Thank you so much for this detailed explanation. It's actually very helpful as someone who is hypermobile, has arterial TOS, cervical ribs and lateral scapular winging. This definitely explains the connection for me.
I'm guessing my cervical ribs on C7 probably make this a tricky one to treat before the removal of my cervical ribs?

I have had a serratus problem due to plexus brachialis neuralgia. Back then i had medial winging. I also have neck issues and compressed nerves. Emg and MRI showed the issues. I now have a lateral winging. Nobody, neuro surgeon, physio, GP, seems to know the difference. I always get scandalised for asking a medical explanation so i know what to do to rehab. I do expect a shoulder specialist or a docter of physio to know these things.. No? Or they just say nothing because i am a lost case? Thank you so much for explaining. This is helpfull so i can finally try to adress it well. Meanwhile i have a tear in my supraspinatus because they adressed it wrong ... And i paid for this all, and i got yelled at..... imagine that..

Is there a chance that scapular winging is not due to a lesion?
I have perfectly symmetrical medial scapular winging to both scapulae, that possibly was influenced by a very rapid growth of my (very heavy) breasts in early adolescence on to a slight and thin body frame, so the rhomboids’ function were pretty much annulled for years -until I was finally diagnosed with scapular winging in my early 40’s; after years of seeking relief from recurring upper trapeze contractures

Very helpful I damaged vertebrae when a teenager then the long therasic nerve stopped functioning causing winging of scapula I'm now wondering if there is still an impingement as nerve has never recovered after many years, I now recently tore a tendon in my shoulder, obviously all likely to be connected but no physician joint the dots yet.

Hi, I have a wing scapula. It occurred 20 days ago after sports. Doctors said it was due to damage to the long thoracic nerve. Is your wing one-sided? Since when do you have wings? What process did you go through to recover? Have you had an emg done to detect damage to the thoracic nerve?

I wrote a comment before, but it was deleted and I was going to delete it anyways. Cause I am not sure what happened to this scapula when I was taking injection in the deltoid itself, but my scapula got winging from osteopathy 5 years ago and I was getting better before this injection naturally as the scoliosis that was caused by this injury subsided as someone was helping me. So what to do I feel problem in my heart and chest and whole body . I already had a surgery also in my adductors years ago and I was finally getting better but things went worse after this injection in the deltoid. I believe the guy pulled the muscle, but I don't know why on earth he would do that and cause harm? What are your suggestions kindly please? I feel like I am going to suffocate

Hello! I was doing sports 20 days ago, everything was normal. 2 days later I woke up with terrible pain and I had a winged scapula on my right side. When I went to the doctors they said it was because the long thoracic nerve couldn't work the serratus muscle. The pain is gone but I have severe weakness in my right arm and the serratus anterior muscle is not working. Did you neurologist also have an emg? Do you have a nerve problem or is it just a muscle problem?

Only with dumbbells I’ve recently been able to push more. Still causes tons of shoulder pain from the winged scapula. But it seems my body has adapted and is tryna to compensate for it.
