Silver Side Productions with their act the Hidden Citizens pull together an incredible rendition of Mike and The Mechanics " Silent Running".
Breathing new life into the 80's classic, you can feel the suspense building with the female voice singing "can you hear me" before slowly transitioning into an epic crescendo. The rework is an intense and hauntingly beautiful piece of music with an orchestral drive to die for.
According to Mke Rutherford he wanted to portray the message of the song to "what's going to happen, anarchy, the breakdown of society and to be prepared".
This is the emotion we were attempting to capture with this cover.
Silent Running originally reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and number 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, where it stayed for five weeks.
The song was also banned by the BBC during the Gulf War due to its address of war, nationalism and religion, as well as a direct reference to weaponry in the line, "There's a gun and ammunition just inside the doorway."

The rendition sounds good, but the missing verses and emphasis on the chorus at the ends (contrasted with the 80s version) conveys an entirely different meaning. This rendition conveys hopelessness against tyranny whereas the original conveys the hope that the next generation will take up the rest of the fight where the previous couldn't finish.
The Assassin's Creed Trailer brought me here. This cover is amazing. Brought tears to my eyes. This really is something else.

After watching "The Originals" season 3 episode 20. Freya holding Davina's hand and performing the spell, her spirit at the mercy of the Ancestors.
Mike and the Mechanics were brilliant, but there was always something epic missing. This is EXACTLY what was needed for this incredible song.

I'd swear this is a supergroup comprised of one of the members (vocalists) of TaTu. There's virtually nothing on these guys except that they were created by a music licensing production company for the purpose of TV and film. Hmmmm. This is the best cover of this I've ever heard, bar none.
