    I looked up the part numbers for the Elring front and rear crankshaft seals and they both are made with PTFE materials. In my experience, you need to install that type of seal dry with no oil or else you destroy the seal's ability to dress the crank end with PTFE to get the seal to work properly. Hopefully those seals survived and won't be needing to be replaced soon. But nice job on the video, I enjoyed watching it.

      You are not the only one who comment about the seals installing, i know very well what they recomand on installing but as you know that seal, seals OIL and its not recomended to be installed with oil, onestly i dont know anyone wich did same as me and he need to replace that seal, i have 5 years on one engine, 3 years on a drag car on wich i did same thing with the oil and no leaks or any problems by now, and if you think in 5 years maximum anyway you will change the timming so that 5£ seal can be replaced in same time very easy, but as i sayd I dont think its gonna leak.

      @lagzdinalagzdina3658 Hi mate, i have nearly 3 years now since ive rebuild that engine and that engine is a beast, drive spot on and no issue, no oil leaks or amy other problems. Now when i install the oil seals i have started to use siliconic grease wich it doesn't affect in any way any seals .

    What is the deal with oil on head gasket?
    Can you advise on some good shop in EU which sells PD injectors with firad or similar nozzles?

      Hi, i choose to oil the gasket a bit for a better and sure sealing before tightening in my opinion but its not necessary, and the firad injectors you can but from many places as : darkside developments (uk, not eu) , ProRaceEngineering (uk) , Santerchips.com (portugal) and few others but most in uk, santerchips its ok.

      Ador sunetul PD-ului ! Am un gof 4 1.9 asz încă am de șurubărit la el , abia am terminat cu articulații, frâne, interior ce a ținut de mine . Încep cu motorul sper după ce ies din iarnă .
      Ca și sfat te rog mult… când se încălzește apa pe la 50’ nu mai merge rotund întrerupe când ajunge l 70-80 nu mai face ,dimineața pornește bine, rar când este caldă mai lung puțin .

      Posibil cablaj injectoare, contact imperfect, se dilata mufele dupa ce se incalzeste si merge ok.

    How do you like the clutch? It looks like a racing style?

      The clutch isn't the best option for comfort, but it is a Sachs SRE performance ceramic paddle with dual mass. It holds a lot of power, but it is very, very annoying in town as it takes a bit of force to push it down.

      Hello, its very hard to find all links to all new parts as takes some time, you need to go on Autodoc car parts app and select your vehicle type then go and search for everything you want to change in the engine as you will find them all listed there.

      It will resist as a new one without any issues. As long as you do the service on time, it should be unbeatable.

    also when meassuring clearness of crank case no oil should be applied

      Mmmm ... yeah, unfortunately this is the way i do and i still wonder why i haven't had no problem with the head gasket by now, and that engine it works 300hp at the moment....

    Hello how was the ajm 115? Because i have the atj with too much boost pressure (so the cat doesn't have any boost) and don't know if this engine is reliable? What to do you think. Good vídeo ! I like it

      Hello, the AJM was actually very good, i had crack it by my fault when i change the head studs and been forced to change the block with another one, and ASZ i already had it so just put that on.

      @@epicuredeter157 Yes definately, i have stage 1 on bxe 1.9 dsg with 500k km on board, the turbo need to be in good condition that is the important thing.

    I seem to hear that metallic clingy knocking sound that corresponds with the camshaft rotation speed that my engine also produces. Is that normal?

      Everywhere a gasket was available i did used it, but at the oil sump this type of engine do not have one and they use sealant .

    very nice video ... i have questions ... are the tdi PD motors a tight fit or a rather loose fit? what do you think the oils in such tdi PD ..0w30 5w30 5w40 which parameter will provide better lubrication ... the oil should be thinner so that it is more distributed over the engine. or maybe more denser to stick to the moving parts of the engine., assuming normal driving .. in these engines, the cams of the shaft are damaged .. they are rolled .. which is the reason .. poor quality of the shafts. maybe glasses or maybe a roller lever of the injection pump .. sure you've heard about adding 2t oil for diesel to improve the lubricity of the diesel and thus improve the lubrication of unit injectors what is your opinion ??

      Hello, in my opinion there are few misunderstandings about camshafts on pd engines.
      One of the biggest problems is that the people use wrong oil specifications and in many cases any oil wich cause the premature wear of the camshaft and injectors.
      Another problems is that the pd owner's are just use wrong interval service mileage and not carring about engine exploatation driving type/style. For example if in a oil bottle says insterval oil change recomanded 15.000 km or 10.000 miles that is in the best scenario, wich the car should be driven just on highways and with the optimum cooling wich is impossible many times.
      So, as i know vw says 5w40 50501 is the norm for the pd's and ive always used that (motul specific 50501 5w40) and did the every change no more than 5000 - 7000 miles with it.
      I dont believe in long life oils as in most of the times we cannot meet the perfect conditions for them, so for me worked very well early oil change without camshaft or injectors premature wear.
      Offcourse depends a lot the driving mode, but you still should not use an oil as long as it says on the bottle.

      Salut, mulțumesc nu știu exact nu am schimbat asa, dar daca este 2.0 8 valve teoretic ar trebui sa mearga fara probleme 1.9 .

      Da ar trebui sa meargă numai sa fii atent la cutie, avf e de pe longitudinal daca nu ma insel si sa ai tot longitudinal pe masina.

      Hi, yes will fit but you need to redo the engine and gearbox mounts again from zero.

      Salut, nu stiu ce sa zic pana nu desfaci, trebuie desfăcut si verificat cilindrii si pistoanele, cel mai probabil chiuloasa ovalizata, cilindrii zgariati si pistoanele rupte intre segmenti. Nu ai decat sa desfaci.

    Great video thank you. I have a question, I’ve just rebuilt the bottom end of my ASZ and when I turn it over on the crank bolt on the bottom end of the stroke I get vibration when turning slowly? Any ideas?

      Hi, i dont know what happends, but check to have the rods caps and crank caps in the right order.

      @@WRCgarage thanks for the reply 👍. Everything is in correct order. I did turn the crank before fitting the pistons and it turned freely. With pistons in, when each pistons gets to the bottom end of stroke there is tight spots. I’ve had it honed, all new bearings and new piston rings.

    Salutari, si tot respectul in ceea ce ai facut aici. Detin si eu un 2.0 tdi BRE, planuiesc sa-i fac un rebuild stock. Am vazut prin comentarii ca ai spus ca nu ai planat chiuloasa. Stiu ca parerile sunt impartite in subiectul asta. Eu nu am probleme cu ea, precum sa imi incinga sau altceva... Ce imi poti recomanda ? Nu m-am uitat inca sa vad cate gauri are (daca a mai fost umblat in la el). Dar in cazul in care am 3, ce fac ? Mai merita sa il desfac ?

      Salut, da, nu e relevant câte gauri are garnitura, eu cel puțin prefer sa pun cu 3 chiar dacă nu este nevoie, chiuloasa eu personal nu o rectific dacă nu are probleme, doar o curăț bine și o pun asa, pentru ca fiecare planare mai ia câte 0.5 mm din ea.

      The engine block seems to be stronger on asz/arl , in rest small difference betwen them, dont know exactly but i think yes injectors and turbos are a bit smaller that ARL one.

      Pai uleiul trece prin ea pentru ungerea ei, de asta este si ulei prin ea, dar ea produce vacuum si impinge motorina la o anumita presiune.

    Hello, I have an Audi A4 B7 1.9 TDI 85kW, BKE code, my car suffers from engine power loss for the last few years, I've remapped the ECU, blanked the EGR valve, checked the catalytic converter, new turbo fitted, all vacuum hoses are just fine, changed MAF and MAP sensor, changed tandem pump, and yet my car doesn't have power, right now I'm experiencing sometimes some short shaking on startup for a few seconds, with nothing else left, I'm assuming that one or two injectors' pump is shot, the car doesn't smoke even under heavy acceleration, the only problem is that it doesn't have power, anybody who knows what could it be, please give me your advices, and just to mention, I've used for about a full year Mobil-1 5w40 engine oil which doesn't meet PD engine specs 505.01...

      Hello mate, i dont know, you need to check many things, injectors loom, injectors o-rings, camshaft for heavy wear, any cylinder head cracs, injectors correct setup, it may be something from the remaping or lack of fuell on tandem pump, lack of compression. I dont know it may be many things you can't guess it though the phone, but you can check many of them and it may take you to the answer.

About 2 years ago, I've done cylinder head resurfacing and fitted a new head gasket, changed injectors' O-rings, camshaft is also fine, it would make a big noise from engine bay if it's worn, sometimes I feel like it's depending on fuel, after I changed tandem pump, the power came back, but only for about 7 days then it sucks again...

      @n.n8192 You still have to remove the gearbox anyway because you dont have enough space on the left to move the engine until the clutch is out of the box, so the easyest way is together

    La distribuția de la 1,9 tdi, pompe duze.
    Care sunt cuplurile de strângere (eventual plus grade)?
    Mă refer la fulie axei cu came (surubul central si cele 3 suruburi pentru reglaj avans), la fulia vibrochenului, la pompa de apă, rola de ghidaj si rola întinzătoare.

    Dar trebuia să amorsezi bine cel mai ușor e să pui contactu de vreo 20xori și se amorseaza perfect și nu trebuia să învîrtă de atîtea ori motoru pe uscat (adică pornit la rece) în rest nota10 cu steluță. Foarte fain lucru.

      Salut, stiu foarte bine cum pot porni un motor la sfert dupa reconstructie, ideea este ca arunci cand motorul este gol goluț de ulei, segmenti noi, cuzineti noi peste tot important este sa înceapă ungerea inaintea pornirii altfel nu am făcut nimic, deci intentionat fac acest lucru pentru ai da timp motorului sa se ungă, iar partea cu contactul pus de mai multe ori nu este chiar așa pentru că pompa din rezervor nu poate umple toata instalatia singură fără a fi ajutata de pompa tandem care actioneaza doar in timp ce se învârte.

      Pentru daily ambreiaj normal sau cel mai ok pentru o viață mai lunga un disc batut in kevlar, de motor momentan nu sunt in tara.

      ciao!!! tutto dipende dallo stato del motore, se il gioco cilindro-pistone e importante sfortunatamente non sarà sufficiente, e davvero complicato prevedere i pezzi (di conseguenza prezzi) del rifare un motore, il tutto viene valutato solo dopo misurazioni!!! ad ogni modo, se davvero vuoi fare solo fasce e bronzine, sarà obbligatorio una passata in rettifica per spazzolare i cilindri... se il tuo problema e l'eccessivo consumo d'olio, devi anche verificare il gioco delle guide valvole e cambiare i relativi gommini in bocca al lupo

      I haven't break it, just crack it when i replace the head bolts 1 by 1 as some oil leack in one of the hols and crack when i try to tight the bolt.

      @@WRCgarage I meant that procedure after repairing engine. You've replaced many things, even piston rings. After those repairs, there should be procedure after first start of the engine (like in first 500kms drive on medium load or running it right away at 2000rpm for 20min). Or you just drove it at certain loads ?

      Ohh sorry, no the engine is limited to max 3000 rpm for 1000 km , i allready have now 700km with engine and everything going very well, i wasnt home for last 10 months since ive rebuilt it.

      @@WRCgarage Scuze de pauza, dar, munca și munca ...totul a început cu un check engine de la sonda lambda, senzorul de pe motor. Cu mentalitate de român, am zis că "las că merge" și am mers cu ea așa , mașina fiind incapabilă să facă regenerare. La un test au ieșit vreo 30-40mg depuneri și am vorbit cu băiatul sa șteargă eroarea. Toate bune, o tură de autostradă, regenerare, cât am stat la o țigară in poarta, check iar...de data asta mi am băgat...și am mers cu el așa 2 luni. La o alta verificare...70-80 mg depuneri. Și i am zis sa o scoată permanent daca poate. Din nou, cu 40 lei sonda noua și etc...după ce a scos eroarea, să nu mă mai lungesc, regenerare permanenta timp de 3-4 zile ..la orice cheie...regenerare. și mă întorceam de la munca, autostrada, 180 la ora, a început să sughițe...o las din accelerație, și mai rău făcea. Apas ambreiajul sa o las pe liber și la secunda a murit motorul. După, cheie...nimic..dpf ul era deja roz. O las sa se răcească, cheie...tremura toată mașina. Să scurtez din nou povestea, merge in 2 pistoane acum și scoate fum și pe eșapare și pe lângă turbină. Fum alb/albastru. La o verificare de ulei ..am concluzionat că din toată motorina aia de o lua pe evacuare să facă regenerarea, o parte a ajuns in baie. De la presiunea aia la 180, a luat o pe la culbutori, pe la epuratorul de gaze, și în loc de gaze, a tras ulei turbina, aveam 1 litru de ulei in intercooler. Turbina la verificări ulterioare in service pare ok. Injectoare verificate, ok ..capac culbutori cu epurator schimbate, ok...compresie lipsa pe pistoanele 3-4 e deznodamantul. După presupusele lor, piston fisurat, "ia ți alt motor". Ca sa se îl desfaca oricine până la chiulasa îmi cer minim 1500 lei. As face asta, pentru că poate fi ceva minuscul, și scap de motor nou, care oricum variază între 25-40 mil. Am înțeles că, e complicat da înlocuiesc doar pistoanele problema că nu se pupa cu cămașa, că sunt grele, trebuie rectificare bloc...etc. deci mai repede iau altul. Dar așa orientativ, ce diagnoza ii faci tu? Am mai auzit și de vibrochen/ax cu came rupte...dar nu e cazul, mașina pornește și cuplează ambreiajul, deci ambele capete sunt conectate.

      Da, nu poti ști exact ce s-a întâmplat până nu desfaci motorul si vezi, dar in timpul regenerării dpf-ului temperatura in camera de ardere crește foarte mult, si daca ziceți ca a mers in regenerare câteva zile iar dpf-ul probabil că fiind înfundat sau aproape blocat nu a permis o evacuare in timp util a gazelor, si creând contrapresiune intre el si camera de ardere, este posibil ca pistoanele 3-4 sa fi cedat de la racirea necorespunzătoare, poate a pierdut lichid de răcire sau nu era de ajuns si motorul a fost pe punctul de a se "cala" de acolo posibilă si oprirea motorului in mers, bineînțeles ca turbina fiind intre dpf si motor din cauza contrapresiunii din evacuare probabil a bagat ulei pe admisie iar motorina in unei probabil de la pistoanele 3 si 4 care au cedat primele s-au topit/fisurat si nu au mai putut face presiune suficienta pentru combustie si toata injectia s-a scurs in ulei. Fiind common rail si nu PD aș exclude ca ar fi ceva la chiuloasa insa nu este imposibil. Trebuie dată chiuloasa jos prima data si văzut daca sunt pistoane afectate într-adevăr sau macar merita incercat cu o mini camera bagata pe orificiul bujiilor si verificat inainte.

      No i didnt, you do that just if you had any overheating problems or head gasked burn before to remore it from the engine, if the head was working well you just need to clean it up the old gasket marks and that's it.

      Asz or arl they are not different on fitting, i dont know sure if you can fit and asz/arl on AFN gearbox and mounts but should be pretty same i think.
