    The FRSO recorded this piece in 2011 in Helsinki. This is the Finnish concert premiere. The world premiere was performed in Paris.

    I am not sure he can write something more intense, more powerful, more guttural than this, but for someone to have written a composition of this sustained intensity is quite amazing.

    I love all of Salonen's compositions, and here especially those "dark" chords in the last two and a half minutes!

    I'll be hearing him perform this piece here in Chicago with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra this coming April. It was fascinating for me to get this preview of the piece. I'm looking forward to hearing what the CSO makes of it with him.
