Park yourself there at 7' and watch the Owl rafts flip all day 😆😆😁. I used to be a safety boater and 6-8 on the guage was a flip-fest. Your shoulders would be burning grabbing rafters and hearding them to the safety zodiac. So many great memories.
Whilst I was in an OKS keeners course, they made us swim Coli at 8ft. The moment I started getting pushed hard right while I was swimming left was probably the most terrifying moment of my life. Hey I made it left into the eddy….. barely…..some people didn’t
It has been many years and I have practically quit kayaking by now ... the only memory left about Coliseum is while we were scouting with Seth, a flock of kids charging down the river laughing and screaming from left right center and anywhere in between ... good time!
Thanks! I've only run coliseum in the 1-2' range(assuming its the same gauge for garberator and baby face). If I get up there in higher water I won't be so cavalier.
I ran Coliseum 2 weeks ago at around 3 or 4 on the gauge (we started Main Channel at 1.5, but the level went up during the day). It was my first time on the Main Channel. We ran the line you described but the big diagonal wave pushed me a bit too much and I ended up directly in Big Kahuna. I swam :-(. Pretty bad swim indeed. Next time, I'll have to be more aggressive on this first wave.
Initially when i started editing this I was annoyed I had forgotten to fly a little further downstream but in the end it wound up being kind of a long video so probably for the best, but yea it definitely it hard to see
Is center slot the hole with the large ledge & towback? Or is that more river left? I've only done coli in the summer flow level haha, super cool to see it in another form!
@@ryanhenderson9331 Then ledge is left of centre, big pour over with a strong tow back (varying severity at higher flows). Centre slot is middle/middle right channel at low water has a medium size pour over with a decently big tow back on it sometimes. at higher flows its a bunch of offset crashing waves and boils. thanks for watching !!
what are your thoughts on the new antix? I think i will still prefer the exo party rexy. this was a really good video, not just specifically about this rapid, but also line finding generally, and staying on the line generally aswell.
Thanks for watching! I have a new anti on order so expect more videos about it when i get it. I saw a prototype earlier in the year but didn't get to paddle it. I have a suspicion it will be excellent because it is mostly what I wanted out of a half slice boat but time will tell once I actually get one up here to run her out. The Antix 1 was fine but not my favourite boat, im optimistic about this one. Watch this space I Guess!!
Nice vid you should make one on st Shute at garvins Ottawa river
Yes man good idea!

thanks for watching, hopefully this is useful if you do decide to run it!

It is all about that left stroke! Hopefully this helps you next time. Thanks for watching!!
You have drone footage of center slot? It's a tricky one to effectively see the line from shore.
