As a physicist and engineer kind of person, Armageddon actually makes me cringe so hard, 2012 was alright. I have a feeling this is going to make me cry. I'm fine with sci-fi and fantasy such as Interstellar- that was brilliant. But the Martian is my favorite space movie of all time. It follows almost all of the rules and has good, believable acting and tells an amazing story that could genuinely happen one day, the portrayal of space and space exploration is incredible. Those are real movies to me. Armageddon and this, is probably just for the general public who don't know what's going on tbh.

Out of touch, soulless, contrived, more plot holes than swizz cheese, full of clichés but not in a good way, terrible acting despite having relatively good actors, just all around horrible. I can't even imagine how low your expectations must have been for you to enjoy this since I expected it to be garbage and it was way worse.

They don't make a film sequel for movies that lost $100m. I liked it too and the cliffhanger had me looking into possible sequels but it isn't going to happen sadly. I hope we get a continuation in another format though.

I Wish they didn’t show some of the best parts of the movie during the trailer. I get where they’re coming from. They want to make it intriguing, but as of late, I only like to watch 30 seconds of a trailer and then decide if I want to watch the movie to see the rest. Watched it in cinema today with my gf, we both enjoyed every minute of it. It's a very dumb but also very entertaining movie. It's an Emmerich. You love it or hate it, but it doesn't deserve to tank at the box office as it probably will judging from the first weekend numbers. This is popcorn cinema at its best.

I'll be honest, when I first watch the trailer, I thought it was rubbish. But, after watching the movie, wanting to give it a try, and rewatching the trailer again, I found that I enjoyed it more than the first time. Great movie and worth the time to watch it.
I like it too - I think it´s because it was well written and produced. Things might not be scientifically correct or plausible, but as a fiction product, the movie needs to provide some sort of answer to the storylines they are presenting. This one delivers - it has a beginning, a middle, and an ending that is a crowd-pleaser..

Wish this got a better writing team during production. Just finished watching it. Not good and not bad, but definitely iconic. This is the greatest original sci-fi concept I've seen for a movie in a long while and the visuals are absolutely stunning. If the story's writing had been better I believe this movie would have been a huge success like Sci-fi standouts such as Elysium or Passengers.
Why the hell can't they avoid stupid oneliners and cute, "funny" characters? What if they had made this is a serious manner (regardless of how implausible the basic plot is) and not into a cheese fest? And cars jumpig across impossible chasms.. I know, I know, people think it is entertaining, and Emmerich hopefully has his tongue firmly in cheek, but I can't help wonder what would've been the outcome if someone had done this with a serious tone.

I first read about the theory of the Moon being a giant spaceship, abandoned in orbit, years ago. Although it's nonsense, I always kind of wished it was true: just imagine going into that thing and exploring it! So when I first heard about this film and saw the first trailer, it was like a childish dream come true. And it was so nice to see John Bradley again. I'm sure he's been working but I haven't seen him since GOT ended. Hmm, but this trailer . . . I'm a bit disappointed that the Moon is inhabited? steered? by some giant CGI monster. If I had to guess it's some kind of security system, like the Smoke Monster in Lost, and the original crew? inhabitants? are long dead but have left a message for Human Kind. Hope it's not just a 'creature'. That would show the life is 'irregular'.

I read about the 'theory' in 'Our Mysterious Spaceship Moon' by Don Wilson, published in 1975 (while I was at school, hence 'childish dream'). There were several books out around the same time on the same subject. It's the perfect idea to base a novel on - in fact I started one myself years ago, possibly even around 1991. But Weber is the workhorse! Anyway, the synopsis of that novel sounds good so I'm off to order a copy. Thanks for the tip.

Me and my best mate went to see _Moonfall_ in cinemas in my home country, the UK. We loved it thought it was a really cool movie and I later got it on DVD, I don’t care what anybody says.

Saw this when seeing No Way Home. I must admit that the visual effects in some shots are insane and it makes me wanna see it. I love these end of the world scenarios, be it good or bad, I just love destruction in films!

FYI, it's actually a pretty entertaining movie with good special effects. Just turn off your brain, grab a tub of popcorn, and enjoy the ride.

I Wish they didn’t show some of the best parts of the movie during the trailer. I get where they’re coming from. They want to make it intriguing, but as of late, I only like to watch 30 seconds of a trailer and then decide if I want to watch the movie to see the rest. Otherwise I see what happens at the big moments of the movie during the trailer and feel like I don’t have anything to look forward too. Anyone else agree?
Watched it in cinema today with my gf, we both enjoyed every minute of it. It's a very dumb but also very entertaining movie. It's an Emmerich. You love it or hate it, but it doesn't deserve to tank at the box office as it probably will judging from the first weekend numbers. This is popcorn cinema at its best.

I'll be honest, when I first watch the trailer, I thought it was rubbish. But, after watching the movie, wanting to give it a try, and rewatching the trailer again, I found that I enjoyed it more than the first time. Great movie and worth the time to watch it.
I like it too - I think it´s because it was well written and produced. Things might not be scientifically correct or plausible, but as a fiction product, the movie needs to provide some sort of answer to the storylines they are presenting. This one delivers - it has a beginning, a middle, and an ending that is a crowd-pleaser..

Wish this got a better writing team during production. Just finished watching it. Not good and not bad, but definitely iconic. This is the greatest original sci-fi concept I've seen for a movie in a long while and the visuals are absolutely stunning. If the story's writing had been better I believe this movie would have been a huge success like Sci-fi standouts such as Elysium or Passengers.
It would still lack the Gravitas of those two films. I did enjoy the comical aspects of this movie
Elysium was fun but I was let down by passengers.... expected more.

Why the hell can't they avoid stupid oneliners and cute, "funny" characters? What if they had made this is a serious manner (regardless of how implausible the basic plot is) and not into a cheese fest? And cars jumpig across impossible chasms.. I know, I know, people think it is entertaining, and Emmerich hopefully has his tongue firmly in cheek, but I can't help wonder what would've been the outcome if someone had done this with a serious tone.
EXACTLY!! The first teasers made it out to be a serious/darker tone outing for Roland… this trailer turned it into a comedy, and my excitement went down tremendously.

I first read about the theory of the Moon being a giant spaceship, abandoned in orbit, years ago. Although it's nonsense, I always kind of wished it was true: just imagine going into that thing and exploring it! So when I first heard about this film and saw the first trailer, it was like a childish dream come true. And it was so nice to see John Bradley again. I'm sure he's been working but I haven't seen him since GOT ended.
Hmm, but this trailer . . . I'm a bit disappointed that the Moon is inhabited? steered? by some giant CGI monster. If I had to guess it's some kind of security system, like the Smoke Monster in Lost, and the original crew? inhabitants? are long dead but have left a message for Human Kind. Hope it's not just a 'creature'. That would show the life is 'irregular'.
It can't be a giant spaceship AND made of cheese. Only one can be true..
It's not a "theory". It's the plot of a series of books that came out a couple of decades back. Look up "Mutineer's Moon."
@@WUZLE Oh, David Weber - I've read stuff by him, not heard of this series before. Just checked - that came out in 1991. I read about the 'theory' in 'Our Mysterious Spaceship Moon' by Don Wilson, published in 1975 (while I was at school, hence 'childish dream'). There were several books out around the same time on the same subject. It's the perfect idea to base a novel on - in fact I started one myself years ago, possibly even around 1991. But Weber is the workhorse! Anyway, the synopsis of that novel sounds good so I'm off to order a copy. Thanks for the tip.

@@markharris1125 The short version is that the Moon in that setting is indeed a massive starship, whose crew covered it in rock and threw the actual Moon into the sun so they could hide from an even more powerful enemy. Eventually the AI on the ship wakes up and recruits an Earth astronaut as its new captain, leading to the story.
Me and my best mate went to see _Moonfall_ in cinemas in my home country, the UK. We loved it thought it was a really cool movie and I later got it on DVD, I don’t care what anybody says.

I loved 2012 despite its issues so I doubt Moonfall will disappoint me. We disaster movie fans wanna see the carnage. The story merely drives the plot and nothing more.
