The longer story:
I had been meaning to do some sort of collaboration video with my friend Brandon and find a way to meaningfully cross promote each others brand. He owns an awesome clothing company (threadsociety.com - I've worn the clothing in countless videos). With his help and generosity, I got out to New York City so we could do a nice video where we help out the homeless and give away clothing (sweaters, beanies, gloves, etc) to keep them warmer since Winter is coming.
What originally started out as a pretty simple and small concept completely transformed and evolved after we ran into Jaroslav (pronounced: YA-ROH-SLAV). It's really fascinating how people manage to cross paths with one another in these split moments. We could have just as easily not been there at that exact moment and time and day. Decades worth of circumstances in each one of our lives led us to that very moment of meeting.
I approached Jaroslav but he didn't speak any English. It was me, Scout (filming), Brandon, Michael, and Simona (Brandon's girlfriend). We found out he spoke some Russian, luck would have it that Simona spoke Russian. We bring him a cup of coffee (not shown) and speak with him. He explains to us how he ended up in his predicament and how he was robbed. We express we want to help.
So we hop in a cab and get him his own hotel room (a nice one!). We let him shower, bring him some pizza, then ask if he wants to get a haircut / shave. We bring him to a barber shop (Chelsea Hair Studio). Let me just say, I think Jaroslav got a better haircut / shave than anyone of us ever have. Well, I've never even had a shave in a barber shop, but I honestly was a little jealous :). If you're in New York City, def. stop by the Chelsea Hair Studio and ask for Mike - you're going to get an A+ cut and shave.
After that we get Jaroslav back to the hotel. I think it's important to note this, but we offered Jaroslav a beer, and he declined it - stating he doesn't drink. Many people have this notion that the homeless are all drug addicts and alcoholics - but Jaroslav was completely the opposite - I think ANYONE can find themselves with a set of circumstances that lead them to misfortune.
Anyways, the team go out and plan. We struggle a bit because of some visa issues (he did have a hand-written passport that he got from the Czech consulate after he was robbed) but after some research we find the appropriate flight for him to take (we get him on a flight to Prague)
We surprise him back at the hotel and tell him we got him a flight back home (he had expressed to us that he wanted to leave and get home - one of the things I found most inspiring, is he didn't EVER ask us for anything - despite his situation, he was honestly one of the most strong and stoic man I've ever had the opportunity of meeting).
We see a few moments ourselves where he does finally get emotional, but I thought it was more beautiful that we see him entirely composed the entire time and we could see cracks and moments of emotion - versus exuberance and almost exaggerated joy at the smallest thing. I appreciated his resolve.
What we unfortunately didn't get to film this and include it in the video, is he had a small suitcase with some belongings I imagine he acquired while homeless (the sad thing was that the handle wouldn't retract back into the suitcase as most do - it was stuck). As we were leaving the room to head to the airport, he left EVERYTHING behind (he had no luggage). He told us: "Garbage"...
At the airport, we bring him and show him where he had to go and give him $100 for any food or anything he needs to buy (long flight back to Europe). We say goodbye. As we left we noticed he kept looking back at us, with a smile on his face.
Special thanks to:
Mike & Chelsea Hair Studio

2 years since the previous message asked the question not 1 person has replied with an answer to his question. Oh and by the way my own pop's whom worked underground in coalmines from the age of 14 until aged 49! Where he suffered a massive heart attack 1.5 miles underground the earth's surface while at the end of a treble shift that's a straight 24 hrs!
He just finished and saw a newbie struggling to use a shovel to move over a tonne in weight of spilt coal, and my pops took pity and took the shovel and did that lads job for him, then dropped from a heart attack!
Yet I never once heard my pops complain to anyone including us his family about how hard his job or his life was.
Oh! And we were left with no income for more than 1 year during the 1984/85 coal miners strike! Like all the other miners and their families
Prime minister Maggie (who's now sucking coxk in hell) thatchers pre-planned war against miners
RE: "You did it for the views / money"
I think we would be happy if we even recoup expenses. This was not a low budget project. Flight for me + filmer to NYC from California and back, 7 day hotel, expenses while there. Jaroslav: Last minute purchase of 1way international flight to Europe from NYC, hotel in NYC, $70 cab ride to JFK airport, $70 cab ride back, new clothes, food, other expenses. Absent this video going very viral, I do not think expenses will be covered. But that doesn't matter, and that isn't important. What is important is the following: On a small scale, we helped this man - and he will pay it forward. On a large scale, we distribute this video to the entire world to see, and if it brings a smile to you, even momentarily - pay it forward.
Respect +++
so you spent around $2500-$4000 im guessing.
You and other dudes who helping homeless are great example and inspiring for all of us.
No matter what is the motive...that person is fed, clothed and happy for what you have done for him and that is what really matter. Good essence, good deed and good manner
Who cares just ignore them. More money for you. More money for the homeless as well. :)
You don`t have to explain anything. As long as you do a good thing, your motivation doesn`t matter. Don`t mind the heaters and trolls.
Good job
This actually made me cry, especially with the music. It's like, I can't imagine how frightened he was thinking he would never see his family again and being stuck in a foreign country not knowing the language. You guys seriously have inspired me with your kindness.
^^🙏🙌💙
I cried too
Well, in his situation i‘d just work at Mc Donalds for a month to get a plane ticket. Or just work for cash at some restaurant washing dishes. You dont need a working license or passport for that.
@@batterynerd8779 have to speak English, genius.

I hope hes with his family now.
I'm sure that he is.

It gives me this strange sense of embarrassment when people come to the USA as foreigners and end up getting mistreated, living a nightmare and wanting to go home. It hurts because you know it shatters their idea of what the USA is and why they wanted to come.
dacypher22 the world is like this, not just the USA
Javier Heisecke I know this stuff happens all over the world. Even worse in some places. This is more about my own experience living in the USA. So many people in other countries fight to come here believing that life will be better, and even if some of them have unrealistic expectations of what the country can offer them, as an American it makes me feel embarrassed that their trip to the USA ends up being one of the worst periods of their life. That is all I meant.
Kaptain Kid he probably had a beard when he went there. Then was stuck there for a month or smth
dacypher22 that and what they do to everyone who they consider the least bit foreign or different in any way even though the only reason the US and Canada have so many ethnicities is because they took the land from the natives

I´m from Czech Republic, thank you for what you did for him!:) it´s a pity you didn´t go with him to see my country and how the story ended..

Tekin Beyoglu oh really? that´s nice to read:) what do you like about Prague the most?:))

I was in Prague too :D
What I enjoyed the most was the central areas and the old jewish "district", kinda reminded me of Paris.
And in Prague there is like a Waterpark somewhere, that was great as well :)

Chloe Berman wow that´s nice:) have you been to Czech Rep. od Slovakia?
Now that is how you really help a friend of this world :)

I loved this video. "Be the good you want to see in this world"
Sometimes the world is harsh but then there are rare times when a few people actually cares. My uncle is one of those rare ones, he drove a homeless person before and it motivates me to be a better person.
I'm very touched of what you have done to this homeless man, Jaroslav. You don't have to have a super strength, mind control or any kind of superpowers to be a hero.
You HELPED a man that needs help, a stranded man in a big city. A man that already lost all his hope to see all his families, to see his son, his daughter.
While the other people turn their heads away pretended not to see this poor man, all of you choose to stand and gave that man a helping hand.
I did not see any religion, racial or even nationality differences in this video. All I see is a pure human to human connection with their pure souls.
I wish for you all the best, and for that man to see his family back. This is how humans are supposed to be. A hero inside everyone's heart.
:D. I'm only 12 and I wish I could give a homeless man food and money, because every time I see one I tear up. When I grow up I'm going to help every homeless man I see.
Falcon Lord you're a good kid, Falcon Lord. I hope you will be an amazing person in the future. :) me myself is only 22, but I could tell you that you will face so many hardships when you grew up. But you will be fine if you always believe in yourself and having good intentions like that. Stay strong and stay positive, okay? :D God bless your kind soul! \(^w^)/
ceres cresendo Thanks! That comment really inspired me to try my best and be as kind and possible! ^u^
Falcon Lord yes, you should try your very best in every opportunity you have ^_^ but don't force yourself too hard, okay? you're still 12, and you can still have fun and play with your friends too :D let your amazing mom and dad handle the world problems for now. you'll have your time to shine when you're older and stronger (^-^)b be happy and have a nice day, Falcon :)
Hodně štěstí Jaroslave a ať se vám splní to, co jste si doteď přál.
A GREETINGS FROM CZECH REPUBLIC! :)

Our world needs a lot more of people like this. Listening to others, discussing, and helping. Great job guys.
tito lidé, co takto pomáhají mají u mě VELIKÝ respekt!
I'm a RUclips partner and they did NOT make their money back with this video. It was definitely not done for profit.
Going viral they will, definitely... but that's not the point, totally irrelevant if they make money or not, anyway they spend it helping people and bringing smiles :S
Babypatico As he said: RUclips partner. And whatever are youtube partners.
***** I could not agree with you more. it amazes me that some people think its wrong. well so what if they did make money they helped someone in real need. Only thing wrong with this is not enough people do it in my opinion. I say good luck to them and if they manage to help just one person then well done .
Hope the POS who robbed him watches this.
Centrist Philosopher
Centrist Philosopher Yes I watched it
Heart warming indeed
The POS DESERVES TO BE KILLED FOR WHAT THEY DID TO THIS POOR MAN
This is honestly so amazing, you guys are heroes.
I don't think hero is the correct word to use. These guys just had compassion and a story to tell about this homeless man and how he got that way. It's human compassion which, unfortunately, most of us lack.
***** heroes dont have to be superman and such they can just be ordinary people with love careness and compassion
So, they are like heroes still...-_-
Screw what everyone is saying about whatever and other channels helping the homeless videos. THEY ARE HELPING THE HOMELESS. Whether they film it and make money out of it or don't, it's still a random act of kindness which is hard to find these days! Keep doing what your doing whatever!
I really want to find out what has happened with him. Please make a follow up video!
I would love to hear an update on him. make sure he made it home and was able to see his family
You all are truly good people, this is the kind of stuff that gives me hope about this country.
I'm from the Czech Republic too. Many ppl went to the US to start a new, better life. Jaroslav got unlucky. Thanks for bringing him home!
To whoever think this was for views or money, according to RUclips monetary values, this would have barely made the plane ticket back to Russia. I really do feel for this guy, keep making videos. Make people happy. You sure made me happy. Keep it up!
You feel for him? I feel for you as you are clearly not intelligent enough to pay attention to something for longer than 3 seconds and because you don't know that Russia and Czech Republic are different countries and the man was in fact from the Czech Republic, which he said in the video.
I wish the world was a better place without violence and we all had a home
that's the thing there are so many abandoned vacant homes doing nothing we could literally hoe every homeless in America but the govt is shit and so Is potus

I agree ... the world needs more people like them.

Haha I'm one of the ninjas find me if you can!
+Akirato They are everywhere, man! Especially on kind videos!
Akirato lool
I'm actually ok with people making a video of them helping the poor and homeless. It literally inspired a couple of my buddies to do the same this one time. Now every time they see someone who needs help they go into the stores and buy food or clothes. It's become the cool thing to help people. Be it for popularity or just out of a good heart, it's still helping. So I think this has been the best youtube trend yet. Keep it up!
Thank you SO much for doing this. It's incredibly heart-warming to see how happy Jaroslav gets. I hope he gets re-united with his family.
This is very sweet and emotional. This man is overwhelmed by all the love you have giving him! Big thanks to threads company and the /whatever crew!
He looks like a millionare

Uhm. ofc

It's because ha has a rich soul :D
He’s beyond
These are the acts of kindness that are rare in this world.
Theres still good people out there like these guys.
I hope he did well and a big cheer for you whatever made me shead a tear of happyness
A little bit of kindness can transform people's lives. Amazing.
What a chance of finding Czech homeless man in New York... I am from Czech Republic, this kinda makes me happy. Thx for the help. I can´t even imagine the hopelesness he had so far from home.
Wherever this man is now in the world, i hope he is well.
Saw this vid 9 years ago and it resurfaced. Thank god
This is so stupid. No one nowadays can help someone without a comment on their video saying "oh you didn't this for views and money." Whether or not, they still helped someone and that's the main point of this video.
Is there a way that you guys can check up on his situation back home? I would really love to see how he is doing now that he is back home and I really hope that he ends up back with his daughter and son :)
Now he is homeless, but in his country, YES!!
Petra Black Maybe Reddit users can help with that :O
Awesome. I love this new trend of helping out people among youtubers. Thumbs up.
I wonder how the Czech embassy or the consulate does not help a citizen who was stolen and does not even provide him with a ticket back to his country !! This is impossible and unbelievable!!!
Embassies usually do. Since he's an EU citizen he could try going to any EU country's embassy, as well.
whether they did for publicity or just to be nice, it is still a very nice thing to see
Would love it if we could hear from him in the future.
Truth is the channel will end up making money instead of losing. Think of it as a celebrity helping out during a disaster. They're only there when cameras see them and they announce how much they donate. In return they get screen time and popularity. Same goes for these guys, they will make triple what they gave this guy easy.
This was probably the best thing I’ve ever seen a youtuber do for a person.
This was very heartwarming ❤️
If they don't make a video of it, they won't have money to help them out as much as they did. I wish more people were like this. The world would be a much better place
I'm sure they make plenty from their other vids. Be realistic.
SONYroxs stop being such a buzzkill
***** "you sound like a real fuck" stay in school son, expand that vocabulary.
I'm crying all over the place. I hope that man found his children. I'm hoping so hard. Really, really hard...
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
Greetings from czech rep. and thanks for helping one of ours. If you ever get to Prague, hook me up, I buy you a beer.
Im so glad that i have a home and people around me that can help
***** fuck you
***** What does that have to do with socialism? He said he wants to help people and hopes others will too. That isn't socialism. If you're referring to wealth redistribution, yes I disagree with that too; but as long as it's voluntary it is a beautiful thing to help others in need.
***** You shut the fuck up. You give capitalism a bad name when you slander people who do charity. You realize that being charitable and kind to everyone in need is supposed to be a pillar of successful capitalism don't you? Asswipe.
Good work. This guy got really unlucky and you helped him get back to track. My eyes got wet when I read he though he was going to die there.
Omg my heart feel so warm and wanna cry watching this....
I am a Captain in the military currently serving I Afghanistan and it is an honor to be able to say I am defending the freedoms of excellent young people like yourself. You RUclips channel brings a lot of smiles to both me and my men; and when you do things like this it touches our hearts to no end. It's great to some of our young Americans doing good things like this and aren't engrossed in greed and themselves.
You dont need to go to Afghanistan to 'defend' his freedom. He already has the freedom and the means, and nobody is threatening them. You even don't have to be American to do good things. Oh , the guy that robbed him in NY probably was American

Oh my gosh man, God bless you dude, I bet that man was lost without hope.
I really hope more people do these kinds of video's. Just to think what this mans future could of been if not for good people, on top of that he is 1 of the most genuine people iv seen. God bless that dude. Hope he see his son and daughter.

That's a really nice thing to do and I totally agree with you
"If you're not making someones else life better, than your wasting your time"
you guys did something amazing for this person, that is one of many reasons I am subscribe to your channel
It's such a terrible fucking world we live in where a group of people helping the less fortunate are seen as exploiting the homeless for their own gains.
Seriously what the hell do half of the other people here do that's so important that they feel they can call other people out on helping people with less than us?
Have you spent 10 grand on the homeless lately?
I cried from the tears he shed, the pain he must have injured from the thought of never seeing his children again, Finally being able to go back home, Finally reunited with the life that had been taken from him.
try not to cry challenge!!
Marian well i faild😂
I didn’t cry lmao it was sad tho
I didnt cry but this was so sad
I failed and right and right after the video I got outside and gave in total to homeless people 200 dollars

This makes me feel so warm and so thankful to know that there r people like you guys in this world. Totally teared up watching this. Hope the man get there safely.
You all did a great thing for this man, showed some kindness, compassion, and humanity. Thank You All !
I don't understand why people are complaining about the fact that this is becoming a "RUclips trend." Who the fuck cares? People are getting help and that's all that really matters. Just shut your mouth if all you're going to do is complain about the kindness of strangers. This is wonderful, I hope more people do this and spread the word to inspire others to help those in need. (:

Uh no
Mckenzie Boyer Because that is how we all get stupid..
Wtf are you talking about?
Mckenzie Boyer Why so serious?
To anyone doubting the motives of the video,
I have a feeling that this homeless project was inspired by Vitaly's work with Martin. Since then I have seen several videos, including this one, that have seen people working with the homeless and helping them get back into the swing of things. I do not know Vitaly's intentions with the Martin video, nor do I know the motives of any other videos. I only know the motives of this one, as whatever has shared the expenses and other things that had been used to make this video.
My point here is, regardless of one's motives, it still inspired other people to do it and help a man get his life back together. I think that it is amazing that there are so many people making all of these videos and showing us that a simple or not so simple gesture can truly change a life and it can make US smile! It inspires people to step up and do something, too.
Thank you whatever, I appreciate you sharing this moment with us all.
seeing people happy makes me smile
What the fuck is the problem? Why is everyone so ignorant?
1. They help a homeless person
2. They record it and post it on RUclips
3. They get money from RUclips
4. They can go out and help more homeless people
5. We continue to be entertained by their videos
Who the fuck is losing here? I don't understand why so many of you guys are saying they're only doing this for the money...? If they were doing it for the money then they would ONLY make prank videos so that way they don't have to spend $1000+ on flying a homeless person back to the Czech Republic.
I was just wondering how these people like whatever or LAHFT get money from RUclips. I have nothing against this video. just wondering through endorsements?
Nate Kreysar Have you not noticed the adverts on RUclips videos? When 1,000 people see a video ad, the video creator gets paid around $3 to $20 for the ad. But they do get a bit of additional money from sponsorships some of the time, but most of their income is from the ads that you see on videos.
Nate Kreysar adds
macmaster4848 the video creator only gets about 30% though, google gets the rest.
Evanderep's Animations
Google takes about 20%, and from what's left over, if the RUclipsr is part of a network, the network takes an additional 30%, but with big RUclipsrs, they take about 5% or 10%.
Will we hear about him again or not?
Ok this was very generous, you actually got a man home from U.S. To Czech. If he were my dad I would of died in sadness just thinking he might never comeback home. God bless all who took part in this.
Wtf... The level of kindness is beyond words. Bravo.
there is still hope in humanity !
thank you !
You guys are so considerate and good! Gob bless you people for helping someone, your pay won't necessary come in the future as money but you will get something back! :D
Poor guy, what a way to live the american dream...I wish we could see how he is now!
I have no words for this video... it’s amazing how people help one another it should always be like that. Thank you
I'm from The Czech republic, and I was crying while watching. Guys, you are really awesome! The problem is that our politicians are idiots and that is a reason why lots of people don't have a job here. On the other hand I would be bloody scared of going somewhere if I didn't know language. I hope Jaroslav is happy now.
Jaroslave, přeji Vám v životě hodně štěstí. A obdivuji Vás, s jakým klidem jste vše ustál.
Omg, I've never seen homeless guy in USA from my country. I'm from Czech republic too. This video really made me cry
Tohle by se tady v Český republice nikdy nestalo. Nikdo by nepomohl. Je to krásný, že mu pomohli.
This would never happen here in Czech republic. No one would help him. It's so nice that they helped him.
This is so amazing, so glad there are still people out there that have amazing hearts like you :)
OMG i cried as soon as i read he wants to see his son & daughter. This was more than kindness. Very, very over whelming xoxoxo
If they really wanted to do it for views/money they coulda easily picked a homeless man that spoke english and give them better "content" for their videos. The fact that they chose this man and stuck with him to the end is what makes this great.

Just ask your mom before you giving a stranger some money, i sure she will know if he is a real homeless or not.

No, you can't know unless you follow them "home".
rterter eterterterte I mean, in almost every neighborhood there is a homeless, and most of the people there knows that person. So maybe a 8 year old kid should ask his mom :D .
Still want to be one?
Krejčíře by přivezli, ale normálnímu člověku pomoci nedokážou!!!

Thank to USA.
this made me cry tnx guys for helping him..i hope we can get update on him..godbless u all..

Did he make it :(
Wish we could have seen his reaction to arriving home and seeing his children.

2. He arrived and he is homeless
