Also check out my new e-book www.SoyCandleMa...
These soy wax melts are so easy to make and you can make them in so many different shapes. Just find some molds that can withstand some heat. I found some Easter Jello molds on sale at the store, and I also have Valentines heart molds which were actually for making heart shaped cupcakes, but they work wonderfully for wax melts!
You can find the metal tart molds online at most candle supplier's websites or on Amazon.com: (disclaimer: this is an Affiliate link. I do get paid a small commission if you buy through this link, so thank you in advance if you do!) www.amazon.com/...
I buy most of my soy candle making supplies from CandleSoylutions: www.candlesoylu... The votive wax, Breezy Meadow fragrance oil and dye are all from CandleSoylutions.
Ecosoya PB (Pillar Blend) is a great alternative for your soy melts as I explained in the video. Also, American Soy Organics has a Pillar Blend soy wax as well: www.americansoy... I have not had a chance to try their pillar blend yet.
Also, I forgot to mention in the video that the reason I like to use the Votive or Pillar blends is because the wax shrinks as it cools so that it will release from the molds. If you use a 100% soy wax or container blend type soy, you would need to use some sort of mold release product or else the wax will adhere to the molds and won't come out very well!
Remember, you can visit my website at www.soycandlema... for more info on soy candle making supplies, instructions, starting a business, etc.....
    Questions? Just ask!
    Thanks for watching!!

@Rhonda Maner No, I don't use a spray release. That's something I forgot to mention in the video. The Votive or Pillar blend soy waxes are made to shrink as they cool so they slide right out. If you use a 100% soy wax or container blend, they will adhere to the molds and not release, so then you would want to use some sort of release product.

Alice Marie Kane I saw your comment, but now I'm not sure where it went! lol If you go to my website www.soycandlemakingtime.com you'll find some info there. I'm still needing to put up quite a bit more info as far as the business side of candle making, but you can got to my contact page to email me with any questions you might have. :)

Great video Melissa, I know nothing about candles yet but in time I will. I have a new job so I need a new hobby and this seems to fits right into my schedule and lifestyle. Thank you for the info as well, the blueberry muffin candle looks like it will smell great. A question for you though, I've looked up how to make wax by yourself and there were only two ways I could find (I'll keep looking) but do you know any ways other then having a bee hive or using animal or vegetable lard? I'm not big on the idea of the lards because the info said they burn with black smoke. But we'll see. Thanks.

Thank you Joshua, I'm glad you liked the video! I have no idea how you would make wax other than having a beehive. There is quite a process in making soy wax I guess, plus you would have to grow the soybeans so that probably wouldn't be practical either.

No not if I had to grow the soy myself, nope. I've wondered how they make wax for a bit but never checked into it, but I decided "I'm going to", no point woundering when the answer is easy to find. A beehive seems to bee the "easiest", and I use that turn lightly, the easiest way to get wax would bee a beehive from what I'm reading.

Hi! I just started to make these and am wondering how they are supposed to look after they harden? I am kinda comparing (store bought- Better homes) brand to mine and theirs seems to be more eye catching or presentable if that makes sense? I know it is different factory vs home made.

Do you need to let the tarts sit for 24-48 hours before melting them like the candles?

Hi! I'm thinking of starting a candle business. I have a question, how do I insure my business, and what type of insurance coverage should I be looking for? I can't find any insurance companies that will cover this. Thanks you.

Randi, I am doing some research on this, but so far this is the main one I could find: www.indiebeautynetwork.com/channel-ibnyou/insurance.asp

I did not have insurance when I was selling my candles, but it certainly would be a good idea if you can find some!

Just The 6 Of Us Castañeda no you can't use food colouring. It must be Candle wax Blocks, Chips or wax Liquid Dyes - same with fragrances - it must be suitable for wax

This was a good tutorial, however, I wouldn't have started it off with a product you can't buy anymore.

My wife has started a Candle company and has been working very hard...and doing really well. I hope that I'm not stepping outside of any boundaries here but I'm very proud of her and thought I would just share her info with a few candle lovers on RUclips. I don't know the first thing about candles but she sure seems to know what she is doing. I hope you will visit her store. www.buttercupbutton.com/shop.html
