Love the way you say Vietnamese New Year instead of Chinese New Year :)
In Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand they call it Chinese New Year to make a difference as they have many other ethnic races there too. But this cannot be said for Vietnam. Generally is call Lunar New Year worldwide base on Lunar calendar. I am ethnic overseas Chinese I see there are no different regarding the New Year taboos, cultures and customs between the Vietnamese and Chinese. BTW I love seeing Vietnamese girl in their traditional Ao Dai. Its so amazing.
@@Utube1024 it depends on people celebrate. You are Chinese and you celebrate the Chinese new year. Korean celebrate Korean new year and also with Vietnamese is Vietnamese new year. They have the same time but different in ways of hosting. I bet that in Indonesia or Malaysia or Thailand only Chinese people celebrate Lunar new year not Thai or Malay or Indo.
Love the way how Vietnamese new year is celebrated with Chinese elements and Chinese characters😂
@@danielli3332 i love Tet, Vietnamese new year 🧨😘
@@danielli3332 :v well, Vietnamese used CHinese characters in the past, just like how Malay and Turkish used Arabic scripts
Beautiful country, beautiful clothes, beautiful colors, beautiful food , and most of all Super Beautiful 🥰🇻🇳Pho 🇻🇳💛❤️

Tet is similar to Chinese New Year that I celebrate in Malaysia. Awesome video Van Vu
Thanks! 😃
I love the traditional vietnamese dresses. Very classy.
Happy Vietnamese New Year!
Thank you for helping foreigners know more about Vietnamese Lunar New Year customs !!
Unfortunately, it is impossible to see a comparison between the traditional Lunar New Year customs of the regions
^^ So
But for me, the content of the video or the expression of the host really can't be as compelling as the effort of the person who tried to come up with such a great product that makes me feel really admire.
This video does not only demonstrate a simple lifestyle with intimacy but (also) a high seriousness in it
I will surely follow and support you and your path ~~
Aw!! Thank you so much for your kind word! I'll try my best to put out great content for people. Happy Tet!

The customs are very similar with those we have in Guangdong, China. Even the way we call the red envelops is almost identical.
That's great to know! We share many similar cultures and I found it great to understand and connect with people through food and culture that way :)
Vietnamese culture has adopted Confucius teaching and imported Buddhism and tea culture from China.
Vietnam gets the most influences from Chinese culture due to the fact that it was part of China for more than 1000 years, and then more than 2 millions of Chinese from Guangdong migrated to Vietnam after its separation from China.
So those Cantonese speaking Chinese taught Vietnamese a lot of Chinese culture due to great interaction and inter-racial marriages.
Vietnamese didn't have red envelop culture, didn't decorate much for lunar new year. Due to great interaction with Chinese living in Vietnam and in China, slowly Vietnamese start to adopt the red envelop custom. Vietnamese language has at least 40% loan words from Chinese language.
Vietnamese didn't incorporate red colour into their culture. Yellow colour or brownish yellow colour is the main choice in Vietnamese culture. However, Vietnamese have never stopped learning and adopting Chinese culture since its separation 1000 years ago. In the last few years, Vietnamese inside and overseas start to follow Chinese to incorporate a lot of red colour into Vietnamese culture. Aside from China's economic model and politics, Chinese calligraphy, architecture, paper fans, Chinese arts, dances, traditional dresses, musics, movies, dramas, fashions, cuisines, etc. are getting popular and adopted by Vietnamese. In the mean time, Vietnamese also adopt some of Korean and Japanese culture.
So Vietnamese culture is getting closer to Chinese culture everyday. That is the direction that we see now. :)
@@WhatThePho Your videos are very interesting, and I can't wait to learn more about Vietnam and its culture through your videos.
I guess the Cantonese immigrants brought a lot of things to Vietnam.
@@applebee3735 The origin of the Vietnamese people is the god of agriculture(shenlong-Than Nong). What do you know about Than Nong? Did you know Thai Son Mountain in Shandong and the Tung-t'ing Hu in Hunan are two sacred places in Vietnamese legend? Do any of those things suggest that you should study history more carefully? The Vietnamese have never been Chinese, on the contrary, the Chinese used to be 'Viet-Yue'.
