Hi! Thank you so much for watching this video essay on BTS' HYYH (The Most Beautiful Moment In Life) and its storytelling! I've worked on this video analysis for the past 4 months as it was part of my final uni project (if you're wondering, I got the best grade out of my class and earned a special mention!).
But what do you think? Did you enjoy the video? What's your favourite BTS music video? Would you like to see more videos like this? Let me know in the comments.
Disclaimer: This is an analysis based on cinema theory and the story from BTS' music videos, the HYYH book (BTS HYYH: The Notes 1) and the BTS: SAVE ME webtoon. Anything else is based on assumptions and subjective statements. All the sources used are listed at the end of the video.
Don't forget to leave a like if you enjoyed the video and leave in the comments your opinions or any questions you might have, I will try to answer them as best as I can. Also don't forget to subscribe for more videos in the future.

FINALLY people talk about the writing of the universe. it's crazy how well written. inspired me to add symbolism. hell they impact other group have their own stories like ateez or loona
it’s amazing how everything is connected, from the story to the cinematography. i wonder how they managed to put everything together
@@cakelifornia I hope upcoming game shows the ending. I dont want the story drag on
don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the bts universe. but j*den j*ong had been trying to get some version of the loonaverse made since at least 2014 (lovelyz debut), so I doubt it was inspired by bts
I am an army from 2019 and I never fully understood the bus universe I tried watching theories and understood through the short movies and you summarised everything my respect for you increase borahae *with cuteness*
this was so well written and edited, I can’t believe it only has 600 views omg??
thank you so much! any kind of support is appreciated 🥰
this type of editing and analysis is what i usually see on the bigger movie/tv video essay channels and im so happy to see this kind of content for bts! you’re incredibly talented and i wish i could connect with you to do more of these 😭😭😭
wow thank you so much!! i wanted to make more of these videos, but i’ve been quite busy with my studies and my job 😭
@@cakelifornia oh i know how that feels 😭 i just graduated from school and looking for work so i’m like feeling very ✨ creative ✨ right now skdjdjd
soon you’ll graduate and etch out some more time then!!! are you going to school for video production or something like that bc man the level of graphics and transitions in these are truly professional im shook 🥲
i did a lot of editing at uni for my projects but it’s all self taught, there’s still room to improve a lot more 😅 i’m doing 3d animation now
Ok now that PROOF/YET TO COME/ THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENT is coming, I need a refresher 💜
FINALLY SOMEONE MAKES A VIDEO ESSAY ABOUT THIS TOPIC! ARGH! I was seriously contemplating of making my own but you beat me to it, thank you so much! The storytelling of the BU especially HYYH era was what sucked me into this fandom in the first place, I have never seen storytelling like this before so I was extremely intrigued. I've always been fond of cryptic storytelling and symbolism because, as you pointed out, it creates an active audience full of intellectual discussions. When I joined this fandom I never thought I'd gain knowledge about traditional Korean folktales, Carl Jung, and greek mythology. I think that's what makes it special: creating a productive and accessable environment surrounding art. It feels like BTS gives us pieces of art in the form of puzzles and us fans assemble it into a masterpiece, so we contribute into that art and the storytelling as well. It's beautiful and meaningful.
Oh and the TXT universe is insanely good as well, been a fan of then since forever and I can never stoo gushing about it
HYYH is gold. Not old, just GOLD. This made me fall hard for them, their music and what they stand for. I hope new Armys or even those just curious about BTS, explore and take the time to appreciate this era. Apobangpo! 💜
This was amazing, I was so desperate for video essays delving into their universe. I would love to see more videos like these!
Great video! The editing is on point! And I agree, the fact that BTS are superb storytellers really does set them apart from other groups! 💜
thank you so much! i’ve always thought the story is very unique, but never paid too much attention to theories. i hope they bring the story back with their new album!! 💜
