    If you haven't bought one yet, look at the mirka leros, hands down best sander I've used. Lighter, 180 degree pivoting head, and random orbital.......floats across ceilings. I've found sanding ceilings easier then walls. It's a thing of beauty.

      I sand with my festool rts400 eq hooked to a ct26. I find it better than pole sanding and easier in the body than the planex. By being right up on the work you get results you want as you move on. Plus you can use it for other sanding tasks.
      I have used the planex (not this sander)and didnt like it. I had to do too much touch up sanding

  • @michaelstiller2282

    This product is not for sanding the final coat. If a hard sun light hits the wall perpendicularly, you will see that the tool cuts the compound in a circular motion. The final coat should still be sanded by hand with a pole sander, and sanded in the same way a painter will roll on the paint.

    Been watching your videos for years but didn't think I'd see you reviewing a Planex, how cool is that? It looks like they really knocked it out of the park with this except for one thing... no led light ring around the sanding head. The best way to see imperfections in drywall is to shine a light sideways across the wall, a light ring on that head would have been perfect. Knowing Festool they'll sell it as an accessory! Their brand of led lights cost an arm and a leg, would have pushed that price well over 1k though

    I have both the original planex and the new easy planex. Im 5'10 and i was sanding 10ft ceilings on the weekend with the planex easy, without a harness, off the floor, no stilts. If your doing 8-10 foot ceilings you don't need a harness for drywall sanding, because its lighter and the head design on the easy planex makes it much easier to operate as compared to the older model. Since I got the the planex easy, the older model is parked in the garage. they should discontinue the older planex sanding head and upgrade it. If your a contractor I wouldn't bother with the old version, because for 8-10 foot ceilings you will need a harness to keep the sanding head on the surface, with the easy planex, you just place it on the ceiling and walk it down.

      I could try but it is hard to change them. Considering I'm a rookie and the boss tries some. Maybe when the boss retires and they take over in Jan they will realize the cost of work comp and decide to change. The boss always says to clean clean clean. He has even said connect the tool to a vac at times. I listen or at least try. They are more "listen when the boss is at the jobsite then do it our way after the boss leaves the jobsite". Not all the time but in some cases. Part of our old fashionedness could partly be the bosses fault too. He can be inefficient at times and indecisive. He is also in his 70's, done construction for 30+ years, and stubborn. Before I got the job around 15 months ago, all guys but one barely had any cordless tools. A basic brushed drill and impact kit and maybe a saw. Now there is a bit more cordless stuff now but not much yet. They are changing but very slow.

      Hey Rob, as always another great video. I am a carpenter and originally from Pennsylvania where our jobs we hung plaster board and had a finished skim coat. Moved to Canada a couple years ago and building and remodeling. Does this work good on drywall? And how good does it work without the heppa vac? Can it hook up to shop vac? Thanks

    • @ConcordCarpenter
      @ConcordCarpenter  7 лет назад

      Yes it does work on drywall, extremely well. Well I haven't tried it I'm sure it will work another vacuum as long as you use a good filter. You may run into problems with the hose connection I wish I could be figured out pretty easy with connectors

    Good day Sir. I wanna ask you something about hose. Is there available this casing for 36mm hose? I asked this because they have it for smaller diameter hoses. But now on your video i see there is 36 mm. hose with casing. If they have it, there is any opportunity to buy it separate? I am a owner of planex previous model five years and to be honest, I want to say that I'm really disopointed them.Their dust extraction works only on 80% especially on ceiling. However I also have mirka ceros and may say that it's dust extraction works on 99%. Thanks for your video and waiting for your answer.

    Any idea how this would work on painted walls? I deal with a lot of crappy paint jobs, heavy texture left from previous painters, drips, etc. Would be nice if I could just hit the walls with the planex, and then top off with fresh primer or finish coat.

      In the north east United States we still install plaster over blueboard. Blueboard it looks very similar to drywall except it is completely covered with a thin veneer coat of plaster. Drywall is seen mostly in commercial applications as well as lower budget projects.

    • @DavesCave
      @DavesCave 7 лет назад

      Your blue board, is that a fibre cement sheet material? That's what it is here.
      In Australia drywall, plasterboard or gyprock (a brand name typically used in refference to all plasterboard) is the norm on all housing.
      Our blue board is used more for tiles areas and outdoor

      I must retract my statement made a year ago. I recently mudded a huge paint fail where all of the paint literally was peeling off of the drywall and not the mudwork so I had to float the whole house to fix.
      We broke the planex out and this time I took dialing it in seriously.
      It performed beyond what I hoped. I mean next to nothing dust wise. Im gonna dig around for a video clip I made.
      In summary I was ignorant in my initial comment because I hadn't done my homework and learned the tool!
