess. In fact I would argue the opposite, that until recently City was at a disadvantage compared to its rivals (minus Liverpool) since it had to compete with teams that had the same type of budget as City and the pedigree of being a historically successful team. The fact that the other teams were successful for longer made it harder, not easier for City to compete.
      For example, the pool of players the could sign in their first 4-5 seasons was very limited compared to who Arsenal, United or Chelsea could sign, since many players would be unwilling to join such a project no matter how much they were paid. They also had to limit themselves to signing average mid-table managers until Mancini came.
      And regarding Pep joining them, it had less to do with money (United were also seeking him and had the same financial ability) and more with them being the most promising option he had (United were a mess both structurally and on the pitch while Liverpool had already signed Klopp). City 's board of director consisting of people Pep had worked with, remarkably txiki, also played a major role.
      Also regarding Chelsea saying they never cheated is disingenuous since you can only say that because FFP rules didn't really exist then. Let's not forget during Abramovic's first year Chelsea spent 3 times the transfer record in a single window, then proceeded to spend the same amount the very next window

    • @ThatK1dTom

They won't get touched because it becomes a matter of national politics as they are a nation state. They should be sent to the bottom of the football pyramid but obviously that won't happen...also we aren't talking about United or Chelsea here it's deflecting from the actual issue. City are cheats, they have profited from cheating, they will not fail because they took such an insane advantage, football is broken now because it doesn't punish cheaters, case closed.

    TBH, my view is that City winning the league isn’t making the league boring. What’d make it boring is if there’s no real competition and there’s a gargantuan gap ahead of second place like what’s usually the case with PSG. The fact that Arsenal and Liverpool are still so close (and can overtake Man City because they’re in the FA Cup semifinals this weekend 4/15/24) means that things still aren’t over barring a major collapse like Arsenal in 2023.
    If anything, the competition makes the skills of City’s roster (namely guys like KDB and Erling Haaland) and Pep’s tactical acumen look even MORE impressive and it helps us appreciate their accomplishments as much as City fans just enjoying the ride do.
    I’m willing to bet that in a decade from now, we’re going to see this Man City era like how we see Man United in the 90s and Arsenal and Chelsea in the 2000s: some of the best talent the English game has ever seen, players AND manager

    From what we know, it could be pure bologni and the person that made them up just pulled the numbers out of their ass. However, if city are found guilty, then chelsea definitely infringed on FFP aswell, and I wouldn't be surprised if the other few clubs that have outspent city have infringed on FFP. Arsenal and Man United over the last 10 years have both spent more than most realise.
    At the same time, FFP itself is a very unfair system, as it really just exists to protect winning clubs more than it helps smaller clubs, a better idea would be to introduce a wage cap, but that is never happening.

      The Crown prosecution service wouldn't press charges without sufficient evidence, unless they think they can take the chance of circumstantial evidence, and in civil court you have discovery, where both parties are legally allowed access to all data relevant to the case.
      Not cooperating could be as much as providing all financial information so some poor soul has to sit and doom scroll through everything, rather than just providing the relevant information alone

Apart from 2 seasons I don't remember City completely dominate the league. Liverpool has always been there, not winning 2 times just by 1 point. Winning one. Last season arsenal were there till the end but they lost momentum. This season there are 3 clubs. One loss for both arsenal and Liverpool doesn't mean the race is over and the race could go till the last match. If this is not competitive then i don't know what is. City never dominated. In the 18/19 season, City had 98 points and Liverpool had 97. Then in the 21/22 season, City has 93 and Liverpool had 92. Even in the ucl final they only won 1-0 against Inter and that only because Lukaku decided to pull of the worse performance in his entire career in the biggest game of his entire career. If they are stripped from all the trophies, then Liverpool would have 22 (2014, 2019 and 2022) and United would have 23 (2012, 2018 and 2021). United would get another FA Cup (2023). Liverpool would get their 2016 Carabao cup. Liverpool would also get the 2019 community shield. Watford would have an FA Cup to their name (2019). And Inter would have a 4th ucl. If this happens, then Liverpool would be benefited the most.

    Man city fan since 2011 here. Was 6 years old when good old city beat qpr and it made an impression of me. Ever since pep walked in and demolished half the team i held dear, since the spirit of the team before had gone, my interest in city slowly diminished. Nowadays, not winning by a massive margin against clubs, because the quality of the team is so high, leaves me disappointed. A loss leaves me disappointed. The only time in the last 5 years as a city fan i have been happy was when we beat real madrid - the only time i have felt like a true football fan. I think city are guilty and are mildly hopeful that it all gets torn down as because when it does, we will need to start again, and work from new. But i also know that it just wont happen. A massive amount of money circulates around man city, an amount which can afford to pay off the entire FA, maybe even buying the league. And a league without man city will be a league without significant competition. Other teams lose titles due to bad luck, a mixture of a variety of circumstances. But as a city fan, i am so programmed to expect success it doesnt even matter to me anymore whether we win or lose, because it doesnt matter anyway, theres a team so immortal in there it will just contend again next year, or the year after. The money will bring in another grear coach, more great talents, theyll keep buying more clubs to make a giant scouting conglomeracy, a massive talent pool, and become in effect a football empire. People fail to recognise it sometime when we buy players from girona or elsewhere, these are just internal transfers 😂 this game is so fucked

    For me the 115 charges are just the icing on the cake. My primary reason for hating clubs like man city or psg is that they quite literally bought the success withmoney they didnt earn. Im a bayern fan and god i love the Bundesliga and i would never in a million years want to change for the prem. Bundesligas 50+1 rule is the best thing to ever exist. It literally forbids that an individual or a company can own more than 49% of a club, meaning that the club will always be in the hand of the fans and no investor or owner can dictate anything. Bayern munich are a very strong team, but every € they spend had to be earned. They cant just splash cash that they dont own, just like every other german professional team cant. Every attempt to cheat the system (especially RB Leipzig) are passionately hatet by every Bundesliga fan to the point where every football fan in germany who isnt from Leipzig or under the age of 12 wants them to kill themself. Bundesliga has a level playing field and nobody has an unfair advantage. The prem has sold their soul for marketing succes and it shows big time. I love the Bundesliga

    for me it's simple. I hate constant winners because they became boring. I don't wanna watch Ligue when at September I know that 90% who is winner and when I see at end that he is the winner.
    Doesn't matter who is.
    Why no one watched Bundes ligue because Buyern was winner for 10 years.
    Calco was fun because there were so many winners and so many competitive teams. Juventus, Roma, Milan, Inter, Lacio... and add others.
    Premier ligue had United Chelsie, Arsenal competing than Liverpool even throw challenge from time to time. and in Primera we had Real, Barca and Atletico now, Valencia Deportivo back than. It's fun to see teams fight.
    On top of that you add that City has way bigger budget, and buy who they want it's not interesting. IT was fun to watch Liverpool, Arsenal, City race, and even Liverppol, City race with both teams getting to almost 100 points, like Real and Barca did on start of 2010s.
    But we need some title swapping. We need to see one team going up and down, City actually has no up and downs for few years, they are constant all time. These is bigger boring thing, they drop point there and there but they are never in crisis, they are never on roller-coaster, just constant class of player and manager.

It’s like creating a save on career mode or fm with the richest club in the world, you’ll win everything and make great signings but it gets boring so quickly.
    They also do this while playing football which summarises what everyone hates about the modern game. It’s slow and repetitive in the majority of matches with team dynamics restricting a lot of their players for the system to be more effective. It’s not Manchester Citys fault… you won 1/3 UCL finals you played in. The one UCL you won was a miracle against one of the worst Barcelona sides in recent years, and 9/10 they would have gone through, it was a bad day.
      Liverpool cannot compete against clubs like City and Madrid, they’re just on a whole other level. They beat Tottenham in the final, no history in the UCL, and lost to actual Champions, Real Madrid, twice. It took a Covid season for Liverpool to win their first premier league title in 30 years because they just get tired at the end of the just as Arsenal was last season. The difference between 1-2 points is just how badly they wanted it, and City wanted it more. The mentality of those clubs are just stronger than Liverpool, that’s all.
      Any other era we would talk about them like we talk about Barcelona in 2008-2012, or Real Madrid 2016-2018, Ac Milan 1988-1990. But unfortunately, this will be remembered as the City era.

    I am a City fan and I understand a lot of the hate. Sering someone else dominating your league for years without you being able to beat them in the title race is frustrating. I also understand why people do not like us because we have recieved a lot of charges. One thing that even find really frustrating is the multiclub ownership, it does defeat the feeling of "your club" a little because it becomes more of a business than I football club. If you hate Man City or love Man City is a matter of opinion in the end. If the allegations are true then we should face punishment, but I won't leave my club regardless of any punishent we could get. Thank you for listening to my little rant, have a great week.

    About 25 years ago, a few of us had a point. The clubs, mainly Manchester United, started to receive insane revenue from the Champions League. It's fine to reward winning, however, this is when clubs, ManU, Milan, Real, etc.....could pay over $10million for a player. Look at history of transfers......whole clubs were under $10m...but then Ferdinand (for example) goes for $27m~~~. Its bonkers money and only a few clubs could match that Chelsea did with hundred millions pumped in with Abramovich. Not having a salary cap made this happen, and the only way anyone else could ever get top players was hundreds of millions kicked in. This is my brief condensed explanation. As for City, how anyone thinks City will gain 115 points in a season is really crazy

  • @Chickenbarbeque
    @Chickenbarbeque 7 месяцев назад +9

    If city do win this league by 1 point, people might want to think about poor var decisions throuought the season and how they affected the result. Man citys success will always be tainted by their shady background. Ngl as a united fan I wanted arsenal to win it but to be honest, city gonna make it 4 in a row
    Ps: How about something like a coaches challenge in basketball, where managers can have a certain amount of challenges they can make to refereeing decisions. This would decrease the amount of bad calls. Sure, it would increase the time refs needed,but if they can use var the way ucl do, this could really help.

      @@Ballotubieproblem is, every other team can say the same. Refereeing this season has been horrific, and the pgmol really need to do something about it. Refs take ages to make simple var decisions, and still get them wrong. Look at the ucl, var barely takes any time there and compared to the epl, the difference is night and day.

    I think its moments like these that decides the title winners. City had come back from losing positions twice to lift the trophy in previous seasons(referring to QPR and Villa games). Liverpool and Arsenal lost their games, and basically gave up their lead to City.
    Arsenal and Liverpool lose thier home games and Manchester City gets the hate. Its the same narrative going on for years. City have problems during the earlier months of the season, while some other teams are playing exceptionally well and they write City off. But during the business end of the season, City sort their problems and win at cluth moments.

    As a football club, it can’t be denied City are very well run one and deserve their success. Money talks in football and other clubs spend huge, huge sums like City. But as an enterprise, how City’s success has been created
    seems very dodgy, reeking of sportswashing and financial doping while bringing the integrity of the league into disrepute as their lawyers drag out the FFP charges (not a good look even if the cases of Everton and Forest are completely different). Pep Guardiola’s football team will be regarded as great but they’ll never be validated and respected because of what’s happened off-field, no matter how many trophies they win.

  • @EhtesamUddinPrince

    I think every era of dominance is boring if you wanna put it this way.
    No one seemed to think barcelona 2009-2012 was boring tho since they were playing beautiful football same here with city
    and even tho football has changed and it's become more of a managerial game and full of tactics and involving less individual brilliance
    I think the game right now has better qualities compared to older times and it makes for a better watch all around. just rewatch some games from 15 years ago they were awful to watch...you'll see legends like xavi iniesta messi ronaldo zidane just booting the ball for the 10th time wide off the mark in a single match
    and I don't care if city are playing it unfair(in terms of having fun watching it ofc, ik no one wants a game to be unfair)
    as long they are the team making beautiful football I'll enjoy watching them
    and to everybody that thinks the era of individual greatness is over in football

      Maybe because it wasn't ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN CHARGES! And they actually cooperated with the investigation. There's also far more extenuating circumstances in their situation than just blatantly inflating revenue so you can spend more.
      Finally, you're Man City. Not Everton who has won fuck all, or Nottingham Forest who just got back into the Premier League. Man City who have won basically every trophy you can in the past decade and won the league 6/7 years. Of course people don't feel as bad for you.
