@@UncleSalty-nz5uk only 1,107 of the Y84 Special Edition Trans Ams had the W-72 400/4-speed package. The Pontiac 400 engine was cancelled by the end of the 1978 production run, but Pontiac stockpiled nearly 10,000 of them with the code PWH on the block for 1979 models. Eventually I will do a series of the restoration of the car and tell the full story. One thing to note is that I had the glovebox door signed by John Schinella, who designed the black and gold Special Edition package that would be famous because of Smokey and the Bandit and he was the designer of the iconic Firebird hood decal. He also was the man in charge of designing the exterior of the Firebirds from 1974 up until the late 80s. He's a good friend of mine and he also has a passion for trains. It wouldn't surprise me if the streamlined passenger trains from back in the day influenced car designs in later years.

@@thecaledoniansleeper2648 The Ohio Central and many other short line railroads are owned by the Genesee and Wyoming railroad company. Anytime you see a diesel wear that distinctive orange paint scheme, it's a Genesee and Wyoming railroad.

@ Watching those Ohio Central Steam videos that were from the late 90’s and early 2000’s do share good memories to those who’d got to ride behind 1293, 6325 and 1551. They’re enjoyable. Plus, I was quite a sucker for trains running in the Amish landscape. Watching those videos to me looks like the Strasburg Railroad, but on steroids. It’s more than just tourist excursions with the 1551 and 1293, it also had huge steam programs. I’d seen those trains going so fast on long stretches of track, something I wished that the Strasburg Railroad was. It looks bigger, better and more expansive. As a matter of fact, I’d already spent my money collecting some Ohio Central videos last year. I had an obsession with trains in the Amish countryside like that or Strasburg.

Imo Jerry Jacobson made a big mistake selling the Ohio Central to Genesee and Wyoming. They don't allow steam tourist or excursion trains on their lines. It's also unfortunate that most of the steam locomotives at Age of Steam Roundhouse no longer operate. I wish these regional and mainline railroads would be more steam friendly towards non profit groups who operate historic rail equipment. Of course those railroads are in the business to make money and deliver goods in a timely manner.

@ I couldn’t agree more! He shouldn’t have sold the Ohio Central to the G&W in the first place. The railroad needs to continue to rival with the Strasburg Railroad, to make everybody far and wide wanting to ride on a steam train in beautiful Amish landscape. Even after when Jerry Joe Jacobsen had died in 2017. If the railroad was still around today, I would’ve gone all the way out to Ohio to visit the railroad and ride on a train between Baltic to Sugarcreek, or ride behind some big steam excursion programs. And Sugarcreek would become tourist attraction for those who enjoy some Amish culture, like the furniture, food or entertainment. Plus, the railroad might even add another steam locomotive or two to operate them when the railroad’s popularity had grew.

Thanks. It's an Ott Machine Services sound unit. It was not installed in the locomotive, but was off camera hooked up to the track. Eventually I want to install it in a tender to use with some of my other steamers.

SWEET! The late 70s black and gold Trans Am has been my number 1 dream car since I was five after seeing Smokey and the Bandit for the first time. I'm eventually going to restore my 79 Y84 Special Edition that I bought 6 years ago. It's a rare W-72 Pontiac 400/4-speed car with many options including t-tops. It was my grandparents' neighbor's car she bought brand new on January 12, 1979 at the Garber Pontiac Cadillac dealership in Saginaw, Michigan. I'm also considering documenting the restoration for RUclips.

Yes he did. A few were used in the movie and one of them was given to the owner of the flatbed trailer as payment for his services. It recently sold on bring a trailer for about $90K.
