Love the family tree idea from your mother’s piece, perhaps ornaments hung on the tree. Even transferring photos onto fabric, then stitching the names and dates. Would be so neat to see the generational hand stitching, eventually passed to the next generation. ❤
Wow Christine! Anna and I are stitching together today and watched your amazing video. When you showed the two tables where others can come and stitch we both said, "yes please!" 🙂. Thank you for giving us a sneak peak into your crafting life! --Carolyn
Love, love, love it! Let me know when you’re ready for visitors and I’m there. The work you’ve done is wonderful and sooooo much potential for a retreat get-away!
Another awesome studio tour, an old church , how wonderful. I once read a fiction book about a weaver who converted an old church into her home and studio. Maybe it was about you 😜! As a weaver myself I just remember loving that story! I wish you the best in your continued restoration ❤
I can attest to the spring and the quiet of the space but you left out the dogs party way up the mountain from here to the cabin who really really want to say hi and don't give up. Wish I was down there sewing with you today but definitely looking forward to another trip.
That's pretty cool that you were able to save the building. That would be a great space for classes, and you could even put some bunks in the back room.
This video blew me away!! If I lived near you, I’d be in every class you offered. That setting is a perfect place to create. I love that you saved a church building. I wish you many hours of joy while you work on your craft and teach others to love crafting as well. You and your husband are immensely talented and hard working!
Glad you enjoyed it. I have a copy of an old photo of the congregation somewhere. It’s so cool with all the ladies in their big hats. When I find it I’ll post it.
Amazing, so quaint. You are such a kindred spirit. Have great fun and enjoy your day , I wish I could be there with you. I love your videos and get very excited when you release a new one.
Thank you. I’ve been in no hurry to paint. At first the walls really clashed with the flooring, but as is ages and darkens it is starting to grow on me.
How lucky you are to have 2 studios. It is wonderful to be able to spread out to work on quilts. I love that you have your GG grandmother's quilt frame and unfinished quilt. 🧵🧵🧵
@@1856BrickHouse Oh, yes, I do live there but I’m currently in Alabama. LOL I was confused for a second. Lake County kind of North or lower? I was born and raised in Benton. That’s about as far North as I ever get anymore.
@@1856BrickHouse Oh my word! I guess you do. LOL I was just up there last fall and had to check out three times because I kept finding more must-haves. LOL
What a beautiful property, Christine! Tell us again where you are in the deep south? I hope you'll do a return video when the trees are back in leaf! If you hosted a retreat there, I would definitely come! I know you have a lot of work left to do, and can't wait to see it! Hugs, Candace
Hi Candace. I will do another video by the babbling brook at some point. It is very therapeutic. We are in the NW corner of Alabama. In the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The nearest town is about 25 minutes away.
@@mountaincraftsstudio I've heard that's such a gorgeous area, Christine. One day I hope we can visit. We did a trip many years ago through the Smoky Mountains, so I imagine it's a lot like that. I loved that there were arts and crafts shops everywhere with only local producers! Thank you!
How wonderful! How marvelous! So glad you saved this old church. Have you ever thought about adding a few beds in the back room (and a shower too) and making this into a quilt retreat building? It would be perfect for small groups (4-6) maybe, stay maybe 3-4 days??? You already have the kitchen….. do you mind I ask where this is located? You mentioned the south and I am in Alabama.
What a lovely tour - thank you so much for sharing! I love the large open space for all your fiber arts “zones” and fantastic light this small church afforded you - I will be looking at small churches for sale in a whole new light for sure ;) So when are open studio hours? :)
Amazing! I’m a little confused. The studio that you use for RUclips is your studio near your home and this one another one near your home? I love both of them and of course, your cabin.
The Flosstubes are made at my farm home in Indiana. The cabin and this church are in Alabama. We had plans of building on to the cabin and retiring in Alabama at some point. Now we’re aren’t sure where we will be for sure given the price of building materials.

You two are welcome any day!
Nice! This is a great space! I could see myself sleeping in the back room and thriving in the front…with the addition of a bathroom in the back
Right?!
What a fabulous space! I’m not sure what I admire more - your vision or your energy!!
The older we get the less energy we have to keep up with our vision. LOL
Thank you so much for showing this neat, neat studio. What a great place to spread out and do so many crafts. Thanks again.
Thanks for stopping by.
Great space! Thanks for sharing.

Wouldn’t that be awesome? I’ve always thought it would be neat to have one like that with all the stained glass and wood trim.

Where are you located
Please post a class schedule
This studio is in NW Alabama.

I also now have her treadle sewing machine. Treasures.
It is stunning like others have said wish I was close not the other side of the world and could spend some quality time crafting with you
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all live near each other?
Awesome studio, it's a keeper!
What a great space! How about some beds in the backroom so you could offer small retreats? I would drive all the way from South Carolina for that!
That was the original plan. Maybe someday once the travel issues/pandemic is over.
Love this so much. I too have so many niches of sewing and quilting that more space is always a plus. Don’t sell ❤
I love ❤️ your new space! To have that room to move around and work would be amazing. I admire your ambition. You go girl!
Thank you so much!! Unfortunately my ambition doesn’t match my physical abilities anymore. Aging is not for sissies. lol
