And you'll be stuck too. If conductors/bandmasters find out you own a bari, you'll be forever known as a bari player. Signed -- a perpetual bass clarinetist
As a baritone saxophonist, it's like looking at heaven! Plus, the conn-selmer sounded the best, because it has a deep, rich sound, and I love that in any kind of saxophone.
Ive been reading comments and someone said once you start playing bari sax you will never stop. And its true ive only been playing bari for 2 years in 7th through 8th grade and its addicting
damn, here you can just ask to play any sax but at my nearest sax shop they denied me trying anything other than an alto because, and I quote, "You're too young and you don't know sax properly"
Thank you. Great sound! My personal is a series 2 in black lacquer which I purchased from you a number of years. A great horn. God bless you all. Bill. Uk. 🎷🎷🎷
Great comparison video. Can definitely see the difference between some of them. Surprise by the way the sakusa deluxe sounded. I wasn't a fan of the Yamaha tone however. I'm a big selmer fan, but a number of them had great sound. Sakkusu, conn-selmer, Elkhart, P. mauriat, selmer series II all sound great to me.
YBS-32 had the smoothest and most consistent response with the warmest sound of the lot, the Selmer was a close second though. the Yanis had a lot of breaking in the sound and I found them to be a bit on the "plarpy" side personally
I agree I play a Yani Alto and really didn’t like the sound of the Bari at all …. I wonder if they needed a different type of mouthpiece to the others?
I have been waiting for this video for such a long time. Thanks for posting it! I'm surprised you didn't do the Eastman Bari, or Keilwerth, or the Yamaha 62 though
Hi Vincent, we don't stock the Eastman Baritone, Keilwerth Baritones are great but unfortunately not so popular and special order only and we sold our 62 baritone on the day of the video! I hope the video gives you a good indication of a few of the other brands though. All the best
That's unfortunate about the Keilwerth, I heard the special order is across the board with other music stores too which is a shame. One day I'll get the chance to play it haha. That's crazy you sold the 62 on the day of the vid, but that's a great horn (its what I have actually). Thanks for the response and the vid! One day I hope to make it out to the store! I wish you had a store in the US :(
@The Guru of Kang A) pal you sound full of yourself B) the jazz market loves saxophones. Saxophones are pretty much the embodiment of jazz and swing. I'd get it if you were commenting on a violin display, but this IS saxophones and it's less common for classical musicians to use saxophones.
Thanks SO very much for this video! I have been shopping for a bari for several months, in NW Michigan, where there are NO Baris in stock in the music stores. They do not carry 'samples' due to the expense! I've watched and rewatched other youtube videos with comparisons, but only 3 at a time, and all of them compared vintage to modern horns. And I've never heard of Sakkusu! Thanks again!
I know absolutely nothing about Saxophones, or reed instruments, for that matter. However, when you showed the "Conn-Selmer" (I LOOKED IT UP) around 1:14 I audibly did a "WHOAAAAA".
That Yanagisawa B901 is the easiest to blow and play sax. I played this horn in Sax.co.uk Sussex, such a focused round sound and slightly brighter just like most Japanese horns. I love my Yanagisawa AW01, but overall the Selmer mark 6 1961 was the best horn I ever played.
With so many good horns at a range of prices out there, I wish retailers would show Jupiter the door. Jupiter has been aggressively marketing mechanically unsound horns for decades now, and I've lost count of how many times I've seen a good student held back by new Jupiter.
Adam Saunders I play a Jupiter bari for my high school that is in very nice condition, but it just is not at my level. It squeaks pretty often, and it doesn't sound that great
Chase Borchers can’t be the bari. i play a jupiter bari as well and it’s honestly not that bad. nothing a nice mouthpiece can’t fix. if you find yourself always squeaking try messing around with reeds.
I played the school bari in high school. It was a Jupiter and it was decent. People bash Jupiter like they make actual shit but that bari was a totally fine saxophone.
Im praying for a alto. I have alto sax from lade CHINA im not confident when i am practicing becauae it sound ridiculous all the problem downs me. I wish any good sax in my birthday huh
Christian Manalo I feel bad for you I'll pray for you to get a good saxophone I wouldn't trust China's Instrurments let alone India European American and Japanese are the best
its not your sax it is all on you. here in the philippines people are so poor the sax does not even have a brand. just the cheapest china shit. but they make of it they even sound better than rich guys on youtube which plays mkvi's
Yet I will still love my Jupiter (same model as in vid) with all of my heart. Im going on 6 years with it, everyone knows me only because of my sax and the rifts I can come up with on spot. Some say Im the next big Bari hit in the state (I don’t belive this one bit)
With that attitude your nothing. Stfu and just watch for once without bragging. No one cares, no one knows you. Sorry to let you know but someone had to tell you.
I have a question about Yanagisawa baritone saxes of today. Is the wo series size or dimensions any different from the old Yanagisawa b880? I’m looking at a Yanagisawa case but is says it fits the newer saxes, and I’m just not sure if it’s going to fit.
So if I’ve never played a saxophone but I wanna get started is this where I get started? I want to start on baritone because I like the sound. I can’t really tell the difference I just like the crunchy low range. If I’m just starting out do I need to spend 1000? If I just want to learn and play low sustained notes what’s the cheapest way to get started? Sakkusu sounds fine to my ears but can I go cheaper?
playing the bari sax is like a drug, once you start youll never stop, in a good way of course
Can confirm. I gave mine up 8 years ago, and ive been itching ever since.
Same with bass saxophone
❤️❤️❤️
I completely agree. Still tasting a baritone and I can' t stop loving it!
And you'll be stuck too. If conductors/bandmasters find out you own a bari, you'll be forever known as a bari player. Signed -- a perpetual bass clarinetist

Pretty sure the sakkusu deluxe was the best out of all of them.
I feel like the Sakkusu saxophones had a more refined sound.
i like the jupiter one
you're a hero sir thanks
@@evankajikawa1277 Yeah, I had to come black to 'em a few times to check but I really prefered the deluxe and the Jupiter too.
My baritone used to sit on the ground when I was sitting in a chair, band was my favorite.
As a baritone saxophonist, it's like looking at heaven! Plus, the conn-selmer sounded the best, because it has a deep, rich sound, and I love that in any kind of saxophone.

I feel like getting this job doesn't involve and interview but an audition lol
Probably an obvious assumption lol .......as a pro player I’ll say I have never been interviewed they just need to know I can play
I wish there was an interview, because these guys are boring as all hell.

bull
How old were you?
I'm 12 I played alto for a month and now I play bari because my band teacher said I was PRETY good
Try being 16 and asking to play a Selmer Paris series iii bari. They look at you like yah right. Anyway they didn’t get my business
Kale Gorskey you can’t blame them though, those horns are so expensive
Thank you. Great sound! My personal is a series 2 in black lacquer which I purchased from you a number of years. A great horn. God bless you all. Bill. Uk. 🎷🎷🎷
His middle C is so soft. I love that!
I've played saxophone since 6 grade and barley playing bari my senior year and I love it
I just got my bari today and it is a beautiful matte silver 1932 cann. plays wonderfully.
The YBS-32 was my favorite out of these wonderful Baritones. Thanks :)
Denis DiBlasio plays a Yamaha 62.
„You are gonna struggle to find anything similar in the UK or in Europe“
Thoman: Hold my Tuner
Omg I just saw this and immediately clicked on it!!!
Rumor Weed?
👆
I just played bari today. This was my first time playing it and it was so cool!!!!
Tee Dogg 2003 continue playing it you won’t regret it
🆒️
I have a JBS 1000, it’s my first bari, and it’s so fun and easy. Great starter bari in my opinion.
Great comparison video. Can definitely see the difference between some of them. Surprise by the way the sakusa deluxe sounded. I wasn't a fan of the Yamaha tone however. i saw a bass saxophone in the back what was that about

BTW, we play mostly YBS-52s here...
I play Yamaha ybs 62. Can't go wrong!! Just make sure it was made in Japan not China!
I played the alto sax for 5 years, Bari for 6 years, and now I am playing the bass for 10 years, but my favorite sax is the baritone.
you started on the bass?
this what i play
so yay
good luck all you fellow bari sax players out there
I play the baritone sax and I think your store is great I would be in heaven coming in there . to bad in enlgand. Love it .
Wow!!That a nice Saxophone 🎷 and sounds!!! Live your video!!!!👌😍
😯
This is what makes me envy bari sometimes
Does your band not have one?
AWSOME collection of horns ! You sound great. Thanks for the demo
💖
Lesson learned is it's really the player and then the mouthpiece that make the biggest difference. The the actual saxophone last.
I know absolutely nothing about Saxophones, or reed instruments, for that matter. However, when you showed the "Conn-Selmer" (I LOOKED IT UP) around 1:14 I audibly did a "WHOAAAAA".
Can you do one for soprano? Cus I’m looking forward to get one.
Thanks in advance.
Phuong Nguyen-Tam definitely right!
Omg I love bari sax just never got the chance so I’m stuck on a regular old baritone in my 8th grade band with a beautiful tenor beside me
Don’t be afraid to make the switch. I switched to Bari from trumpet my 8th grade year and it was the best decision I could have made
I’m a strings player but love the baritone sax.

Merci tellement ! I was trying to tell my friend that bary sax was a great instrument ! You did the job ;) bisous de Bretagne 🌟💝
I wish you guys had a Cannonball big bell stone series in this video, I would have loved to hear that difference.
4:15 what is the name of this song?
Sakkusu backwards is U-SUKK-AS!!!
Illuminati confirmed lol
Omg
Lmao
Lol, not the most refined choice of a name for an instrument line but Sarutuo would have been equally as bad.
What a backwards-spelling anagram!
That Selmer Series II sounded awesome.
💯
온갖 섹소폰들이 모두모여있네요~
구경잘했어요~~👍👍👍
Im getting a silver bari sax soon can't wait!
I used to Play a Keilwerth Barisax back in the 80s in youth orchestra. It schould have belonged in this list!
Keilwerth should've been in store on here.
The baritone is so expensive, but I love the deeper sounds.
Drooling over that inventory
🤤
I wish I had a collection like that I’ve just got my old beat up bought used bari sax
Ótimas seleções de Barítonos. Gostaria de ter visto e ouvido o teste com o YBS 62 Yamaha. 🇧🇷🎷
Denis DiBlasio, you can test one with.
THAT'S A LOT OF SAX MATE
Yanagisawa and Selmer are my favorite brands.
With so many good horns at a range of prices out there, I wish retailers would show Jupiter the door. Jupiter has been aggressively marketing mechanically unsound horns for decades now, and I've lost count of how many times I've seen a good student held back by new Jupiter.

The new professional line is great
That's unfair, I played a Jupiter bari for several years in high school and it was fine. The case had wheels too!
Adam Saunders I played a Jupiter student alto for a while, it was amazing! I sounded better then a Selmer AS500 I tried.
Another great video. Wish I had a shop like that near me
That tune is catchy
That was catchy improvisation.
Great work guys, wow that was awesome....!!!!!
Low A, works great!
Thanks for the demo Mike!!!!
THANKYOU FOR SHARING THE MUSIC.
FROM THAILAND :)
🇹🇭
Please let's have a soprano sax showdown. And very soon. The demand is very popular.
Great vid and fantastic selection of baris. P.S. If you've lost your sock it’s hiding down the bell of the Jupiter.
If u have subtitles on 0:54 it says the n word lol
Giannis Antetokounmpo thank you
Kevin Beyke no problem?
Lmao
DigBick 69420 in here to learn please don’t make jokes
@@macaronitree9127 it's actually true, put on the subtitles
Gosh those horns are so pretty
Bari Pretty
Would love it if you did a showdown video for soprano saxes
Kenny G vs. who?
YEEESSSSSS FINALLY. BLESS UP Sax.co.uk
It’s very interesting how all the saxes sound different
I played the school bari in high school. It was a Jupiter and it was decent. People bash Jupiter like they make actual shit but that bari was a totally fine saxophone.
the entire fov of the camera is worth more than my life
Do you guys sell and ship in the United States?
ultimateplayer12 they do
🇺🇸
I play bari, and I love it, it’s fun and I love the sound, anyone that’s interested I would highly encourage you to try it!
I loved it, from 8th grade in middle school.
Nice, Thanks. Can you add the chapters to make it easier to jump from sax to sax ?
my favourite on was probably the Elkhart
To me? Yanagisawa and Selmer.
I miss my bari sax because it’s at school since my band teacher is gonna give me a new one .
I miss the bari sax from 8th grade.
They were all awesome, but the Yamaha stood out for me.
Denis DiBlasio plays a 62.
Great playin mai dood

i think my favorite was the pmb-300ul, idk what it is, it just happens to please my ears most, all of them are great though.
I play a Jupiter baritone saxophone at the school and he's right it is an amazing saxophone
I thought people said Jupiter was a crappy brand.
I want one because of how massive it is. It’s no sousaphone or tuba kind of large, but it’s just large enough.
They should add cannonball saxophones to their store.
the should i own a Big Bell Stone Series Alto And their Artist Series professional Baritone Saxophone And i love it.
The Yani at the end was the best imo
I played Yanagisawa Low A in 8th grade.
I like the solid silver
Great video. What song is it that you are playing? I love it
Great Video. Any thoughts on the Cannonball big bell stone series Bari ?
What song is he playing?
MidgetTiger probably just an improv
Sounds like a variation of jazz blues
On assorted brands.
*can i live here*
PLEASE
god the Low register and voice on the P mauriat are like no other
is it weird that I want sheet music to that?

Nice store.
I’m still waiting for my tubax, contrabass, and bass sax showdown
🙄
Do you think you can show a video where you can show the fingerings for the baritone sax, i'm just now starting to play it
Just get a finger chart there easy to understand
How could you forget cannonball?!
Turkey Senpai do they have Cannonballs?
Because Cannonball sells garbage saxophones that might as well be the ultra expensive version of Jupiter
I've been playing Alto Sax for 2 almost 3 years now . I am now switching to bari sax for the first time . Any tips plz?
I’m lucky enough to own a selmer super action 80 series ii bari
I would love to have a Selmer Paris Series II.
Hey play the song that goes "Bom-Bom-Bom-Doobie-Doo-Doo" lol XD
Nice Video!
0:52 turn caps on
Does anyone know how I can get my hands on a Yanagisawa B-9930? They're discontinued but I really love the sound of this specific horn!
Song name? Plz
What are the notes to this?! I love it!
Edit: What’s the song too?
Could you link the sheet music for the music used in this video?
Transcribe it.
