It’s nice to getaway from the UK when the country is still in mourning. Paris is only 3-hour Eurostar ride away from London, so why not leave the city until life returns to normal? At least the French no longer have to deal with the weddings and funerals of royalties. They ended their monarchy during the French Revolution. Vive la France !
I have had the opportunity to stay at le Meurice on several occasions. The first time I was there, I fell incredibly ill. The staff could not have been kinder or more thoughtful. The concierge went to the pharmacie and bought me some meds. Then she told the kitchen of my plight and they made me food that is not on the menu (sick person food - very plain). The maids would run a bath for me while they cleaned the room and changed the (sweaty) sheets. It was what keeps me staying there every time I visit Paris. Even the doormen are delightful - when I leave through the front door they asked what I'm up to that day and when I return, if I have shopping bags, they ask what I bought. Yes, the rooms are gorgeous and their restaurants have historically been fantastic, but their service is what I love most about them.
Wow how sweet! If you told a hotel in America that you were sick they would probably just say "oh, so sorry. Please go to your room and maybe stay there so you don't get anyone else sick."
Fun fact : if the Haussmannien street are so large, it's because the narrow street were easily blocked by people protesting in the street. So when destroying and re-building the city they made boulevards and avenues instead of streets
You're absolutely right, not everybody can afford this. But why would that mean you can't have it, even if you CAN afford it? And more important, why wouldn't you be allowed to film this and share it with everyone who wants to see it BECAUSE they can't afford it? I LOVE it when people who CAN afford it actually show us things we wouldn't have seen otherwise! Thank you VERY much!
I always thought that after reaching a certain level (comfy bed, private bathroom, wi-fi, maybe a tv, good hygiene) a hotel room is just a hotel room. There is a difference between tiny pig sty and a nice, cheap room, but not as much between nice, cheap room and an apartament in five-star hotel. I mean if there is a bed, it's private, has a bathroom, and is generally clean - it's just as good as a hotel room can get.
I actually 100% agree. I personally choose to stay in fairly cheap hotels because after a certain point it’s not that different. Although, to be fair, that was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept on in my life 😭
Yes, but it's the service that sets a really fine hotel apart from a nice hotel. Personally, I usually stay in "good" hotels, but not really fancy ones. I've stayed in nice hotels and it IS fun, but for the most part, you're absolutely correct ... you just need a good, clean place to stay. I HAVE however, become addicted to the "premium" section of some of the ships when I go on a cruise .... MSC Yacht Club in particular has GREAT service and amenities and the best value for money "premium" service of any cruise line I've used. I rationalize it because I get a great vacation with first-class service, food, drinks, etc. for a fraction (per day) that a hotel like le Meurice would cost me. And I get to travel around in the hotel.
Love this comment. I also discovered this at some point. I was capable to go into fancier hotels in different parts of the world (with that I mean in the US and Europe it is way too expensive for my taste) and I came to realize that I do not spend much time in a hotel room or enjoy all the features of the hotel anyways. Personally, I prefer to stay in Airbnbs/something equivalent when traveling for work, in that way I can cook while traveling, pull out my laptop at a desk, look around in residential areas during a break, and crash on a couch after a heavy day when needed. To get the same at a hotel, you need an executive or business suite (which takes away that homey feeling).
I stayed in a fancy hotel by accident while booking something in Japan. We didn't really care since we stayed 1 night in that location so we didn't mind splurging. We didn't expect it to be a luxury hotel to be honest, we where shocked when we arrived. The rest of our stay, we used ryokans (youth hostels, much much cheaper and a lot less fancy). We felt so out of place with all the rich people. You could tell by how they dressed vs how we did, clearly we weren't on par with the richness! It was the best restaurent I've ever eaten at too!
Wow you did not oversell that bathroom! it was HUGE especially for a hotel room bathroom. Though I was amused by your comment about never seeing a bathroom with 2 sinks. Those are reasonably common in newer American homes in the mid-to-high end price range. :)
I (an American) starter watching you 2 hours ago, at 8:00 am in the morning on a Friday. Im supposed to be working (I work from home billing insurance claims) but I am watching you, video after video because you got me hooked and I cant focus on my work. You are so genuine and its refreshing to watch. I subbed to your channel. Thank you for making content for all of us to enjoy.
Having slept in just about every kind lodging imaginable, I've determined that cleanliness, comfortable bedding, and access to clean water is all I really need. If I'm awake I'm out seeing the sights so fancy accouterments in a room are wasted on me. If a person prefers a 5 star hotel for whatever reason I see nothing wrong with it though.
I'm quite surprised that alot of the things that you saw in the bathroom (and the closet) aren't normal in the uk.. They are very much normal where I'm from. Also the "shower" next to the toilet is to wash your ass/wash off the shit that stays stuck in the toilet and doesn't get flushed down.
Okay so the sleeping area of the room is pretty standard for a luxury hotel, BuuUuUUUt the bathroom is incredible, especially for a hotel of such age. Really nice!
You're very sweet Ellbat; I would think that most of your viewers would simply appreciate you for showing them a cool place they have never been before.... No worries.... ☺️🌹

i found your channel years ago and you became one of my youtubers i watched everythime u posted. then i lost you. years later i have found you again and im so happy. i love your videos and your personality
I cracked up at the part about judging people's wealth by the number of chairs they have. I have 2 chairs in my entire home. One chair in my living room, which is literally the ONLY piece of sitting furniture in it - no sofa, no loveseat, nothing. And the computer desk chair that I am currently sitting in. Would have loved to see the rest of the hotel!
Your face while eating the chocolate was priceless! Like your tongue jumped out of your mouth and slapped you right across the face with pure ecstasy 😊
I love paris, it is my favourite city in the world. I've lived there and i read quite a lot of books about the golden age of Paris. The two parises are massively different. I think it is a shame that people often expect the book and movie version of the city while it is such an amazing city all by itself.
10000%, I love Paris. Something that's so sad to me is that Paris is genuinely this cultural hub - with incredible music, food and art, but because so many go into it with expectations that every building will be like Le Meurice, they leave disappointed - despite being surrounded by beauty. It's an impossible standard that's been spread by books and media for decades; look up "Paris Syndrome", it really is wild !!!
@@Ellbat Wow I just looked it up, that is insane! Massive disappointment manifesting physically and mentally. I wouldn't be surprised if this syndrome is expanding rapidly to other places that are portrayed on social media as perfect locations (bali comes to mind).
I was holding my cup of warm tea and i said loudly "dah F...!!!" when you said the tic tac was 7 euro.I am happy you fulfilled my desire of trying that chocolate because just by seeing it for a moment, it looked damm delicious and expencive. This hotel room has more space storage than 90% of houses in Dublin.
I honestly so appreciate you being considerate of your viewers’ perception of a bougie hotel review in the current financial circumstances. I somewhat understand the escapism of these sort of videos, but it really doesn’t sit well with me when RUclipsrs don’t even slightly touch on the world events, makes me feel so disconnected like they’re from a better planet, our worldly struggles can’t reach them. So yes, thank you!
Paris is honestly massively overhyped, like its a really nice city, a great city, worth a visit!(if you manage your expectations) but the amount of romanticisation of Paris going on on SoMe and in movies n stuff is insane
Yes!!!! This!!! I adore Paris - but the obsession with old school opulence gives people a super skewed idea of the reality of Paris. It’s a home to over 2 million people - of course it’s not going to be a perfect, untouchable relic of old money paris. But that doesn’t mean it’s not wonderful !! 💜
I love that people love the little things some hotel rooms have, like fruits, chocolates and water. Sometimes flowers. Because those aren’t that expensive even if they are. 4 peaches? 1,2 euros? Fancy chocolates, maybe 20 cents a piece of bought in big batches. Water, maybe 1 euro wholesale? And well that many flowers are maybe 5 euros in wholesale, or 10? So over all around 10-15 euros + work that goes into managing them.
I absolutely love seeing hotel rooms, and as this would definitely be beyond my budget, it was amazing to see it and live vicariously through you! What a sexy, gorgeous room ❤ I’d love to see this as a series….
im french so there's a part of me that loves that you're talking about Paris and French history but also im french so of course i want to yell at everything french and especially parisian lol
Thank you so much Ellbat, what a fun travel video! Paris is pretty neat, but I hope one day you'll visit Detroit - it's my favourite city in the entire world 🙆♀️
Awesome video! And I agree the people are always what make the place. No matter how fancy or historic a place is if the people are horrible you’ll never want to go back. If the people are great on the other hand you’ll be back over and over again.
I so much appreciate your sense of humor. I was not sure this would be entertaining, but you made it fun. I, too, have never seen a bidet and would not even know how to operate one. But I have had a boyfriend (somewhat wealthy) and he had two sinks in the large bathroom. But no bidet. I wanted to google the brand of chocolates that they offer so I could have some shipped to the US. But I found out months ago, that good european choclatiers do not ship to the U.S. as the air flight will possibly cause the chocolate to explode or crack and they refuse to allow that. I asked them to ship them via an actual ship and then it would take 3 to 4 weeks and I was fine with waiting, but the answer was no to that also. So, pass on the chocolates.
Funny how things that are so common in some countries are fancy in others. I'm from Uruguay (not a rich country) and almost everybody has a bidet, and some also a shower next to the W.C. (you can buy one in most supermarkets) Also, sparkling water is the same price of regular water (tap water is not recommended, just filtered but is a pricey investment), and every brand has the two options. We even have 'soda', water even more sparkly, and often times cheaper than the other two. P.D.: bidet are not recommended for people with vagina, so the shower is a better option. Water flows and you can manage the power, is not going directly there (less infections)
Chairs in my house: 1 couch, 2 folding chairs, three computer chairs. Zero dining room chairs. Our "dining" table is a foldable table, and is also my daughter's computer desk. We don't eat there. Well, my daughter does, but when we eat together it's in the living room while watching a shoe we all like.
This looks so nice! How did you feel at the hotel generally? I always feel so uncomfortable (mentally) while being somewhere fancy - like a restaurant etc hehe 😂😂
I remember booking a tiny suite for a girl I was dating at the time (She broke up with me pre the event the hotel was needed for) so i just had a very nice suite all to myself and it was honestly the most absurd thing I've ever experienced, and it wasn't even the fanciest hotel in the area. I got up ridiculously early just to try out the giant bathtub and the one at home shall never compare, but I got the idea to do the thing in the first place from videos like these. These are my favorite videos! Yes! let us peasants imagine a 6ft bed and needing a phone toilet that sounds delightful. I just found your channel and it is lovely!
I've never tasted anything like it in my whole life, I was genuinely so shocked. the more you chewed, the more the flavour developed - I was not prepared ahaha
Elena's clickbait game goes hard. Also if you wanna check out a really cool old hotel, there's a hotel/restaurant in Lebanon in the mountain village Hammana called Ein El Hassa. Very well known. It's cozy and covered in vines. You should come visit it. The owner's name is Rita. She has dogs.
@@Ellbat I feel the word has a connotation that refers to people using titles/thumbnails to create an expectation of the content and then not delivering on the promised content, but I think many people also use it in reference to optimizing titles/thumbnails to get clicks. In the latter, a person can clickbait while still delivering on the expectation. In that sense it’s not a negative thing and would arguably classify this title and thumbnail as the good kind of clickbait.
Huh two sinks is pretty standard here in Canada. And the shower in the tub just makes cleaning said tub a gazillion times easier but I have never seen the toilet shower lol
7 minutes into the video and only now i’m noticing the top you’re wearing hahah god i love your attention to detail 😂. Thank you once again for an amazing video, a perfect combo of informative and fun to watch!!
We had telephones in the loo in Turkey. My son just bought his first house and it had bidets in both bathrooms, he ripped them out, he said he kept banging his knees on them lol
Apparently there's different styles of bidets. So you have two styles of them in one bathroom. I enjoy occasionally staying in nicer hotels; overly fancy things make me too nervous.
when my eldest was young we lived in an apartment with only two chairs. we brought the van seat in as a couch. i always said that I'd get them a room full of chairs. when we got money. so yeah # of chairs + $$
WOW!!! But .... $1500 a night? Yeah .... probably not gonna happen. Loved seeing it from your perspective ... and, hey ... where can I get some of that chocolate?
I was unfortunately banned from filming the common areas due to other guests privacy. There are a couple of shots of the lobby areas near the beginning of my talk about the hotel - but i had to take these at 2am in order to not film any other guests 😭
It's really funny to me, that you were in Paris at the same time I was on holiday there. Now I can watch this video and remember my own stay there, nice! (Even though my hostel was obviously less fancy.) Also.. Paris does smell like pee. It was the very first thing I thought being there and it was something I sadly were reminded of again and again while being there...
Okay, the bed looks real comfy and luxurious, but the bathroom is real nice! I mean, I personally don't need that much space, but I wouldn't mind it either 😅🤩 Have you checked the hotel menu? I bet they had some pretty bougie dishes on it 😆
My husband and I are cheapskates, we very rarely stay at hotels, but if we do stay at one for a night the one thing we will splash out on if possible is a hotel room with a spa bath 😍 Though, its getting harder and harder to find hotels that have them, so we don't often get to. Other than that, as long as it's very clean and has wifi, that's all that matters to us 😊

Funny how things that are so common in some countries are fancy in others. I'm from Uruguay (not a rich country) and almost everybody has a bidet, and some also a shower next to the W.C. (you can buy one in most supermarkets)
Also, sparkling water is the same price of regular water (tap water is not recommended, just filtered but is a pricey investment), and every brand has the two options. We even have 'soda', water even more sparkly, and often times cheaper than the other two.
P.D.: bidet are not recommended for people with vagina, so the shower is a better option. Water flows and you can manage the power, is not going directly there (less infections)
Don't apologize for using your money! I would love to see more videos like this, it even made me a subscriber. :)
Ironically 'soft feelling' water is actually hard water by definition. But it textural feels 'soft' or smooth
you're kidding, surely not
Chairs in my house: 1 couch, 2 folding chairs, three computer chairs. Zero dining room chairs. Our "dining" table is a foldable table, and is also my daughter's computer desk. We don't eat there. Well, my daughter does, but when we eat together it's in the living room while watching a shoe we all like.
This looks so nice! How did you feel at the hotel generally? I always feel so uncomfortable (mentally) while being somewhere fancy - like a restaurant etc hehe 😂😂
same, I always feel so paranoid, like an impostor 👀
You are so right about the chairs
Loved the video! Very interesting, entertaining and educational
thank u so much !
Looks lush! Enjoy your stay!
Amazing
thanks jean 😭
the range of emotions you went through trying the first chocolate, omg
I've never tasted anything like it in my whole life, I was genuinely so shocked. the more you chewed, the more the flavour developed - I was not prepared ahaha
a lot of grand hotels are designed for long-term stays, so that's why there's that much storage
that makes sense!!
Best ellbat video resume ever. 🎉❤
This was so cool to see and learn about... and hilarious that your man was doing pushups when you were checking the bar 😂
Relatable girl gives a room tour of a fancy hotel. someone who understands the “why do you need this thing” of fancy stuff
You're doing really good stuff elbat. I've been learning so much and I appreciate you for this knowledge. :)
She has dogs.
im so confused because this isnt clickbait at all xD oooh that sounds amazing - ill check it out !!! THANK U !
Wow!!! Amazing and informative video! Love how much research and effort you put in to creating this 🥰🤩💖💞💕🗼🏰🏯
Gotta watch'em all 🗼
The 'shower' connected to the toilet is really common in middle eastern toilets. Usually we use water instead of toilet paper 😅
this is super smart, I wonder why it's not more common in the UK
the only thing that surprised me (as a french person) honestly are, the shower head in the toilets and the sparkling water
12:37 oh, I think about it every day...as the book you wrote there is my toilet lecture 😂
You literally have the voice of a news anchorman 😭😂💕
this would lowkey be such a fun job lmao
I could live in that bathroom!!! Beautiful!!
Huh two sinks is pretty standard here in Canada. And the shower in the tub just makes cleaning said tub a gazillion times easier but I have never seen the toilet shower lol
I believe I could listen to you talk in any language!!!
Always such great laugh watching your videos!
7 minutes into the video and only now i’m noticing the top you’re wearing hahah god i love your attention to detail 😂. Thank you once again for an amazing video, a perfect combo of informative and fun to watch!!
IM SO HAPPY SOMEONE NOTICED 😭😭
We had telephones in the loo in Turkey. My son just bought his first house and it had bidets in both bathrooms, he ripped them out, he said he kept banging his knees on them lol
Apparently there's different styles of bidets. So you have two styles of them in one bathroom.
I enjoy occasionally staying in nicer hotels; overly fancy things make me too nervous.
I have one chair in my room ,+ a box for my jumpers that I have shoved cosions on
Halfway in and enjoying the history lesson! Different from your usual but fun 🤩
Fantastic video as per 🎉
thank u so much !!!
Watching this in Paris right now:)
Paris a fascinating part of the World
when my eldest was young we lived in an apartment with only two chairs. we brought the van seat in as a couch. i always said that I'd get them a room full of chairs. when we got money. so yeah # of chairs + $$
Damn I love your content !
thank u so much !!!
WOW!!! But .... $1500 a night? Yeah .... probably not gonna happen. Loved seeing it from your perspective ... and, hey ... where can I get some of that chocolate?
I was quarantined for 14 days in Singapore. Luckily I had to work during that period, otherwise I don't know if I ever left that comfy hotel bed ;-)
16:53 is that Friendly Space Ninja?
Yes! And his fiancé Erica 🥰
Great vid!
Kinda surprised there was no other look around the hotel, would have like to see what the reception area is like.
I was unfortunately banned from filming the common areas due to other guests privacy. There are a couple of shots of the lobby areas near the beginning of my talk about the hotel - but i had to take these at 2am in order to not film any other guests 😭
@@Ellbat Aww that sucks.
I Love You Ellbat
LOVE
"I reckon they Hoover" 😂😂
“A goddamn bidet!” Lol
I stayed at the Renaissance hotel in Washington DC. I read that Reagan had a speech their
oooo this sounds so cool!
Thats one of the most luxurious hotel in Paris. It's one of the palaces.
It's really funny to me, that you were in Paris at the same time I was on holiday there. Now I can watch this video and remember my own stay there, nice! (Even though my hostel was obviously less fancy.)
Also.. Paris does smell like pee. It was the very first thing I thought being there and it was something I sadly were reminded of again and again while being there...
You are wonderful. That is all 💖
Okay, the bed looks real comfy and luxurious, but the bathroom is real nice! I mean, I personally don't need that much space, but I wouldn't mind it either 😅🤩 Have you checked the hotel menu? I bet they had some pretty bougie dishes on it 😆
You're gonna be so pissed, when you come to the US and see how many of us have two sinks in our master baths
My husband and I are cheapskates, we very rarely stay at hotels, but if we do stay at one for a night the one thing we will splash out on if possible is a hotel room with a spa bath 😍
Though, its getting harder and harder to find hotels that have them, so we don't often get to.
Other than that, as long as it's very clean and has wifi, that's all that matters to us 😊
I think if this video has taught anything its that ellbat is not posh enough for a room like this 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I miss Paris😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
