I did study in the DR until 6th grade and when I moved to the states I found we were ahead of the American curriculum so honestly I wouldn’t worry about private education being good enough. We even had multiple languages taught besides English. I think mostly parents that can afford it are the ones that sign up for the fun activities which means that the quality tends to be better due to its target audience. I mostly stay in Santiago but I find that some of the medical pros vs the American health care is how easily you can see doctors like you don’t have to wait 5 months for an appointment type of thing, no restrictions on taking an exam due to expenses. I went to the ER and they did a whole sonogram and a bunch of things which in the states I still remember coming home with painkillers because they didn’t do a thorough checkup. As a kid you also actually see your pediatrician, like just one doctor, I had mine for years and you build a connection with them. I find that unless it’s a family doctor it’s harder to find long term care like that in the states where you don’t constantly change doctors in each visit. There’s lots to consider for sure!
My little brother is in a bilingual school in the DR and outside of it he has a lot of events. I haven’t seen libraries but for sure there are kids friendly activities and even daycares. You’d have to do research like if they attend dance lessons etc you’d have to put more effort to find good ones at first but for sure the opportunities are there. And as for therapist, things are improving! My brother has a speech therapist. I’ve thought about this topic too since my partner and I are thinking of having children soon but it’s so complicated! Let me know if you come to a conclusion haha
Many of my family members have relocated to DR and their children are receiving great education and don’t regret it at all. My cousin and his wife last told me they should’ve moved to DR years ago. I wish my parents had made the decision while I was growing up but I’m now in the process of living my own dream.
With all the bars on doors and windows it seems frightening at first. I have been along the south east coast thru SD and have not seen or even really hear about crime. I do not think there is random violent crime.
....depends on the life you will have and your money situation. As for regular public schools: DO NOT.

You can homeschool there though. That's what I want.
There are great, reasonably priced private schools in the DR. In Santiago they have really good ones.
You can try it and see.
