Sonic CD - Good Ending [Original JP Version]

- Опубликовано: 2 окт 2024
- This is the good ending taken from the Japanese version of Sonic CD. You can only see this by winning all 7 special stages or destroying the machine in the "past" version of every level.
Not emulated! Captured from my model 2 Sega CD.
The "You're Too Cool" screen (JP) makes me cry every time I see it.
Beating the game with a good ending left a smile on my face. I felt like I was there, not too long after Sonic left, to see what our actions has brought. We knew we were too cool.
lik if u cri everitim
That somber, feel-good tune prolly has something to do with it.

The Japanese and Europeans were very lucky to get this song! :D

We got the heavy metal version
Wait. Did anyone else just see that? The anime cutscenes in CD were apparently animated by TOEI ANIMATION. No wonder it's so good.
So the animators of *Dragon ball* animated this?
*YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH*
damn straight.
The director was Ryu watabe, voice actor of chop chop master onion from parappa!
Also for the ova
@@justmatt.8010 uhhh no they did not, they aren't credited so ya
Weirdly I prefer this compressed animation, think it fits really well with the pixel artstyle of the actual game more than the remastered cutscenes. The sound quality is really good for the time too.
True. The colors also seem a lot more vibrant in the compressed version.
Seeing this, the darker cels that have released line up more with this Sega CD verison, then the one used in 2011.
Well the sound quality is because of the Sega CD
another guy blinded by nosta'
@@darassylmoniakam😮😊
2:37 You see that name, right? Now we know why this animation is so beautiful
Bad Ending: Eggman used the Time Stone in His Hand to Rebuild his Empire in Little Planet
Good Ending: LOOK AT ALL THE SPARKLING FLOWERS!!!!
Bad Ending Audio: hoohoo heehee funny gnome laugh lol xd
Good Ending Audio: OW THE SPARKLES ARE STABBING MY EARDRUMS
Dang, Metal Sonic looks better in the Mega CD version than the 2011 version(not to say it’s bad; it’s actually very good)
The 2011 version is the PC Version of the original
@@InertBrian also the console and mobile version as well. U should also know that the 1996 windows port was also a pc port of sonic cd
The reason it looks so good is that they went to the trouble of retouching the animation frame by frame to fit the 16-color palette. Unlike many other Sega-CD games, where they simply converted the original footage automatically causing grainy dithered video.
Who knew that MS paint in a Sonic game could be better than MS paint in a Zelda game
It's all in the painter and what they've used to draw this. But yea.
Madden, it's a cel.
They use a dipping pen (or a strong marker) and then use cel paint on the back of each drawing
ACTUALLY
They used animations cells to draw them

God. Looking at these old FMV's just reminds me how the Taxman version spoiled the world with the remastered ones.
They animated it using cels.
TELEPORTATION, YEAH
Shabadowap-wap
I'll consider that next time i hear it.
Hmmm... Now that I think of it....
BikerBoyNJ what WERE you going to say?
I hear Sell them your backpack
Danny Enderdragon holy fuck I'm crying. sell them your backpack
Conclusion:
Sonic Boom! - Best Intro MUSIC for Sonic CD
Cosmic Eternity - Best Ending MUSIC for Sonic CD
I really like chu chu Sonic warrior from Europe/Japan
I feel the opposite sonic boom is better as ending music
It’s a shame that the lyrics weren’t in the re-released version. Would’ve made that port perfect
The lyrics are thankfully intact in Origins.
@@GlitchanBlack unfortunately though, it's out of sync in Origins. It kinda ruins it because it's timed perfectly in the original Mega CD version.
@@GamePlayerZ1912 That has been an issue since Jam
Because of how the cutscenes were done on the Mega CD it's impossible to match up the original cels with the Mega CD audio without using a dynamic framerate
@@PercyPanleo Actually, I have seen a video of a mod that syncs it almost perfectly. It's titled "Sonic Origins Mod - Fix timing and restore SFX for Sonic CD Ending" (can't really post links because RUclips)
16 years later and it’s still good
The best Sega-CD game ever.
In terms of cutscenes
"You're too cool" made my day
Plus that little distant tune it has at the end when the star's are falling from the sky and turning into flowers is perfect
Funny you’re here.
With the Time Stones and the planet restored, Studio Junio 'believed in themselves' and broke free from Toei to animate episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, but seriously that is true. :)
Interesting tell me more how studio Junio did that it makes me think they didn’t get along with tori making these animations
@@retrogamer7543 I was telling it in the form of a joke. But yes, Studio Junio was founded by former "Toei" Animation personnel. This was likely one of their first projects they did before separating entirely and doing other projects like the anime series; Montana Jones and being outsourced for a few Batman: The Animated Series episodes for Warner Bros.
Sonic CD 4ever! ;)
Can’t hear you my CD player is too cool
*sniff* so *sniff* beautiful 0:41
Oh my God the music's right we were born in a special place

Sonic CD is overall easy, but getting this ending is difficult
Sonic CD is easy if you didn't focus about making a good future.
The scene where Sonic is looking up into the sky with the sparkles coming down is always so beautiful no matter what version it is.
WHY CANT ALL SONIC GAMES START OFF IN A CARTOON INTRO like this one :(
Bcs sadly Sega didn't thought of it back then, still it would have been cool but, sonic games would have been released in the Sega cd only, due to technical specs

Now replace the 2011 Version of Cosmic Eternity with the original and the game would be perfect. All that karaoke over copyright issues? BIGGEST BUNCH O' BULLSHIT EVER!
Sigma Skye But at the Same time, it makes sense, how games handles copyright is nothing how RUclips handles it.
Singers = Earn royalties from their vocals being used.
I'm too cool!
fean Frieza: And my brother is cooler. 😎😎😎
@@mahyaramou2446 Oh wow. Sorry to ruin the moment but I am not gay.
We're all too cool.
I have achieved 5 time stones... NOOOOOO
Mushroom that's why I destroyed every generator for insurance, as I failed to get the time stones
To get good ending in the game, you need to get the 7 time stones or destroy all generators in the game
This is a 4 year old comment, I would have beaten the game in that time
I don't know why but it's really cool seeing animated Classic Sonic destroy badniks.
japan version is glorious tbh
Fun fact the original had no clip of R2 but the uncut clip had the R2 clip
You have to agree for a 1993 the cutscenes are pretty good
Thank you for that vid! This Soundtrack is much better than the US Soundtrack.
2:29 ACT 3 FREEZE!
JOJO REFERENCE!
*I feel bad for the man*
Is it normal that I like this version more than the scanned drawings?
Palmtree Panic, Collision Chaos, Quartz Quadrant, Wacky Workbench, Metallic Madness and Stardust Speedway. Metallic Madness actually comes after Stardust Speedway in the game but I guess they wanted to show the race against Metal Sonic last.
YOU'RE TOO COOL
What is the name of this beautiful soundtrack?
Cosmic Eternity
2:07 SONIC WHY DID YOU MAKE THEM HAVE GEX
3:36 that part got cut off by a fade out in the 2011 remake
2020 and this is still my favorite game of all time
my most favorite song in all of Sonic games. corny? yeah. but for once its not rock! YES
Sega cd cutscenes were better even tho the animation was better in GameCube and 2011 port
this music helps me get through life
Eggman looks funny in the beginning of the video when he's defeated
See the bad ending in Sonic CD 920. In that version, which was the North American pre-release, they really make you feel like a failure for not getting all seven Time Stones. Not only are you treated to seeing the Little Planet imprisoned by Dr. Eggman again (because he got away with a Time Stone), but you're also treated to a "failure" tune, and the caption at the bottom reads "Try Again and Free (the) Little Planet Forever".
I like the too Cool screen
Me too. Can all games end with them giving you a complement
This song sounds like a pokemon anime song lol
If sonic cd had a anime made in 199X
Anyone else think the JP fits the Good Ending better and the US fits the Bad Ending better?
pc version doesn't have the build up to the credits and that annoys me to the point I stick with the mega cd version
Just mod it
Teleportation yeah!
Oh-shibbity-boo-yah!
Hadn't heard the Japanese ending song (had the PC version myself), but to be honest I prefer the US ending song - this is a little downbeat without being cool and relaxed. Gotta love the rap though ;) Thanks for posting this, really interesting to see :)
@TenchiUK Congrats on making the good future
Sonic cd is f**king awesome. I play it on sonic origins on switch.
I agree with you, but I prefered the JP/EU music a LOT better than the US stuff!
I had a Mega CD as well, and loved Sonic CD. I was estactic when I found the Gems collection on PS2 but was really disappointed with the soundtrack!
The ones who made the animation did all the work just for sega to turn it into a 8 bit disaster. at least the real animation was used for later releases.
The price you pay for developing a game on the finicky Mega CD hardware. What's funny is these crappy scale-downs were actually considered quite revolutionary given the time period
@@hidden3880 yep. it is just that now days we have the HD version.
Exactly. I see no actual point on arguing with someone else over which one is better. I love them both equally.
As far as the age-old soundtrack differences with Sonic CD goes, I have mixed feelings about both of them. Honestly, I felt that there was music in the North American version that worked better than the Japanese/European soundtrack and vice versa.
@TenchiUK ... You just predicted the future...
TAKE THIS!
Best sonic game ever
This game is the shit! Still holds up so well all these years later!
藥洗唷 藥洗唷 藥洗唷~
Yeah, I've heard both US and JP/EU endings, and the US one is far better and a lot more tolerable. I do wish they kept the sound effects for the US ending though, could've been in the background while the music played.
I really find both soundtrack versions of the ending pretty cool.
I wish Sonic games would use these type of cutscenes again
@Neon2314 that isn't true. this japanese had a urban feel. the american had a rock feel. both go with conic games.
Man! This game was just brilliant!
nice video nice song! ^^ 100% real... fuera usa :P
I remember when I got my good ending when sonic turn around then they hit the hard song beat I was like yoo and at the end they hit with the your too cool and I was like yea I am cool 😎👑💯
Toei animation outdid themselves with this animation
AND Studio Junio.
Thats not cheap dude, its a pretty normal boss battle...compared to easy one from Sonic 4 Ep.2
Still think this is the best classic sonic game. Fight me.
Well, the game have the worts bosses
yep, just like the whole soundtrack. don't get people who like the NA one better, grown up on it I guess
Is there a developer in the game named madin?
It's a bit late to reply, but, I think Majin was the nickname of one of the designers ;)
Metal sonic looks more metal in this version.
how many people would buy a 3DS if Sonic CD came out for it? i really doubt it coming out but anything could happen
Us had a better game over theme? I think your right, but it shows too much of "YOU FAILED AT SAVING LITTLE PLANET. YOURE DOOMED" compared to the previous sonic games
@Neon2314 sure it does.
So this is just the custom version?
This is so old dam
RUclips starts at 2007????!!!
dude i`m an Sonic NEXT-GEN fan Btw CD is the only sonic 2D i really liked the rest where ok but still hmmmmm people are just mad at me only bucause i like All sonic games exept 3D blast
I think if I had not created sega sega cd and 32x, had worked to improve the saturn and would miss this game for the saturn would still think exelentes creating games and hardware environment, but have to admit that today do some titles good, not great, good
Am I the only one who likes the music from the North American release better?
Which is better, US or JP version? I don't care!
The REAL question should be Why didn't SEGA put this ending(either Version) on Sonic Gems Collection instead of that half-ass lazy expansion of the ending animations all sped up?! I feel like we all got hosed on that one!
Wouldn't the JP version have the lyrics in Japanese since that's normally how it works?
JP's soundtrack is also used in Europe
LjstarZero, I know, but I thought it would be like the PSX/Saturn releases of Mega Man X3 where there was a PAL song and a JP song. BTW that version of MMX3 was not released in America (aside from the PC version) until the MMX collection. Also the songs are different between those versions and the JP one is sung in japanese.
My copy of sonic cd got stuck on the white screen.
@TenchiUK
It's funny how this actually ended up happening.
My guess is that Wikipedia got the information wrong. You MUST beat the game with all seven Time Stones to see the good ending.
the best ending is the bad because eggman get owned by a rock!
It is? I should have known! That was kind of stupid for me. XD
@ColeopterX Metal Sonic is cheap because of the insta kill laser. Robotnik better put that laser on another contraption.
Im glad nobody thought of something else in 2:05
Did these credits have a different font?
+AnimatedGalaxy looks like it. a much nicer one than the US version's IMO.
shouldn't really have a sonic name if you don't even like most of the games >.>
evidently yes the only thing I personally like is Sonic BOOM
fun fact toei animation is responsable of the animations for sonic CD this group is also responsable for anime shows

@TenchiUK and ur dream came true a couple years later!
the music buffers if you play a rom in a certain emulator in the cutscenes
