I have the same car, n54 135i m sport manual. Running jb4 automap and bolt ons, pump gas. I do a lot of spirited driving and I get 22.5 mpg consistently. Not too bad for how quick the car is. And it always puts a smile on my face! Been searching for an upgrade for years but it’s hard to find anything as good for the price. It would be the ultimate car if it were a bit more reliable and it had LSD. I personally didn’t have any issues so far.

Man... I'm so interested in the DCT/N55 platform.. I've heard so many good things about it. I have a 135i/N55/6-Speed manny and love it. It really is the ultimate coupe imo. I avoided the N54 platform due to the amout of negative feedback I received. Awesome video!

@@SuchFinessse 😆 I slept on the DCTs for a while. I wouldn’t mind having one in the future. They shift so smooth… so quick.. impossible to miss a gear when street racing haha.
N54 manual is the way to go. Easy to fix the common fail points, forged internals and more power:)

300 BHP + heavy right foot = bad MPGs. Despite being small & light, the goal of this car was never good fuel economy. We all understand that a car purchase is a series of compromises. Whether is reliability, good mileage, or a roomy interior.....you will have to sacrifice some things in order to fulfill *your* priorities.
I just sold my 2009 135i 6 speed manual car for $4500.00 it had 206k miles and was gonna need new turbos. I figured now was the best time to sell it.
This car you had was good? I mean, did you have big problems with this car?
@@arride4590 the most expensive repair was replacing the fuel injectors. Other than that, I’d say it was a good car.

i have a 128i and had 17mpg. i did my spark plugs and ignition coils and it went up to 20mpg
Love my 6 speed 135i. 2012 in alpine white. Blew up the plastic charge pipe first day I got it shipped. Lmao
I’ve heard so many horror stories of spun rod bearings even on low mileage N55. I just bought one and I might just sell it in a year or so. Originally I wanted to modify it but I’m too paranoid now to throw money at it with the “higher” chance of catastrophic failure
Interesting. I have owned two 135s (a 2011 N55 and a 2008 N54) for over 10 years and have had nominal issues. None of them have had rod issues or any major electrical or mechanical problems. However, I recently changed the turbos and all supporting lines on the 2008. I try to insure all basic maintenance are up to date and avoid installing mods that I don’t understand. With that said, these cars are a fun to drive but leave little for error when it comes to maintenance or poorly installed / developed mods.
I had a auto n54 135i fbo and Cobb stage 2+ tune, beat on it all the time never did maintenance and it didn’t break down til I wrapped it around a road sign👍

Yes, you are right. But the 135i feels more exciting to drive than a 335i.
