- This was such fun to make because I had my tongue firmly planted in my cheek during the editing process! As I watched the film, which is a political thriller about two best friends who end up double crossing one another, and, interestingly, in which James Spader and John Cusack are intriguingly cast against type, the whole film was screaming homoerotic subtext at me. Spader and Cusack make a stunning pair in this movie, where you're never sure who to root for, and they share many a moment that would set any self-respecting slasher's bells ringing, including the memorable drinking scene and the Brief Encounter-esque train station scene. Incidentally, the tagline on the title screen of this vid is the second half of the tagline on the UK version of the DVD, which reads 'Friendship and betrayal. It's not all black and white.' I thought the sentiment worked well for a slashy video ;)
I have quite a few of my friends to thank for the final choice of song - Steph, Tony and Sian in particular for spending a lunchtime listing possible songs with a homoerotic subtext, and Steph especially for coming up with Black Velvet, which seemed to fit the bill perfectly (not least for John Cusack's 'little boy's smile' in certain parts of this film!). Also thanks to Esther who helped me make the final decision and to Dana for linking to my vids from jamesspader.org . Alannah Myles' raw, sexy voice works brilliantly with the footage, and adds a real erotic charge to some of the key scenes of the movie. I wasn't sure, when I started this songvid, whether or not I could carry off a video to such a powerful song, but I hope I've managed to - I'm certainly well pleased with the result :) - Развлечения
James spader wonderful 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👐
Thanks, it's really lovely of you to comment :) I'm glad you enjoyed it - more on the way soon :)
Wow. I've always had a soft spot for James Spader and John Cusack (two old childhood crushes) along with Andrew McCarthy. I hadn't realised that they'd made a film together (or forgotten probably). They do spend a lot of time staring at each other and hugging and touching. *sigh* Can I have a John Cusack/James Spader/Andrew McCarthy sandwich please??? :o)
... I must see this film. But, I'm afraid it won't live up to this video.
What am I saying? John Cusack, James Spader and homoerotic subtext can't possibly lose.
James spader=hot
John cusack=hot
Kames spader ANF John Cusack=----

Thanks very much - it's not a very well known film, but certainly one well worth watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid :)

Excellent!!! One of my favorite movies and soundtracks, especially the end theme song.
This is so much fun! I was talking about this movie, about how slashy I remember it being, and this vid is such a great reminder of exactly why.

This movie is indeed homoromantic, even homoerotic. But aren't all Spader movies?
