@@yusuf-qh3zc Hi, I have a wing scapula. It occurred 20 days ago after sports. Doctors said it was due to damage to the long thoracic nerve. Is your wing one-sided? Since when do you have wings? What process did you go through to recover?
I find it very strange that so many doctors go straight to pain meds and then leave it there until the patient is in so much pain that they agree to have a surgeon dig around inside them, shaving away bits of bone, only to complain that the surgery hasn't had the desired effect and resign themselves to massive amounts of pain meds for the rest of their lives. It is very strange to me that people who suffer back and/or neck pain will insist that no exercise will possibly relieve them of their suffering because they believe that their doctor would have prescribed it if that were the case and very few doctors will entertain the idea that actually looking after your body can prevent and/or heal sickness and injury.
For the past 5 months I’ve been doing medial scapula exercises when the whole time I had a lateral scapula winging in so pissed rn I’ve waisted so much time, I’m glad I came across this on my recommended 😡😡
Thank you so much for this detailed explanation. It's actually very helpful as someone who is hypermobile, has arterial TOS, cervical ribs and lateral scapular winging. This definitely explains the connection for me. I'm guessing my cervical ribs on C7 probably make this a tricky one to treat before the removal of my cervical ribs?
I have this, from a one armed press up. On the way down the serratus was fullly stretched and it gave way with a tight pinch under the arm i felt and heard my scapulae slide across my ribs at the back. the top of the scapluae stick through the trapezius causing neck paralysis on the right side in addition to pinching of the serratus on my back by incorrect scauplae movement and aching under the arm at the sight of the nerve. it also causes numbness in the arm and forces my shoulder to sit forward in the joint. the top of the arm, where it joins the body this joint is mis aligned due to the forward inclination of my arm from bad scapulae traction and position. sometimes my pectoral twitches up and down this is how i learned it was nerve damage, originally i thought it was shoulder injury due to the way the shoulder joint was affected from the misaligned scapulae. i had it checked in a mri and the said it was fine i was like no listen my arm doesnt work, pain is one thing but my arm actually doesnt work, i cant use it the same, now i have studied this i know what it is so i can better explain to the doctor and get it checked again, i need a winged scapule test. and serratus examination, the pain in the joint is a secondary issue a symptom of the actual problem. nerve damage can cause this confusion on where the pain is because the whole area is numb with different frequencies of pain dotted arrounbd. and when your arm just hangs there you think its the shoulder but its not its the side of your body.. the serratus is an exceptional muscle, fascinating, the side of your body is the postural support of the arm the mucles form part of the six pack in aesthetic appearance, which is why its confusing because the actually are responsible for shoulder posture and rotation or movement.

Is there a chance that scapular winging is not due to a lesion? I have perfectly symmetrical medial scapular winging to both scapulae, that possibly was influenced by a very rapid growth of my (very heavy) breasts in early adolescence on to a slight and thin body frame, so the rhomboids’ function were pretty much annulled for years -until I was finally diagnosed with scapular winging in my early 40’s; after years of seeking relief from recurring upper trapeze contractures
Very helpful I damaged vertebrae when a teenager then the long therasic nerve stopped functioning causing winging of scapula I'm now wondering if there is still an impingement as nerve has never recovered after many years, I now recently tore a tendon in my shoulder, obviously all likely to be connected but no physician joint the dots yet.

Hello! I was doing sports 20 days ago, everything was normal. 2 days later I woke up with terrible pain and I had a winged scapula on my right side.
