The cvt winds out and goes no where when you mash the pedal to the floor if you roll into the power it accelerates faster. Coming from a 23 hrv owner. It’s no race car but I haven’t found a need for more power I can merge on to the freeway with ease I can overtake slower traffic with no issues I think the performance is just fine in real world applications.
@@SonyEnthusiastI believe the FWD is about a second faster than the AWD. You may get better performance with the K Tuner upgrade, or the Pedal Commander. Both might work fine with the ones for the N/A 2.0L Civic Sport.

She paid $30K!! You cannot beat this price for a 2025 top of the line EXL. Nice car for her first purchase…
This is the exact reason I went with a Honda this time around my last two cars were a Toyota corolla and Hyundai Elantra but both those companies only Offer a turbo or hybrid option in the crossover class which I wanted neither of those I wanted a reliable NA 4cyl and Honda delivered. People are bashing it for being under powered not understanding that a hybrid battery only lasts like 10 years till you have to replace it and a direct injection turbo car (like most new cars are) will start having carbon build up issues after like 50k miles this should have no issues till at the very least 150k.

The Honda unibodies are amazing. I’ve personally seen an accord completely mangled to the firewall/windshield. Not only did the driver walk away just a few scratches, but they rebuilt it in like 2 months and I saw how it was rebuilt, I would trust it in a collision again!
I saw this exact trim and color at my dealership today. It's a demo model that they can't sell for another three months. First of all, the color is absolutely beautiful. It has such a wonderful metallic hue in the sunlight. Just like you said, you have to see it in person to really appreciate it. Second, I do like the more subdued styling. Some say it makes it very boring and blobby but I enjoy it. It's sleek, handsome, and has that fastback styling with the rear roof rake. Also, the fact that every light on this car is an LED at $27,000 is such a great value. Also, the lights themselves mixed with the sleek body make it more upscale like an Acura. The major drawback I have is the all black interior. Being in South Florida, that's a no-go. Way too hot! Also, it shows absolutely everything. I would rather have the two-tone interior that's available on the EX-L. To sum up, I still enjoy the design inside and out. It was a much-needed redesign on a vehicle that hadn't been in seven years!
I love this HR-V Sport and plan on getting a FWD just like this one. I originally wanted a Boost Blue Pearl Civic Sport Hatchback, but I like this even better for what I need and want. Yes, all LED lights, with Acura style taillights, and even LED outside mirror turn signal lights, two LED lights in the hatchback area, and the cool capacitive touch rear ceiling lights. As far as the interior, the seats are more of a dark grey, and fabric, not simulated leather like the EX-L. Plus, you could always get seat covers.
I am also in South Florida and I am considering this vehicle. My only concern was the lack of rear seat air vents for passengers. Have you found this to be an issue. Is the air strong enough to push air back there?
On of my favorite features is the center console. Having the USB ports on both sides is a nice touch but having it be a total pass through is pretty cool. Definitely a huge upgrade from the previous gen. I do understand the design being close to the escape but there is only so much you can do with these compacts. Thankfully unlike the Ford this is most likely not have as many problems only time will tell.
Agreed. Though the innovative center console cupholders on the previous HR-V was pretty nifty. But the best feature of the 2023 HR-V... No auto stop/start! And I am sure this HR-V is way better designed and built that the Ford Escape, with much less potential problems, maintenance and costs.

Also you can have the auto lock set to secure your doors when you walk away in addition if you unlock it, and don't open your door after a certain amount of time.
That has also been a problem with the 2022 Honda Civics. I am not sure if the Civic Touring Sedan and Sport Touring Hatchback with the full LED instrument panel has the temperature gauge. I might be looking into getting an aftermarket gauge to install.
@@JessepyoThat's not the same thing. In the past, the base entry level cars all had the engine temperature idiot light as they called it, with upper trim models having an actual real time temperature gauge l, noticeably absent in the 11th Generation Civics, and this HR-V. But at least real time actual temperature, so you can tell your engine is overheating, instead of the light going off when it is already almost boiling over.
The things it's missing for the Sport trim is normal and often some upper trims for the ptice point. It has lots of things that the Civic Sport Hatchback does not have at the same price, like the exterior rear view mirror turn signal indicator lights.
I have the white sport and I wish I had the black emblems as well. Only "sport " is matte black. I plan to purchase the H emblems and HR-V to matte black as well. It will look better, in my opinion
Great video review! I previously wanted a Boost Blue Pearl Civic Sport Hatchback, but I plan to get one just like this, as it suits what I want and need much better. I don't know if this color is just the previous Sonic Grey Pearl renamed, or a different color variation. The color accent stitching is orange for the Sport models like Subaru has done for their Crosstrek. The ribbed styling throughout the vehicle is cosmetic, but also functional to minimize friction and scuffing damage. Tha back door opening is common and expected and may be a structural integrity issue, and people entering and exiting the front doors with the rear doors open could scratch the paint on the rear doors. It's great that it has full LED lights with Acura like taillight styling, along with the two hatchback area lights, the rear interior ceiling capacitive touch lights, and even turn signal lights on the outside rear view mirrors, especially on the Sport. The magic seats were handy, but you described how the seats fold down. The other reason is more comfort with improved cushioning in the seats. The funnel included for filling gas is if you have to improvise using whatever container you have. Gas cans should work with their nozzles without that funnel. There are aftermarket front strut tower braces available for the Civic for improved handling and structural integrity. Someone may come out with strut tower braces for the HR-V. The cargo and weather mats protects what's under it. You could put something like a carpeted inset. What also good is that they have the optional rear seatback protectors to save the seats from wear and tear.
Yeah, the Sport should come standard with all black emblems, but you have to get the rest as an optional OEM accessory. Some dealerships put the black emblems on when they order it, or add it on at their location.
I don’t know what I feel about the looks of the front end. Hopefully it grows me and it looks better in person. Am either going to get this car or Civic hatchback sport touring.
I was looking at a Boost Blue Pearl Civic Sport Hatchback, but the HR-V is much more practical for me at the same price. The Civic Hatchbacks has a known serious water leak problem on the rear hatch that many owners have experienced. You may want to search online for message board posts on this issue.
Disappointed by the 2nd row amenities, I don’t even think the top trim gets any thing extra back there. At least give us a usb charging port or something lol. I am considering this vehicle but am going to wait until the new Kona comes out and see what that has to offer. Can you review that when it comes out?
if you really need it. It already has snow mode for the front wheel drive that might even do as well in sand. But if it doesn't snow a lot where you are, a FWD with Snow Tires on the front may be enough, unless you have lots of steep hills.
The 2022 HR-V Sport is nice, especially in Aegean Blue Metallic, but the 2023 is much improved, has 30 more HP, and more upscale and refined like an Acura SUV and Civic Sport interior.
K Tuner has an upgrade for the Civic Sport with this engine and Pedal Commander has their throttle response controller that should work on the HR-V, which is basically a Civic Sport SUV. The only difference is some CVT recalibration on the CPU that K Tuner may be able to tweak if necessary.
I’m a big Honda fan but this is a hard sell, the Corolla cross offers more standard features imo. This thing doesn’t have rear vents in any trim, good luck getting the car cold or warm.
Wait there’s carpet like material that they use in the fender wells underneath the car lol that’s very odd, not sure how that’ll hold up. Never ever seen that before 🧐
The reason for the increase price is to cover that crazy gas cap that will be a problem for Honda in the future. Rubber cover will crack and split on gas inlet as it ages.
Since you are taking the time to copy and paste your complaint on multiple videos it may be more productive if you explain a little more. There is no gas cap on this vehicle. There is no "Rubber Cover" on the gas inlet. What price increase are you referring to? This vehicle was just redesigned.
nice - i love those fabric seats, 2 led trunk lights, dark headliner, capless fuel system, matte material buttons - no gloss black BS, pretty nice exterior design in this trim, real button for the display, decent UI, very lovely HVAC panel, only 1 zone though not nice - no air vents or usb/12v for the rear seats, almost no storage in thr doors, no side mirrors folding, no lumbar support, reversing camera quality -pretty poor resolution, no light in armrest storage, also i dont like open "storage" in between the front seats... useless space.
Your dislikes mentioned is the norm for this price point and often higher trims for certain equipment. Many thing you mentioned are in very few vehicles. The HR-V Sport has a lot of things that the Civic Sport Hatchback does not, at the same price. And the space under the consoles has two USB ports, because it's not useless. It's to put your phones there for charging. And the side mirrors fold, just not powered. Again you're not likely to get all these extras on Sport trim models that have a good amount of features for the price without spending extra on dual zone A/C, power adjust seats, sunroof and other things many don't want or need, and often can get other aftermarket items later, without adding costs to the initial purchase.
This new HR-V looks so dang good, but it is painfully underpowered, especially considering it's size. It desperately needs the 1.5 Turbo or the 2.0L hybrid engine setup.
It's not the fastest, the AWD is about a second or more slower, but it's a big improvement over the previous HR-V, and the engine it should have had. But the engine is adequate, and most of all, reliable, durable, dependable, with much more reliability. K-Tuner recently released a calibration for the Civic Sport with this engine for about $300 that bumps up the power and torque up to the level of the non Si 1.5L turbo engine. Since the HR-V is assembled in Mexico, because of costs and logistics, such as outfitting the the assembly line equipment and training techs for the turbo and hybrid, I don't see it happening for the HR-V, though the Civic Hybrid is coming. I would rather have this engine, just like the Civic Sport Sedan/Hatchback for the reliability.
You dont get these cars for power, you get them for comfort, efficiency and reliability, and a 2.0L 4 cylinder with no turbo is extremely reliable, this car mechanically should last atleast 200K miles if taken care well. And thats worth way more than putting a little extra power with a turbo on it.
@@SuperER18Probably a lot longer than 200K, and the turbo, pretty long if maintained well and not thrashed and abused but still can't beat the reliability of a N/A Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla/Camry.
Interesting, the underneath of my 23 sport is different from you. I don't have the extra fabric sheild. I wish RUclipsr allow me to upload a pic. Was it a demo car?
The design change does not allow it, as the previous HR-V had the gas tank under the driver's seat. The new seats have more bottom cushion comfort and has an almost flat cargo space with the rear seat back folded down. Along with all the other improvements and upgrades, it's a worthwhile tradeoff to me.
A vehicle that does not get at least 40mpg looks like it would fail, no matter how good it is. If gas prices hit $10.00 a gallon it will entirely change who leads the pack. I was surprised that the new Honda Civic Hybrid gets great gas milage while the HR-V does not. It looks like to me, that wait and see companies will fail and fail in a hurry. By the way, who would buy an HRV when a Honda CRV gets better gas milage?
It looks fine to me, and unnecessary to have dual exhaust or four exhaust finisher tips for this engine I would just do a muffler delete or a more higher performance stock replacement exhaust system, but I don't think it would give much more improvement other than sound.
Honda lost me when they cut the fog lights. Previous generation looks better. I'm shopping for Subaru and Toyota now. Have to say, I don't like that loosey goosey steering Toyota has.
Only in pictures tbh I said the same thing when looking at new cars a couple months ago. In person you can really see the subtle body lines in person I’d say budget Porsche but in pics the front grill make it look like an escape.
Honda Automotive is a dead company walking. Honda’s inventory (at least in North America) is down 83 percent. In other words, Honda is running out of cars to sell. Be leery about purchasing anything new from Honda. If it goes under, who’ll honor the warranty?
@@MikesCarInfo They’re all low but not as low as Honda. The European makes actually have a good number of cars on their lots. This whole chip shortage thing is as fishy AF.
I have the 2020 HR-V Touring and very happy with it. This new generation HR-V, I don’t like it at all, there’s way more cons then pros. The new look is just 🫤.
@@pepsicolazero$400 for stealership scalping fees for installation? I know they charged a lot for some accessory installation, even to replace your floor and cargo mats, but that's ridiculous. If they didn't already have it installed and not have $400 added, I would make a deal to have other equivalent accessories added at no charge, or walk out and tell them I'll get the vehicle from another dealership.

In the words of Lloyd Christmas, "I like it ALOT"
Because of your informative video I decided to "Pull the trigger" and purchase a 2023 Honda HR-V sport in the Urban Grey Pearl.
Thank you I am glad it was helpful :)
I was about to go for this but after seeing the Mazda CX-5 touring I might go for that insted
Such a great review! I hear you can get an AWD option also but for an extra price. Do you think it’s worth adding? Ik it has the snow/Econ version.
It’s 1500 more for awd so not a huge bump in price.
if you really need it. It already has snow mode for the front wheel drive that might even do as well in sand. But if it doesn't snow a lot where you are, a FWD with Snow Tires on the front may be enough, unless you have lots of steep hills.
Personally I like the 2022 Honda HR-V looks more appealing versus the 2023.
The 2022 HR-V Sport is nice, especially in Aegean Blue Metallic, but the 2023 is much improved, has 30 more HP, and more upscale and refined like an Acura SUV and Civic Sport interior.
Looks cute - more power would be amazing though!
Is there a way to fold the side mirrors ?
Can you link the windshield cover that was used?
I’m a big Honda fan but this is a hard sell, the Corolla cross offers more standard features imo.
This thing doesn’t have rear vents in any trim, good luck getting the car cold or warm.
Is there an ENGINE COVER that's available for this vehicle?
Wait there’s carpet like material that they use in the fender wells underneath the car lol that’s very odd, not sure how that’ll hold up. Never ever seen that before 🧐
this hrv sport or the civic hatchback for more space?
The reason for the increase price is to cover that crazy gas cap that will be a problem for Honda in the future. Rubber cover will crack and split on gas inlet as it ages.
Since you are taking the time to copy and paste your complaint on multiple videos it may be more productive if you explain a little more. There is no gas cap on this vehicle. There is no "Rubber Cover" on the gas inlet. What price increase are you referring to? This vehicle was just redesigned.
@@MikesCarInfo You know exactly what I mean, fuel cap or "no" cap. Call it what you want ,it is a contraption that is ridiculous .
@@johnsilver7150 I was skeptical when I first experienced them 10 years ago. The design has been solid and reliable from my experience.
best looking Audi lol
nice - i love those fabric seats, 2 led trunk lights, dark headliner, capless fuel system, matte material buttons - no gloss black BS, pretty nice exterior design in this trim, real button for the display, decent UI, very lovely HVAC panel, only 1 zone though
not nice - no air vents or usb/12v for the rear seats, almost no storage in thr doors, no side mirrors folding, no lumbar support, reversing camera quality -pretty poor resolution, no light in armrest storage, also i dont like open "storage" in between the front seats... useless space.
Again you're not likely to get all these extras on Sport trim models that have a good amount of features for the price without spending extra on dual zone A/C, power adjust seats, sunroof and other things many don't want or need, and often can get other aftermarket items later, without adding costs to the initial purchase.
honda is the best baik
This new HR-V looks so dang good, but it is painfully underpowered, especially considering it's size. It desperately needs the 1.5 Turbo or the 2.0L hybrid engine setup.
2023 has the 2L engine
@@jjacob25101 Completely agree a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine is screaming reliability! I love that.
Is yours like this one? ruclips.net/video/_Ot3ZpTS3gw/видео.html
I have one like this it has the fabric it a front wheel drive
The biggest mistake was getting rid of the magic seats which is still a thing in the Eurospec.
The design change does not allow it, as the previous HR-V had the gas tank under the driver's seat. The new seats have more bottom cushion comfort and has an almost flat cargo space with the rear seat back folded down. Along with all the other improvements and upgrades, it's a worthwhile tradeoff to me.
Last year I bought a new European/world HR-V Hybrid and it is far sexier design than this version.
But u didnt mention the towing!
Towing is not a feature of this vehicle. It has no hitch and Honda has no tow rating for it.
About the get my sport in nordic forest
Cuántas millas da por galón n Sport normal y eco
It's very nice Mike but it's also 158HP like my VW Taos. So is it also "underpowered" like my Taos ?? My Taos has more torque and a turbo. I was jw. 🤨
They could do a better job with the rear bumper.
And 2 or 4 pipes would have a better look as a sport.
It looks fine to me, and unnecessary to have dual exhaust or four exhaust finisher tips for this engine I would just do a muffler delete or a more higher performance stock replacement exhaust system, but I don't think it would give much more improvement other than sound.
the asian hrv looks more delicious, with 1.5 turbo vtec 175hp, but the only disappointing is cvt
And it's smaller. That's why Honda had this different HR-V for the US market
Camera is too close most of the time to really see anything..............Paul
Can you give me an example of something you were trying to see but couldn't?
is there remote starting?
Yes!
Are these already in dealerships?
yes
Honda Carrão
That catalytic converter is begging to be stolen in every defunded police city in the USA
But where is the key skeleton though?

Honda lost me when they cut the fog lights. Previous generation looks better. I'm shopping for Subaru and Toyota now. Have to say, I don't like that loosey goosey steering Toyota has.
I bought basic of this car and I regret, asked them to return but they refuse ,I don’t advise anyone to go for it ,it’s not even comfortable inside
I really enjoy mine I thought out of all the crossovers this was the most comfy.
Anybody else feel this is a step back at least design-wise? 😕 Not feeling it right now.
Damn it looks so much like the Ford Escape. Smh😭
You so silly! Smh 😭
I like it, and a much better vehicle that the Ford Escape by far. I plan on getting one just like this.
Only in pictures tbh I said the same thing when looking at new cars a couple months ago. In person you can really see the subtle body lines in person I’d say budget Porsche but in pics the front grill make it look like an escape.
Cadê o meu
Honda is making some weird/bad decisions lately. First by not bringing the Euro spec HRV to the states, now the new CRV.
😁👍🏼
Not a serious contender without more power or turbo.
Motor has 158 HP not 156 HP.
Thanks for the correction :)
the new generation already come why anthor new come more so fast
Spare tires are too expensive!
Honda Automotive is a dead company walking. Honda’s inventory (at least in North America) is down 83 percent. In other words, Honda is running out of cars to sell. Be leery about purchasing anything new from Honda. If it goes under, who’ll honor the warranty?
Same inventory levels as all other manufacturers. It is not just Honda.
@@MikesCarInfo They’re all low but not as low as Honda. The European makes actually have a good number of cars on their lots. This whole chip shortage thing is as fishy AF.
@@fantom5894 Honda sells more cars than European brands. Honda dealers are getting a steady trickle of cars in, but they sell very fast.

Sehr hässliches Auto.

Very UGLY..I'll be getting a used one...Disappointed
I have the 2020 HR-V Touring and very happy with it. This new generation HR-V, I don’t like it at all, there’s way more cons then pros. The new look is just 🫤.
I only see a few sport trim with black badges , mine are chrome .
What gives .. anyone ?
Not sure what’s up with that mine are chrome I think honda sells black ones they probably were dealership add ons.
You have to pay for them , like $75 for the emblems and then $400 to install at the dealership
White socks? 2 kid’s minimum 😂 Jk. The car is amazing I just picked mine up 3 weeks ago
1 kid all grown up now.
When I was growing up it was black socks that we attributed to the dad or old man. Us kids were wearing tall white socks with yellow stripes with our super short shorts lol.
@@MikesCarInfo 🤣. It’s funny, bc short shorts are a thing again in the fitness world (for men as well). Great video btw! Cheers 🍻
