For those trying this, i changed the dark overlay as a black background with a white in the middle and blending it outwards to the black ( the blend effect) and set the ghost effect number to 30 and the way the overlay follows you, makes it look like a cool flashlight, so you can give it a shot... i like it
yeah i did and then i also added a bit of yellow to the white and i used white for the middle to make it brighter as you said and it looked pretty cool😎🤯

your so nice. You immediatly say excuse me anytime you make a mistake. Also tip: I know u prob wont see this but if you right click you can "clean up blocks" which just lines your blocks up

Tip: If you don't want your fade to hide quickly when un-fading into your office, put a "Wait ___ seconds" block before your put a "hide" block

I've been waiting for part 2
So for starters, I'd just like to thank you so much for this tutorial series. Game creation has been my life-long passion pretty much. While this isn't some unreal engine type game, this has been a good first step for me, and you make it very easy to follow along with. However, there are still some things I'm curious about. The important one being the office. I don't know if they've just updated the site since this video, but your work area seems a lot larger than mine, and my office image wont go outside the borders. If I make it longer so you would normally be able to look side to side, it just seems to cut off the sides of the image. I have it in vector mode which I'm pretty sure you also have it in. If you could maybe give me some clarity on how to fit the office in the area, that'd be very helpful.

If you have it set to 120% (size) I found -1.4 to be the best number for movement of the office
For me the size is 170℅ and -7 for movement

i fixed the darkness overlay a different way. instead of making a sizer and doing extra code, i just changed the division thing inside the go to inside the forever loop. if it makes any sense, that is.

Omg I guessed how big my office should be and on the first try I got it right
instead of using the
"wait" command instead you can do this to make it a little bit cooler:
get another "when i receive "nightStart""
repeat "5"
wait 0.1
change ghost effect by 6
and also dont forget to add in when i receive green flag
set ghost effect to "0"
do you know how to fix the night screen? because for me it just keeps flashing and obstructing my view

I turned the Darkness overlay into a flashlight and created a second sprite that is the actual darkness and it will not be as dark when you click and hold, which activates the flashlight.
So I watched a diffrent thing and my new game thing didn’t work but when I switched to you IT WORKS IM GONNA MAKE MY DREAM GAME THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH
edit:nevermind i made so many over and over and over its always blurry and ive tried and tried and tried but i could never unblurr it now i will never

welcome to scratch, blurryness is a common thing
maybe try and convert the scratch code to another coding language. i had a friend who could do it

I think you forgot about the newspaper screen before fade because some fnaf fan game should have a newspaper before they start the night

i need help i have done everything the same in the code but when i press play the night screen dosnt fade in it only fades away help
hey guys! so what worked for me for the overlay i changed both division bublles form 2 or whatever to 6 so it could take up the entire screen hope this helps!

Edit: nevermind I had set ghost effect to 5/-5 instead of change ghost effect
i didnt need sizer for the overlay i just dragged the overlay off the sides of the box your ment to be in and resized it on the sides of the overlay to go the direction they were ment to be and dragging to the sides of the box basically it was bigger than what it was meant to be

ok so what i did was i was to lazy to fix the black office thing so i made the overlay just on the office texture
I copied your code for the fnaf game sprite to sprite with all of the code matched up and i double checked but when i click play instead of the fade sprite going over the whole thing it just switches back to the static sprite and just shows me the code, i dont know what i happening but the fade sprite is broken
for the fade it started then it turned in to the nights
At one point the static just stopped working, any ideas on how to fix?
Hey, I'm new to making a game, so it may just be me being cringe, but the Night# variable isn't appearing for me where I can drag it and put it where the night system works, can you try to help out?

basically go to the variable blocks and press and press make a variable. then type night#. the reason why to type night# is to keep easier track of all the things that happen
making it broadcast fade seems like a weird decision, you could have just done when i receive nightscreen

I have a weird grey box in the top-left of the screen that says “Night Screen: night#” with “1” in an orange box next to it. Any way to get rid of that?
