4:41 Great video! Though the aggression meter is a very confusing thing to understand when its really as simple as time duration Twisteds has three states, wandering, chase, pursuit. Wandering: Twisteds follow a pathfinding, these pathfinding are not random and goes through a fail or success chance on where the twisteds will wander next. All twisteds have the same wander AI and stop spots with few tweaks such as Twisted Tisha staying longer at a stop spot and Twisted Flutter not stopping Chase: Chase is when a twisted spots you in their line of sight, they will then follow the toon's movement so long as theyre still in chase, its why Twisteds chases you in the same wonky way as you running. Its to prevent the Twisteds AI from getting stuck while chasing you Pursuit: Twisteds will go to this state when you break line of sight, the twisteds will then go through a timer which varies from each Twisteds, pursuit state Twisteds will keep following the toon's path when the timer starts counting, once the timer is over the Twisteds will go back to their wandering state. If the Twisteds spots you during their pursuit state, the timer will reset and go back to their chase state (its why finding an "island" is the best to loss aggro), if the Twisted spots another toon while in their pursuit state after you break line of sight, they will go to their chase state to that toon and reset the timer, this is essentially the same as stealth priority, you, behind an object is more stealthy than the toon, in their line of sight. This is very common in programming AI enemies, its easier to determine how long a Twisted pursuits with a timer rather than a meter (there's also a timer on how long a twisted will recover from attacking a Toon, in this state the Twisted will not aggro on any toon and will remain still. Each twisted has a timer for how long they stay in that state) Knowing this, if you caught aggro on Twisteds accidentally, hide behind anything to make the Twisteds go to their pursuit state which will then make it easier for the distractor to regain aggro. Alternatively getting hit to make the twisteds go to their recover state will also help though very dangerous. The toons with the same stealth as the distractor is best to stay away from forward line of sight as twisteds will shift to the newer toon in their line of sight Main Twisteds has a longer timer and will remain longer in their pursuit state and recover faster after attacking a Twisted.
Wanted to specify real quick in the comments that this video isn't that helpful in terms of distracting as it doesn't talk about twisted vee, good kiting combos, and gives general misinformation at certain parts! (Ribbon Spool + Clown Horn is a bad set, Max twisteds is 6 not 5, Twisted Glisten is kited like twisted pebble and shouldn't be in the fast twisted category, etc) This isn't a great distractor guide, I heavily recommend looking for another video as reference.
This was overall one of the best distracting guides i’ve seen in a while! Just a random fact, it technically *is* possible to kite T. Pebble with 4 star speed, but you need to have a lot of experience with distracting T. Pebble before and know how to conserve really well. Also, when people attempt to distract vee, I see some of them sprint the entire time when slowed, which isn’t needed and just wastes a lot of stamina quickly. As long as you have good internet connection/ trust your instinct well, you only have to sprint when the fastest twisted gets too close for comfort. Great video tho, keep up the great work! ^v^
if you re wondering wht kiting means its a different word for distracting! (Sorry if my text is weird the text isnt showingon my screen so idk what im typing:()
No, ClownHorn/RibbonSpool is not a good set! It gives the same walkspeed boost as DogPlush but wastes two trinket slots! And experienced Distractors won't need the run speed boost, and even then, new Distractors are better off using SpeedyShoes! I'd personally opt for two Distractors, one with DogPlush/ClownHorn, and the other with DogPlush/RibbonSpool, and have them alternate distracting. It's a 21% speed boost on their floors, and depending on the character, they can all get good uses while not distracting. No hate, but I don't want people to assume ClownHorn/RibbonSpool is good when it's pretty subpar.
thank youu !! i was wondering which trinkets set to use, i only have the clownhorn and speedyshoes as speed trinkets and i was thinking exactly about using dogplush, since toodles appears more than rnd for me
Having 2 distracters is not great for the team. The best distracters usually have very bad extraction stats (Like pebble and sprout) meaning the other distracter can’t help much and its better off leaving the machs to extractors with better stats to finish the floor faster.
With my knowledge of the game, I’m pretty sure the aggression meter isn’t a real mechanic. Twisteds operate on an attention span timer that ticks down whenever they don’t have line of sight with you. This restarts if they see you. The reason they prioritize other toons sometimes is because they would prefer to attack somebody that they do have LoS with instead of somebody that they don’t. This overides stealth so it’s a consistent way to get twisteds onto your teammates if you can’t escape them.
W video, great music choice (im a splatoon fan), and ill ve using these tips to play the game as im trying to lvl up my distractor skillz. thanx 4 the vid, keep up the great work!!
I’m a Looey main right now (soon I will get pebble) and I could distract any toon except for pebble and thanks to your video I think I could have a decent chance that I can distract pebble without getting hit
I look forward to your upcoming Sprout guide since he's one of the characters that makes me feel stressed when playing because his playstyle involves a lot of multitasking 😅
Nice video! Here's some more advice/corrections! Firstly, just wanted to quickly say that the max amount of Twisteds is 6, not 5! Also, a common distracting term used that you missed is island. For those of you who don't know, an island is a long row of objects like the one he was using to distract Pebble in the vid. Next, I have an improvement for the Clown Horn and Ribbon Spool set. Instead of just using those two, you can have two distractors. One uses Clown Horn and Dog Plush and the other uses Ribbon Spool and Dog Plush. Then you alternate distracting depending on the floor! (With the other distractor helping to distract if necessary) Lastly, I would like to cover some difficult Twisteds and Twisted combos that you did not cover. Vee: For Vee, be sure to sprint when she gives you Slowness, and try to have a bigger distracting area to cover more distance on her before she gives you Slowness. Don't distract her with any Twisteds with a higher speed than Toodles, and if it's Twisted Astro, I would recommend not taking any fast Twisteds if you are planning to distract him too. I would recommend getting some Bottle o Pops/Box o Chocos or have an Astro, just to be on the safer side. Goob/Scraps: Their ranged ability relies entirely on line of sight. To distract them, you'll need an island. (If you don't know what an island is, look at the top of my comment for help!) An island that's in the middle of a big open space and/or is fairly small is preferable, however not necessary. When Goob or Scraps activate their ranged ability, you want to break line of sight by hiding on the other side of your island. Then you turn the corner to regrab Goob/Scraps, and the cycle repeats! They can definitely be distracted with other Twisteds, but I would not recommend it if you are a new distractor, and I wouldn't recommend distracting them with main characters minus Astro and Shelly. Double Pebble: (Take what I say here with a grain of salt. I have never encountered Double Pebble and am just going off what I have heard.) For Double Pebble, all you need to do is aggro both of the Pebbles on you and take them to an island. Then that's basically it. As long as you don't have them starting on completely opposite sides of the island, they should just be phasing right through each other. Fast Twisteds With Slow Twisteds: Now, this combo isn't actually hard to distract, but it's hard when it comes to keeping their aggro. For this, all you need to do is do a technique called wide turning. (I would say an island is preferable for this as it helps guide you but it is definitely not necessary). The name basically explains what you have to do: Just make wide and slow turns. It's kind of hard to explain how this works, but basically, the fast Twisteds will have more ground they need to cover while the slow Twisteds have less ground to cover. That's all I can think of right now! If you guys have any questions, just leave them in the replies and I'll try my best to answer them!
thank you!!! but also make sure that t pebble dosent switch directions while distracting or you will prob get hit if you dont have enough reaction time
I don't have goob or pebble, but i really like distract some twisted, i don't know why i like distract twisted with my looey, meanwhile im a bad distractor, but this video help me become a good distractor, tysm ❤
just a few things id like to say concerning a twisted's chasing ai, when a twisted is chasing you they are programmed to pathfind to your avatar until they hit you, meaning they *always know where you are in a chase*. this is also why ranged twisteds are impossible to dodge, because their attack uses this same mechanic instead of just attacking at a point you stood at (you can see this when goob/scraps/gigi tries to grab you and you go behind an obstacle, sometimes they will touch you but won't do anything since you're behind an obstacle). when you break line of sight their attention span timer (which varies across twisteds) will decrease unless they see you, the timer runs out and return to wandering mode or they see another player and switch to that player.
i personally still use dog plush and speedy shoes on pebs because it gives me enough walk speed to walk faster than normal twisteds in any floor AND in panic mode.
Correction stacking walk speed is not an overkill but a much more preferred stat compared to run speed on a distracting toon. You also didnt mention about the new dog plush+ horn/ spool strat.
You should still use dogplush+speedy shoes since less walk speed means you will be slower and will need to run more which trust me, is more annoying. I would use both and see for yourself. You wont see lobbies with high floor requirements use the new trinket sets.

Very helpful, but I wish you didn't put the sound effects while you were explaining some of the terms because I couldn't hear/understand what you were saying
Also if your distracting with a friend like the 2 main distractors one person should have dog plush with clown horn and the other person should have dog plush with rnd trinket Making it easy to switch distracting during certain floors and guaranteeing, you’ll be faster than twisted pebbles

Distracting Twisted Pebble alone is easy enough. The problem arises when you are the ONLY distractor in the team and there are more than 1 main twisted spawn. If it is Pebble and Vee you WILL have a problem no matter how fast or how well you do. I would rank these main combos from easiest to hardest: -Astro & Sprout (easiest combo) -Astro & Shelly -Sprout & Shelly -Vee & Sprout -Vee & Astro (Deadly if no support from toon Astro) -Vee & Shelly (Deadliest non-Pebble combo) -Pebble & any other main or even commons (Impossible) Edit: 99% of the random lobbies will have 1 distractor, 6 extractors and maybe a Cosmo, but i say the best lineup would be 1 main distractor(Goob/Flutter), 1 backup distractor(Pebs), 1 generalist(Tisha who can step up as a 3rd distractor otherwise help extract machines), 2 extractors(shellvision) and 3 supports(fruitcake and astro). Floor 50 ez
I was expecting a lot more then the surface level information. Things like how much walk speed would you need to make twisteds 'distractable' or like more intricate details about individually troubling twisteds like how long aggro goes on for is something that comes with playtime but can be taught and told.. those kinds of small details that if you know them could save you later are very important when people are looking for a guide

I will only distract at times when people aren’t rude to me. Not to mention I’m on mobile so it can only last for a while until my fingers burn
Very helpful, but I wish you didn't put the sound effects while you were explaining some of the terms because I couldn't hear/understand what you were saying
I'll be sure to adjust the audio for future videos! Thanks for the feedback!
@ thank you!! :)
dandy gameplay with stardew valley AND splatoon music
Out of the topic, Looey foes some lucky guesses and enteres the room im hiding in😭😭😭

Whenever i distract im either to close to a twisted or they lose interest
congrats got 1K
Hey I didn't know made a video but welp, I'm here!
Can we get a RnD guide???
Also if your distracting with a friend like the 2 main distractors one person should have dog plush with clown horn and the other person should have dog plush with rnd trinket
Making it easy to switch distracting during certain floors and guaranteeing, you’ll be faster than twisted pebbles
Looey: s p e e d
I'm in the thick of it, everybody knows
They know me where it snows, I skied in and they froze
I don't know no nothin' 'bout no ice, I'm just cold
Forty somethin' milli' subs or so, I've been told
[Verse 1: KSI]
I'm in my prime, and this ain't even final form
They knocked me down, but still, my feet, they find the floor
I went from living rooms straight out to sold-out tours
Life's a fight, but trust, I'm ready for the war
[Pre-Chorus: KSI]
Woah-oh-oh
This is how the story goes
Woah-oh-oh
I guess this is how the story goes
[Chorus: KSI]
I'm in the thick of it, everybody knows
They know me where it snows, I skied in and they froze
I don't know no nothin' 'bout no ice, I'm just cold
Forty somethin' milli' subs or so, I've been told
[Verse 2: KSI]
From the screen to the ring, to the pen, to the king
Where's my crown? That's my bling
Always drama when I ring
See, I believe that if I see it in my heart
Smash through the ceiling 'cause I'm reaching for the stars
[Pre-Chorus: KSI]
Woah-oh-oh
This is how the story goes
Woah-oh-oh
I guess this is how the story goes
[Chorus: KSI & Trippie Redd]
I'm in the thick of it, everybody knows
They know me where it snows, I skied in and they froze (Woo)
I don't know no nothin' 'bout no ice, I'm just cold
Forty somethin' milli' subs or so, I've been told
[Verse 3: Trippie Redd, KSI, Trippie Redd & KSI]
Highway to heaven, I'm just cruisin' by my lone'
They cast me out, left me for dead, them people cold
My faith in God, mind in the sun, I'm 'bout to sow (Yeah)
My life is hard, I took the wheel, I cracked the code (Yeah-yeah, woah-oh-oh)
Ain't nobody gon' save you, man, this life will break you (Yeah, woah-oh-oh)
In the thick of it, this is how the story goes
[Chorus: KSI, Trippie Redd, KSI & Trippie Redd]
I'm in the thick of it, everybody knows
They know me where it snows, I skied in and they froze (Woo)
I don't know no nothin'
me too, bro. me too. 💔💔
LETS GO BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
wait I have to ask, how do you make your front in roblox look like that? :0 also nice videooo :> I loved the editing, the use of omori sound effects at the beginning and the stardww music, plus undertale sound effects 👀
no more dog plush and speedy shoes and say hello to rnd's trinket and looey's trinket
The problem is that my phone is soo old, sometimes lag spike happened randomly, I've kept this phone for a decade
Distracting Twisted Pebble alone is easy enough. The problem arises when you are the ONLY distractor in the team and there are more than 1 main twisted spawn. If it is Pebble and Vee you WILL have a problem no matter how fast or how well you do.
I would rank these main combos from easiest to hardest:
-Astro & Sprout (easiest combo)
-Astro & Shelly
-Sprout & Shelly
-Vee & Sprout
-Vee & Astro (Deadly if no support from toon Astro)
-Vee & Shelly (Deadliest non-Pebble combo)
-Pebble & any other main or even commons (Impossible)
Edit: 99% of the random lobbies will have 1 distractor, 6 extractors and maybe a Cosmo, but i say the best lineup would be 1 main distractor(Goob/Flutter), 1 backup distractor(Pebs), 1 generalist(Tisha who can step up as a 3rd distractor otherwise help extract machines), 2 extractors(shellvision) and 3 supports(fruitcake and astro). you know the guide is helpful when the vid has 0 dislikes
Thanks for the feedback! I'll make sure to dive deeper into those specifics in future guides.
0:34 splatoon music heard.
im your 1000th subscriber...heh👅
While me distracting as Rodger with Pink box, and pop box inventory filled with Big pop, medkit, and eject button
