The Rocker Jets are very nice heads. The 503’s are the most temperamental of all the models. I have some that are slow in one direction and some that are normal and some that Will barely work one way.
I believe it has to do with the castings and machining and the 503 has tighter tolerances than the 512 or 522.
You can definitely tune them by tweaking the striker area of the nozzle but they are fragile and since they are very old by now, they break easily and they don’t braze back together very well as it hard to get the alignment correct.
Very neat head and the 512’s work flawlessly most of the time.

I want to get one of these eventually when they do not cost a fortune. Right now the sources I have found them at extremely high prices. These are really neat sprinklers and I want to add one to my sprinkler collection, and test it out. thank you for sharing.

I wish I had one of these. I have the Gilmour rocker jet, but it throws lots of water outside the set area, and seems to only been in production for a few months unfortunately. Nice video.

That had to discontinue that because of bad reviews

It took me almost a decade to get one of these Rocker Jets at a decent price they get really expensive. Funny enough I’m actually now trying to get the Gilmour Rocker since they got discontinued recently.

@@andrew9485 I purchased mine at Target the week they came out. Glad I didn't hesitate buying one. I hope you end up finding one soon. They are pretty good aside from spraying water out to the side.

@@bluestingerborg alot of those Gilmour rocker jet clones would get stuck or have excess side splash and cause poor operation. I knew one that ran for a minute and got stuck in reverse and wouldn't trip back

@@NelsonBigGunP200Fan Allot of people said that in the reviews.

That's cool. A small version of the well known SR100. I have one but it needs a new nozzle and trip collars. Also it seems to have a slower stroke rate when reversing than going forward. Too bad buckner didn't make one that was fast reverse

    • @andrew9485

The slow stroke rate most likely has to do with the position of the nozzle. This Rocker had the same issue reversing slower than it should until I moved the nozzle slightly flat to the arm spoon with a wrench, the only problem is that it’s very easy to break off the top striker piece so if you try this to fix your’s be very carful.

i wish i was good with machining. I'd like to take one of these and mod it to be fast reverse. I figure i'd make some kind of trip mechanism that holds the drive arm in place when its tripped so it shoots water to the side creating kinetic energy. Now when it reaches the left stop it would disable the mechanism and the arm could move freely driving it forward. Its just an idea i had. Although modding one of these would probably be a no no to the collectors, As these are super rare and alot of people like to keep them original. Did u guys know rainbird made a #65 impact that was fast reverse? It basically was like a prototype, kind of like the first impact sprinkler to ever been made. Except it was PC and it had a deflector that redirected a stream to reverse it back. Kind of like the nelson big guns.
