Shelby Bower is an award winning Cake Designer and Sugar Artist, quickly earning the reputation as a connoisseur of her craft for her outside-of-the-box design, techniques and fashion-inspired textures. To Shelby, cake design is a beautiful art form with infinite possibilities.
Born in Houston, Texas, Shelby decorated her first cake in high school, and she hasn’t looked back since. Interning with a small fashion label in Los Angeles where she worked directly with celebrities, it wasn’t long before she became well-versed in the design and creative process. It was around that time when she decided to combine her love of fashion and sculpting with the art of cake decorating.
Throughout her artistic career, Shelby has had the opportunity to attend a multitude workshops led by cake icons. She also attended the University of North Texas for Fashion Design, Animation, and Painting.
For four years, Shelby proudly served as the Lead Cake Designer for a custom wedding cakery, where she specialized in sculpted cakes. In 2016, she decided to launch her very own cake designing business. This year, she won the Grand Dessert Table Championship at LA Cookie Con, which was judged by the world-renowned baker and reality star Duff Goldman.
Most recently, Shelby meticulously crafted a standing Texas cake adorned with a chocolate state seal, as well as a gargantuan wedding cake that mimicked the appearance of stone.
Shelby Bower not only delves in wedding and special event cakes, she also aspires to start mentoring up-and-coming cake decorators across the globe.

No problem!

Thanks ❤️❤️❤️💋
Looking for video like this without wires and all..it’s perfect and looks simple and easy with some practice..Thank you
You could try just stacking the petals and glueing the center. You might have to let half the petals dry completely then stack the other half if that makes sense.
Beutiful 😘
😍
Can I ask when you put the next petals on are there three petals all on top of each other? Thanks for your tutorial your seems to be the easy way of making that for sure so want to give it a go. Thanks again
Beautiful! How do you hang the flowers upside down. Normally you would bend the wire and suspend, but with a bamboo skewer..?
Michel A. Malik i wrap a wire around the skewer then hang it that way
Hi...may i know what type of glue that u use
Hey can i know how much fondant vs gumpaste composition in your mix above?:) and do its breaks easily when its dry??
I usually do Half and half. I mean they all break pretty easily when dry. I don’t think it’s more delicate than other products.
You make it all look easy but I know it takes practice and skill.
Elizabeth Roy thank you! It’s easier than most ways, but definitely can be frustrating if your have never done it before.
How do you hang it upside down to dry if you're using a bamboo skewer?
I wrap a wire around the skewer and make a hook, then hang it on a shelf or door knob of a cabinet.
Can you please tell me, is there any difference between fondant, gumpaste and sugar paste?.or are they same? It's a big doubt for me
Yes! There is a difference, gumpaste has a hardening agent in it so it will dry hard and is used for making flowers, not covering cakes. Fondant is softer and better tasting so it is used for covering cakes. Fondant will never dry hard unless a hardening agent (like tylose powder) is added to it. Now for sugar paste I think it’s other countries term for fondant not I’m not 100% sure.
@@TheSugarScoop thanks a lot dear
Can I use water instead of edible glue?
Sweet Heart yes just be careful not to use too much.
One more question @thesugarscoop, where can I keep the flower after I’ve made it in advance for My cake?
💰💰💰🏆🏆🏆🏆👍👍👍❤
You do not show how you hang the flower to dry, if it was florist wire you twist and hang but how do you hang upside down with small stick? Please explain how to hang and dry the carnation in your you tube? Thanks
I just used floral tape to attach a wire to the stick and hung it on my cabinet handle then I took the wire off when I was done.
