Beware of the tuk-tuk drivers. They will ask if you want to go somewhere to make money for their business. The whole world knows about the tuk-tuk drivers of Sri Lanka. If you take a ride with them always always negotiate the price before you get on their tuk-tuk. Some tourists mistake them for a taxi service. They are not a taxi service. At the end of the ride the tourists are overwhelmed by the huge price the driver has charged. That area of Negombo that you are walking may look very similar to parts of Tanzania and the market scenery of England. The Sri Lankans in that area are not fluent in english so you might not get the right answer to your questions. I believe the white vegetable you had is not a cucumber. I believe it's daikon radish. The coconut water and the solid white contents are nutritious to the human body. Enjoy your stay.
The white cucumber is a different variety of cucumbers. The green one contains more Chlorophyll. And the white one has more water that can soothe your body during hot days and it ha a time of vitamins and minerals.

Please visit Nuwara eliya city in central Sri Lanka. It is called little England because of weather and building architecture there. When you go Nuwara Eliya do not forget to go Horton plains , it has many waterfalls (Heightest waterfall Bambarakanda is located there), hikes (2nd, 3rd heightest mountains are situated there), national parks, many wild life including lepords. It is located 2000m+ from the sea level. Weather is colder than Nuwara Eliya. 1-10 celcius. Nuwara eliya has several wellknown botanical gardens, Hakgala is the best one. It is like jurasic park, very antient plants), Bomburu Ella waterfall, Loversleap, Ramboda, St. clairs, Devon, many more waterfalls there.... You can easily go there by train. Nanuoya is the nearest railway station to Nuwara Eliya city.
I am not being in Sri Lanka more than 29 years this year I want to visit before end of this year a lot of places different last time I am staying in 1994 when I was 16 years some places don't recognise soon but some places recognise just like a maristela college also Main Street
