    I'll never get tired of the ending shots of all of them running side by side. I can only imagine how loud that was and how well the room smelled after filming those shots. Plus, that's a lot of current being drawn, too, since the horizontal motor F3s pull around an amp when under a heavy load. Not to mention how many takes it took for them to line up perfectly like that.

    I remember growing up watching this series when I was around 2-5 years old and my Dad and I used to regularly buy Lionel trains from the Train Station in Mountain Lakes. I’m so glad I found this again video after 16 years.

    Neat you got to meet Tom McComas Nikolas. I got to meet Jeff back when the store was in New Buffalo. I would’ve liked to have met Bill Benson though. Least I dedicated my Right of away tribute to him. Did you learn a lot about ROW from my tribute?

      Oh yes. Too bad Right of Way Industries folded up. I would like to collect their locomotives and cars. Too bad they made them in small production numbers. That I feel was what contributed to their downfall as Lionel and MTH really made the moves to more realistic models made of diecast, along with more production and lower prices.

    It's hard to believe that the models and the real thing are 75 years old now. Even in 1966 when production was done, the F series Diesels were still pretty commonplace despite the fact the Electro Motive Division, the Alco Locomotive Works, and General Electric were making Diesel trains with 3500 horsepower for the most part.

    If it was not for all of the greedy collectors out there constantly jacking up the price of something until it is ten times what it is worth this hobby would be much more enjoyable. Lionel trains for made to be run and maintained by their owner and their father. Back when men actually were men and knew how to use tools. They were not meant to be a ridiculously expensive collectible. When I can buy a Williams F3 locomotive for $100 brand new a Lionel old used F3 locomotive could be the same in price they are not the technology and electronics state-of-the-art with detailing to match that are marketed to adult operators and collectors. When I see ridiculous prices asked for mundane General everyday toy train locomotive I shake my head in amusement. All these guys that want silly money for anything and everything marked Lionel are going to die with more stuff than their descendants are ever going to be able to sell . Because people's greed they are going to be stuck with stuff that their relatives are going to sell for $0.10 on the dollar Maybe.

      I hate to admit it, but I 100% agree with you. I'm 25 years old and I have been collecting toy trains since I was 13. I really want to collect as much as I can of O gauge trains not as in investment, but because I love toy trains. People talk about wanting younger people to get into the hobby, but the prices for the older trains are far too high for what children and their parents can afford. If you raise the prices, that will leave them discouraged and not want to get into the hobby if they are priced out. Another big issue I am noticing is the lack of publicity for toy trains as there are no regular commercials and media coverage besides social media. I have a close friend who has been in the hobby for 8 decades now and I am concerned about his collection. Hopefully things will change and there will be a resurgence in toy trains as a true hobby and not for greedy collectors.

      I agree fully. Some collectors go nuts with variations, charging insane prices because the lettering or decals on a boxcar is just slightly different. I have some favorites I wish to collect but I buy em to run em, not sit on the shelf. This is stance a lot of my friends who are young and collect O gauge have. We want these trains to used like they were intended for: play.

      I find your post right on the money(no pun) to costly today. Not being a collector, just repair and play with them same as I did when I was a kid. Now a 70+ kid and definitely NOT a collector doing the same thing. Only Lionel post war well used, mostly from ebay and show. Pristine trains with boxes not in the cards. My layout has green felt and no “STUFF”, just the trains. And reasonable prices is a must for me nothing including engines over $99, mostly $60 or less. Modern in the box trains can stay right where it is on the vendor’s shelf, I’m not interested.

      @@MilwaukeeF40C normally yes Lionel Fanboys will buy anyting in an orange and blue box and just like the Harley guy they throw money at the company for garbage and so nothing gets any better it's funny how the most expensive motorcycle and the most expensive toy train both have systemic problems poor customer service ridiculously high prices and ridiculously cheap quality. It's funny how both Lionel Fanboys and Harley Fanboys brag about their things while their motorcycle sits in the shop 9 months of the year and their locomotives sits in the service place 9 months of the year sad and pathetic on both counts.

    Oh great we have a video recording of how they progressively cheapened the shells to save a few pennies while insulting the customers buying their top-of-the-line products. Lionel cursed themselves with plastic shells. The all of their diesel locomotives should have diecast body for strength and traction like their steam locomotives h a d.

    • @wordenentertainment1997
      @wordenentertainment1997  Год назад +2

      Well plastic was cheaper and could cast in details just as good as the die cast steamers. Not to mention these were built for kids and meant to be played with. These trains are not like the highly expensive scale model trains that are being offered today.

    • @frankmarkovcijr5459
      @frankmarkovcijr5459 Год назад +2

      @@wordenentertainment1997 actually the reason why the Lionel F3 locomotives are plastic is because the company that made the plastic which my phone cannot Translate convinced Lionel new plastic was good enough for Lionel trains. Lionel could not risk their top-of-the-line product first do product after World War II substandard or of poor quality. They assured him that they're plastic was top-quality. General Motors partially paid for the injection molding for the shell which is why the first engines have GM on the sides. Plastic was considered to be revolutionary and brand new. Modern and not old-fashioned. Up until this point all toy trains were either diecast metal or sheet metal. Wiring was covered in cloth installation which doesn't disintegrate overtime like plastic does, getting hard and brittle and falling off exposing bare wire. If the F3 had diecast shell it would have impeccable pulling power because of its heft it would have such a feel of quality as compared to what you have when you pick up something that is made of plastic.
