Sure the animations are smooth and nice as well as the movement, but smooth gameplay, at least when it comes to player interaction, can bee achieved even in most last gen versions if you turn down the body up sensitivity slider, the on-ball defense slider and the lateral quickness sliders. Notice how there are no bumps here and no stickiness between the defender and the ball handler, it's basically setting all these sliders to 0-10.

Colors still look bad, reflections are gone. I guess at this point 2K is already starting to tone down graphics so that the next gen versions will look better.
They remove some of the reflection so the game can run smoothly. Now if they got rid of all the extra bs in Thecity/MYCAREER. We would have better on court graphic. Remember console are held back by its CPU and GPU. Everytime they add new features each year they cut back on graphic quality
