Seriously compare this version e.g. to Axe´s 2009 live version thats on youtube, too. Lopez´ one is sooooooo awesome!! So full of power, crativity and and and. Great drumming here!
I wish i could have been there , Still life is my favorite album and the only song they played live at Quebec was Serenity Painted Death , was still a awesome , we meet the band members it was just awesome.
@GladiusGSF0 It might seem a lot like that, and Lopez did add a certain atmosphere. Peters solo's will be missed...but the writing is on Mikael's paper, and most everything Opeth has ever done is by Mikael, the drums were a general idea in his head back then, before he had a pro tools set up and a drum machine at his house, he mapped out the songs as close as he could...to where he wanted it to sound. What I'm saying is, Opeth will still sound like Opeth no matter what.
@Megadedly I don't disagree but as a musician, I really liked those two musicians, lol. The feel they had brought an integral sound to their parts. That's all I am angling at. I will miss them playing together. The latin sound and the tastefully underplayed guitar parts.....
Wow, this a great clip! Any idea what year this is? It looks pre-Lamentations, but obviously post Still-Life, so must be between 2000-2003. Judging by the quality of the gear and size of the crowd, this has to be after Blackwater Park, so I'm gonna guess this was right either right before or after they hit the studio to record Deliverance/Damnation.
@jonnysinfin i dunno about that. the blondie guy is much more steady than martin and can play everything he wrote. i miss peter but frederick is a better metal guitar player. and with mikael writing all the songs your not gonna really miss peter that much in the song writing. and i think the addition of Peir(?)(keyboards) and Mikael's soft and growl vocals getting better by the year makes Opeth much better live nowadays. although, who wouldn't still love to have the original line up together.
I might agree, but I also can't help but believe that the whole line-up felt those earlier tracks better than the these days line up does, especially back in those days...By the way this performance is beautiful.
this is one of the best songs on Still Life
On metal history of all time
Great live performance of Godhead's Lament.. Still Life is definitely their best album, possibly one of the best metal albums of all time.
What a performance by Lopez goddamn, also the progression of Mikael’s clean vocals throughout his career is really impressive
This song is so fucking amazing. The whole album and story of Still Life is an artistic masterpiece.
martin lopez is incredible!
I fucking love this live video for years! Thanks for the upload :)
Once again, that snare of his sounds absolutely great. It always does.
Peter and Lopez should start a band...I miss those guys!!!!
Seriously compare this version e.g. to Axe´s 2009 live version thats on youtube, too. Lopez´ one is sooooooo awesome!! So full of power, crativity and and and. Great drumming here!
Many great things about his drumming, but he rushes a lot.
They sound so much better with Marshall cabinets.
MDR
Beautiful Riffs!!!! and yes i miss Martin and Peter too.
I wish i could have been there , Still life is my favorite album and the only song they played live at Quebec was Serenity Painted Death , was still a awesome , we meet the band members it was just awesome.
aweosme upload...love this song, especially the soft part at 4:29
Love playing the intro to this song on guitar!
Mixing in this concert is insane!

Martín López!!!
@xasxasin Thank you for this! Do you have the full show? 🤟
@Megadedly There was a certain magic with those guys and I would just love to see them make music together again.
5:29 Fucking God That Drums
Top Influences: 1.) Martin Lopez 2.) Mike Portnoy 3.) Neil Peart 4.) Thomas Lejon

@Megadedly 100% agreed!
peter ç_ç good video and good audio. But please specify the date of the video! rock tv ;)
mr. lopez fucking kills it in this vid
Staining the soil, midst of stillness!
U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E
UNBELIEVABLE performance by Martin Lopez!!! Fuck axe!!!
Peter didn't suck but i agree on Fredrik being a great addition to Opeth, very very skillful guitarist.
Flabbergasting performance.
@soyhan15 the best era ever 60 and 70 and i think opeth become from that era :)
RIP Mike's Growls :(
Chip Manuel he’s back, I saw him live fucking incredible growling

June 28th, 2003.
@GladiusGSF0 Yeah, they're good musicians, but I think Opeth will continue to bring something great.
You were right ;)
@ProgDrummerQ
You've got good influences, and an awesome Username
@GladiusGSF0 Why? Lopez is in two bands already. And Peter has a job.
this is the OPETH that l like not the crap that they play now, please go back to old times , bring back Martin and Peter!
Fredrik has impeccable talent but I like Peter's style better he's also easier to look at than Fredrik not that that's relevant LOL
@@michaelsnyder1492 That's a bit mean, but...sure
@@jaspergillgannon4991 it was just a joke... and Fredrik's playing on the new album is fantastic
I am probaly mentally ill or something, but i'm hearing voices. Such as a click track buried somewhere in the mix ;)
i miss peter and martin
Martin Lopez

Are they playing too fast?
Lopez fitted a lot better than Axe.
I might agree, but I also can't help but believe that the whole line-up felt those earlier tracks better than the these days line up does, especially back in those days...By the way this performance is beautiful.
+Morten Ballegaard the lopez albums are the best
lmao.
What year is this?
I'd say this is from around 2003-2006
well then Heritage is right up your alley but it's not a metal record. I personally like the diversity.
Ahhh, back when they all had long hair
And Méndez before going bald :(
@LlamaOfDeath its ok dude axe is fucking good
@LlamaOfDeath Talking like he's dead or something...
