Great video. One of the most important and practical facts/advice that I’ve heard has to do with intense cravings lasting only a short period of time (5-9 minutes)…if you don’t FUEL them. This last part is the key. Addicts usually fuel cravings because their brain literally cannot think of anything else and all behavior becomes focused on satisfying the craving (by using.)
The midbrain drives this obsessive thought, and it is in complete control for 3-5 minutes. Don’t ever let your DOC be within 3-5 minutes of acquisition. Best single piece of practical advice IMO.

@@utube0372 hi how you goin, Ive experienced the same with a loved one. Technically for me that would not be considered as an Addiction anymore given that he put his self into treatment to stop his addiction. The only problem i see with this is that the brain will just be confused find it hard to heal if he do not stop taking illicit drugs completely. Remember as per research- it will take about 1-2 years of Soberiety for a drug addict to feel normal depending on the gravity of there usage. If theres an underlying mental illness that needed to be addressed is when things become more complex as it they also use it to self medicate to overcome the mental health symptoms some of them are from the damage of addiction but it could also be from underlying Psychiatric disease. I don't know why I'm surprised, it makes total sense that many people fall into the same mental patterns that I have... Making myself the party guy, the guy who throws the best parties, the rockstar type, always assuming that drugs will absolutely make the night better when they actually almost always make the night worse. Assuming that drugs are the only way to overcome anxiety in social situations. I've been believing all that without realising it. @@PutTheShovelDown when I wrote this I was in like the first 10, 15 hours. I ended up relasping but I just have to keep on trying, trying different techniques and method and take it one day at a time. I like to watch just about anything and everything to help keep my mind focus and concentrated on something other than the withdrawal symptoms cause if don't keep my mind concentrated on something I end up focusing on all the withdrawal symptoms which will raise my anxiety and it will make me feel like my withdrawal symptoms are worse than what they really are and ill end up just freaking out and relasping. I really like your videos alot and I plan on watching more to help give me different techniques or approach things in a different way to figure out what works best for me. I live inn area that is filled with addicts. Even if you go to a doctor to try to get help they don't care. I've been to quite a few and every single one of them just treats you like a junkie. I've been to multiple rehabs pretty much all of them are the same the last rehab I went to a rehab when the time came and I hit the peak of my withdrawal and really going though it I asked to talk to a councilor to help calm me down and they wouldn't let me talk to any of the councilors that were on site (and I was trying to be so strong, I was coping extremely well and I wasn't being disruptive at all I was doing was just walking up and down the hallway, taking hot showers and leaning on a wall and just curling up in a ball crying silently in the hallway and it was past bed time so there wasn't any other patients in the hall way and I made sure I was being extremely quiet and because I was at the peak of withdrawal and I was freaking out they wouldn't try to even help me or talk me through it. after the first 5 mins they threatened to kick me out if I didn't stop and just go to bed cause they didn't want to deal with me which were their exact words then after 10 mins I was kicked out and I was trying so extremely hard to get through it. I truly believe if they would have just talked me through it and just just let me continue to calm myself down I would have made it cause that's how strong I was being. Its sucks cause they are supposed to be a rehab to help people get though stuff like that. They didn't even Wanna deal with me and threw me out in the middle of the night. Every single doctor or rehab I've been to just doesn't care a treats you horrible like I'm nothing but a drug addict and ill never change so they don't even try. I've never been to one doctor or facility that tries to help you they are just there for the money not to help people. I've love watching your videos cause it makes me feel like there is actually someone out there wanting to help us addicts and watch us grow and blossom into sobriety. You have giving me some hope and some great advice and as we speak Ive been trying to using some of you technics to help get me through this. I wish I was luckIy enough to get someone as incredible as you who actually believe in addicts like myself. I wish there were more people out in the world like you, the world would definitely be be a better place!
