On release he wasn't even that bad but he had some weaknesses, especially his durability. Since then they've buffed him twice and the 6 item patch made carries incredibly strong. They buffed his health, decreased his size and hitbox, and damage physical scaling on every ability except for a negligent nerf to his ult. Throw Stormbreaker and Skysplitter on Grim and you win the game. Every other item don't even matter after this, but typically on-hit stuff like Kingsbane and Tainted Rounds work well on him. Only Sparrow scales as good as he does now but unlike Grim, she lacks all the utility he has, which is why he's been getting banned in ranked. He can 2 shot you way outside of auto range late game and if you are in auto range you cannot run from him. Last game I played as Grim I had a shit support and it didn't matter because I could 1v2 duo lane consistently after 10 minutes
