I'm from Florida, and my dad and I flew up to South Carolina to see the total eclipse. I feel like when you travel all that way for such a beautiful cosmic event, it becomes so much more powerful an experience. I felt a little emotional actually when everyone started cheering. From all around the mountains you could hear everyone laughing and crying out in awe, and it really was the sheer sound of everyone coming together, forgetting about any differences, any every day problems, and looking up into space. I'm glad you were able to see it too! It's a shame not everyone could witness totality, I felt it was really perspective-changing.

The eclipse was amazing! It was something I'd been planning since I was six when I learned it would be on my birthday. I believe in lunar power and manifestation so this was such a gift. It was amazing to spend with so many beautiful people; friends, family and foreigners. Wow what a high!

Welcome to TN. Lots of great hiking, etc. You had an great spot to watch the eclipse. It was an awesome event. I watched it with a pin hole camera b/c I didn't have the protective glasses. I got a neat photo of the moon passing between the earth and the sun from the shadows it created on the sidewalk via the light filtering through the leaves on a tree. It shows multiple images of the two objects passing. It was like viewing the eclipse by looking into a kaleidoscope.

If you'd like to see a shot similar to mine Susan Branch (author and artist) posted images of the eclipse made by tree branches that filtered the light. There are several on her blog post titled 'The Light is Changing" dated August 23 2017 at susanbranchdotcom. She also got shots of the eclipse in the shadows in her house. That was so cool. You'll have to scroll down about half way into the post. The whole post is about shadows in general, due to the changing season. She lives on Martha's Vineyard with her husband Joe and her cat Jack.
