I was cringing the whole time. Not only did you not go to the "roughest parts of town" , you missed out on some amazing mansions, underground railroad history, a beautiful downtown, an historic Wittenberg University campus, and other amazing things that Springfield has to offer. You went through about 2% of the city. Come back. I'll show you how much you missed. It's really an interesting place.

There is a beautiful rock garden Hartman rock garden, when you turned at the BP if you would of turned right then on Fountain there is a huge park called Snyder park. And you missed CJ brown Damn and reservoir. It absolutely amazing. You passed the rose monument on your right just before 68. And the castle is actually a Masonic nursing home. I was Born in 1945 and raised in Springfield, Ohio, the 50's and 60's were a magical time to be there, the downtown was a thriving and bustling area everyday of the week, I moved to California in 1970 and Lived in Oakland, the traffic sucked and the Earthquakes in the Bay area caused me to move back to Ohio in 1972.
I could not believe what happened to downtown Springfield when I returned in 1972, I drove right through it (didn't even stop), and went to Middletown, O, where I had friends and stayed in Middletown for 20 years, having only planned to stay a year.
In 1972 Middletown, O, was a great place it reminded me of Springfield, O, in the 50's and 60's, then Middletown degenerated into what Springfield was in 1972, I left Middletown because of the Crime, and moved to Marysville, O, in 1992, Marysville is still a nice community to live in, though we have had massive growth over the last 20 + years, but the Uptown Marysville is still nice and they haven't destroyed it like they did in Springfield and Middletown.

There’s a lot of old buildings in Springfield because the population is very small but you literally avoided the North West and North side of town where the better made homes are. Also if you would’ve turned left instead of right on East Main Street at the beginning of the video then you would’ve saw better made neighborhoods as well. It looks like you went to specific areas that don’t look appealing and avoided all of the nicer looking areas.

Come on y’all did not hit 1/4 of Springfield, Ohio. If you did you would have sought historical Springfield South High school where John “Legend” Stephens has added a theater at the Building. It does have a high crime rate as do most cities where there are no youth programs . I grew up there and attended the YMCA and the Teen Center both located on Center Street. However, the fact you feel so inclined to present a video as if it encompasses a reasonable portion of the city is jaded journalism. Get on out of my hometown with that mess!!!.

It was ass, and you weren’t even allowed to use the theater😂 we used it like once a year for a talent show. This place has gotten a lot worse over the years. The school looks nice, but wait till you see the amount of memorials they have because of all their students being gunned down or dying in horrible ways. They have literal grief counseling for that reason. And look around the school because everywhere around it looks like a dump.

Its not much better in other parts either to be honest. People glorify Roscommon's and what not but that's the only decent neighborhood left. People don't talk to each other in public no more, I can't think of the last time someone did something nice, homeless people don't even beg no more because it's not worth their time and they would rather just steal stuff. My house has been broken into on several occasions just over the past 2-3 years. I live in Roscommon's and it's the only place that i've been robbed in. Youngstown hides its crime numbers by not reporting them to the fbi or reporting them late so the city doesn’t end up as the murder capital of the U.S. 2021 youngstown had 31 murders with a population of 67,000. You can easily do the math. That’s a murder rate of 46 per 100,000 people. Which is equivalent to a city the size of Chicago having 1,380 murders in 1 year. You gotta come up during the summer time. In the winter nobody is outside. The south part of town is typically the most dangerous. The reason it’s the most dangerous city by crime rate is because it’s per capita. Meaning every few people you pass on the street has a criminal history. It’s also a town where if you have enemies you can’t hide from them. It’s not big enough to hide but there’s a lot of beef. So a lot of shootings happen. And don’t get me started on stuff like drugs and r*pe. You missed some of the best turns though. People here will fight you just for looking at them too long lol

Haven’t lived there since I was 13 I am now 33 but go sometimes to visit my cousin who lives in Cincinnati but my dad‘s whole side of the family still lives there in Springfield, I was just there 2 years ago and it’s gotten so bad! It’s definitely a place people who don’t live there don’t need to be. A lot of the Houses that are boarded up people actually still I’ve in, I see family post about shootings all the time. There was one year that I would see or hear about a shooting every week. Anyways my mom moved us girls to Texas when I was 7 and we moved back and fourth a few times and as a child I loved it there, but when I was there last time when I was 13 I thought “ what TAF like wth how do people love here” side note I was only there at that time bc my dad kidnapped me and took me there for 6 months. Anyways the main street y’all missed you went straight and y’all should have taken right was limestone. But y’all do need to be careful there and be safe. I’m okay going there bc when people hear who my family is mom and dads side they don’t Mess with me bc well my family is creamy I guess. 😂 I honestly don’t think I’ll ever go back it’s Just very sad and very depressing.
