I FOUND SOMETHING INTERESTING! IT MIGHT REVEAL SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN GENSOKYO! So! Hikariko has that Twitter-like thingy on her hand, right? She calls that network Chirper (nice pun Wanwan, haha) and that it's kinda like the Internet for bird youkai. And as Hikariko loses, she "calls" to this priest guy. IDK what she is but I'll just go ahead. It takes a while and Reimu (in her route) grew bored for her not talking wherein Hikariko replies that that's how Chirper works. It looks like not only is Chirper like Twitter, it's also kinda like Messenger. (not promoting anything) And the SNS that she says before fighting you is the Songbird Networking System... I can see that the final boss can either be: - a modernized bird youkai - a Vocaloid like Riko (since "songbird" and technology) - another goddess trying to modernize Gensokyo (since technology and discussions about a priest) I can see the potential that Mystia or Sumireko can be a midboss in the next stages. But who knows? EDIT: The reason why we're at the Myouren Temple in stage 2 btw is Ranran herself mentioning a priest. I think it was misleading for our red-white miko, black-yellow magician, and that whatever-she-is maid. EDIT2: Near than 20 likes is too much for me already... but thanks. EDIT3: Hold up. My prediction of Mystia being a midboss was right? ...whoa. And a modernized bird youkai being a final boss? (technically nah as Horou is an ibis herself, not a youkai spawning from a birb)
Late reply but, as it turns out, the latter stages are based on Egyptian mythos what with General Set in Stage 5 and Horou, a descendant of Thoth, in Stage 6. Also, who knew that the OWO patch on Ranran was spoiling sh*t already?
On the first listen, this and the 3rd stage theme were my favorites in the demo, but after meddling with the shot customizations and thus replaying the demo for more than a dozen times, I honestly cannot decide which theme to pick as a favorite. They all are having some sort of charm to me, I love them all, they're addicting and I'm having earworms. I'm still wondering what the background for the bootleg Subterranean Sun is though. It appears that it was an unplanned additional move, hence the intermission before that spell. Waiting for translations to get this cleared up.
