I've had this camera for 3 year and I hate it because the battery get exhausted quickly. I purchased the Nikon rechargeable batteries so hopefully that will last much longer. This video makes me fall in love with this camera again. Wish me luck with the batteries.
i'm upgrading from an old 110. me and this lady at the pawn shop wanted the same camera at the same time. crazy! two 830's next to each other in the case. she got the red one i got the black one. both were 90.00 bucks! i love the tiltable screen and auto focus features or settings too. If it was more like 20mpixals or more for the same price would've been perfect.

just a little tip, dont zoom so much when taking pictures, you are pixelating the pictures, its best to not zoom in to get the most brilliant pictures. Thank you for the review though this camera looks amazing

Yeah i think the microphone works really well. A lot of other reviews state that the mic isnt all that. You should watch my other videos that i have recorded using this camera :) NOT THE DASHCAM videos. Those are recorded with a different device. Mexico is awesome!!!!

graystripe87 you're welcome.. and by now i have worked with my cam for a while and really love it. the only thing i do not like.. - and did not realize that there was this little glitch, is, it does not have a viewfinder.. only the monitor and that can be a nuissance especially if you take shots in daylight.. apart from that.. it is a great cam :)and yes that video might be a cool idea too .. :)
When i first saw this camera, i thought it was a DSLR. Upon inspection of it's specs, i noticed it was just a P&S with a large lens which gives it the impression of being a DSLR.
Well i think its an awesome camera but then again that is my own personal opinion... if she has had other higher end cameras then she might not like it :/ but if shes never had a camera thats overpriced then she will like it... i myself love it because of its simplicity in operating. I hope you get some after that gift lol!!

When playing it back, the audio volume can be adjusted while viewing the video on the camera by using the zoom things. I also think you can set it to mute etc in the settings.

I'm not sure about this camera. But generally when you use an important zoom you have to make sure that the image stabilisation is activated. And to be steady when taking photos

If you have the camera in Easy Auto mode then the camera will decide if you need flash or not... but if you switch to auto Mode(its the last mode) Then youll be able to choose WHEN and what type of flash you want... also when you are in AUto Mode and then press the menu button youll be gven more options that arent offerered in Easy Auto mode... check it out

Phyllis Lowry i have no idea what your exact problem is but.. im assuming that you were using a memory card that is way slow... orrrrrrrrrrrr its a defective memory card. try and take a video with out any sd card... then retrieve it using the usb cable that came with your camera. if that works then you know its not the camera. Try using a different class 10 memory card...

Hey man , great video. Am a bit of a nerd when it comes to cameras and all that. I just got this today and i wanted to record my travels on it. But i cans seem to record more then 47 seconds at a time or svn less like 23 or just 7. Why is that? will this not allow me to record something for as long as i want? Having said all that it does not have a memory car! is that why?? I would really appreciate any help or advise you can give me bro. Thanks man. Daniel

I love mine too! But like a dumb ass, I dropped it. It's dead, acts like the lenses cap is on. I hope-hope-hope-hope that Nikon can fix it. If they can't, I'll buy another one. Why? Because I love the easy menus, the tilt display, and that it uses AA batteries. (I use rechargeable)
Parents bought me this camera for christmas, its currently in route, when they told me the price they got it for (159.99 black friday on amazon) i was worried, and when i saw your first sample video of the bird i was like ehhh it looks better than my iphone i guess, until you zoomed out and the bird was like 150 yards away. Quality looks promising! How are up close photos? With my first dslr cam I had i was big into up close shots that looked stunning, how will this non dslr fair with that sort of shooting?

Negative... no batteries included. You dont have to buy batteries all the time. i bought some 2,500 mAh rechargable batteries... they do me good. i always carry 2 sets of 4.
yeah, I tried, but I´m too pickypick with the composing... Not happy with the several options like "fireworks","pets", "landscapes", I´m better with numbers. Guess I have to get use to the "easy" composition combos
Alexandr Nita honestly i dont know :/ i have used my camera A LOT and not once ran out of batteries... i bought a set two sets of rechargable NiMH 2500 milliamp batteries... and also 1 set of 1500 milliamps... but from what ive seen i guess its safe to say that its good on batteries.

haha if you're into optical zoom then check out the Nikon Coolpix P600. 60x optical zoom, but pretty expensive. Over $300.

Coley and Jumanji Or maybe she is too close to the object she's filming. You have to be on a certain distance from the object if you want to use zoom.

If you are doing videos, i would suggest you to ge for sony cams. The autofocus is not so good for videos.

If you are looking for that MTV video quality no... they use crazy expensive cameras :/ idk if you havent seen my other videos that ive recorded with this camera since i bought it... but if your looing to make a at home music video then hell yeah by all means, give it a shot :)
You should be careful when tossing your sd card. Depending of the shock taken could damage the sd. Thanks for your review!

+Phong HO you might have your focus set on "One Time Focus" you have to change it to Full-Time Auto Focus"
Hey man , great video. Am a bit of a nerd when it comes to cameras and all that. I just got this today and i wanted to record my travels on it. But i cans seem to record more then 47 seconds at a time or svn less like 23 or just 7. Why is that? will this not allow me to record something for as long as i want? Having said all that it does not have a memory car! is that why?? I would really appreciate any help or advise you can give me bro. Thanks man. Daniel

Negative... There is to jack for a external microphone... :/ the microphone isnt bad though... but im sure it isnt as good as a dedicated microphone

It's not good for that as the screen doesn't flip to see yourself. Better Nikon P600, Samsung MV800 or nikon S6600

I love mine too! But like a dumb ass, I dropped it. It's dead, acts like the lenses cap is on. I hope-hope-hope-hope that Nikon can fix it. If they can't, I'll buy another one. Why? Because I love the easy menus, the tilt display, and that it uses AA batteries. (I use rechargeable)
Parents bought me this camera for christmas, its currently in route, when they told me the price they got it for (159.99 black friday on amazon) i was worried, and when i saw your first sample video of the bird i was like ehhh it looks better than my iphone i guess, until you zoomed out and the bird was like 150 yards away. Quality looks promising! How are up close photos? With my first dslr cam I had i was big into up close shots that looked stunning, how will this non dslr fair with that sort of shooting?

Negative... no batteries included. You dont have to buy batteries all the time. i bought some 2,500 mAh rechargable batteries... they do me good. i always carry 2 sets of 4.
Autofocus is very bad, too slow, however good image quality except for night which is also terrible bad

Try it shooting outside and try out rule of thirds and composing your shot. It's not the camera, it's the person behind it who does the wonders. :)
yeah, I tried, but I´m too pickypick with the composing... Not happy with the several options like "fireworks","pets", "landscapes", I´m better with numbers. Guess I have to get use to the "easy" composition combos

Alexandr Nita honestly i dont know :/ i have used my camera A LOT and not once ran out of batteries... i bought a set two sets of rechargable NiMH 2500 milliamp batteries... and also 1 set of 1500 milliamps... but from what ive seen i guess its safe to say that its good on batteries.
