Then you picked apart each item with your "off the cuff comments" , and you were saying what I was thinking. But your ending was the best. Your comments about the products was on the money. It was Safiya that introduced me to Wish too! She is brilliant isn’t she. I have mostly bought safety eyes and notions, only once bought some cotton, it usually takes awhile to arrive but I have been happy with everything so far.

Be very careful on Ali Express. I ordered yarn as my very first order there ever. It was shipped to me then the tracking said it had been canceled for reasons never explained to me. I then spent a month and a half going back and forth with the seller only to have to open a dispute and a bunch of craziness to get my money back. At least with wish....getting a refund is as easy as asking for one. I say...it wasnt what was advertised and within the day I get a full refund. Much easier.
@@aandjdusik that just happened to me!!!! My first order, they took my money, then all three things were cancelled! I wrote the people to ask why but nobody has responded. It just says reasons unknown on the list where you see your orders. How did you get it straightened out? I don't even have a dispute button for the order.

I actually downloaded the app last week in hopes of buying yarn. I had items in my cart but ultimately decided that a lot of their products just seemed misleading and so I removed everything from my cart and haven’t been to their site since. I love the milk cotton yarn. It is wonderful soft, has no smell, the prize is super. When you order wool at wish, the banderols have no tip for the needle size. Sometimes there is a note in the discription on wish. I ordered a lot of yarn at wish, and I was never disapointed. Greetings from Germany

I've looked over their yarns. I won't order yarn from them. The info paged are wordy but also vague about yards, and weight of yarn, ie...#1,2,3,4,5 bulky etc. Also colors are vague with identified. Not willing to take a chance and end up with crap.

I haven't ordered yarn from wish but I have ordered felting wool. It did come in about 3 weeks time, it was also free just pay shipping, which I find with quite a few items on Wish. The only problem that I have had was with sizing, I had ordered a 2x size jacket which was a bit smaller than I had wanted, so I reordered in a 5x and that was even smaller, but I ended up gifting to my niece and grand daughter. Most of what I do order are things that are either free or I know for sure is cheaper than I can purchase elsewhere. I no longer order any of the beautiful looking clothing LOL. They also have where the more you order the less the price of the item and also you can order along with someone else to lock in a lower price. The longest time I've waited for delivery was about 6 weeks. I have also filled my cart and then emptied it when I seen what shipping would be.

I have that exact ball winder, I bought it through amazon and it works really well. I would recommend it to anyone on a budget, it does the same thing as the more expensive ones for a lot less money 🤗❤️

I had bought the yarn winder over a year ago , I use it very frequently I’m quite happy with so far..... I’ve bought cotton yarn once ,colour didn’t look like what I see on screen (didn’t order anymore since) wish they would put more English information on there packages........but aside from that I have ordered lot of other stuff from them which I’m quite happy with, I find there customer services to be excellent 👌 👌... side note- you need to watch there clothing size, they come up very small.

Ah well, we live and learn.....and a lesson learned the hard way tends to stick around. Mind you, I must admit to liking the rainbow cotton and the purple variegated yarns. As for the hairy stuff......I couldn't stand the feeling of it between my fingers!! Anyway, as a parting shot, I found some lovely variegated yarns on ebay. Worth a look, maybe? I melted all my lipsticks together into one empty makeup jar and apply with a lip brush. I also made a very small one for my purse. Used Mary Kay containers worked well.
Love your videos ! If you have the time and don’t mind do you think you could do an updated and more in depth video of the feather and fan blanket? It would also help me a lot if you could possibly make a video of tips to keep a blanket edge straight and the blanket be straight! I have only bought my tunisian hooks off of Wish. My mother only bought things that are hard to find here in Belgium. You really need to be very much on your toes buying something from there: Reading and comparing the description and what is available. Because the pictures are not that clear or not always "correct". The shipping cost can indeed be quite a lot. But it is waiting for the right promotion...

When ordering yarn like this I would rather order form aliexpress. I have ordered from them for years and it is not as bad as wish. It is very fun to experiment with different yarns to see what I like and don't. On aliexpress you can choose shipping. There is free shipping and is a lot easier to navigate. As time goes by it has become better and better. They are improving which is nice. Also get a scan/take a picture and translate app.That way you get an idea what tags say. I don't order a lot but just to see if there is something to try and I wait for sales. I also look at content, yardage and price to see if it is worth it or not when buying yarn. Example I want to test out wool yarn so I look at that as by base.
Yarns are so expensive in my place, so knitters here usually order yarns and tools online. Yarns from US are seldom sold here, eg Redheart. Yarns in Europe and US are lower in price and in good quality but with high postage. Some even don't provide international shipping.

I buy things from Wish from time to time..ONCE I bought some yarn, or thought I was buying some yarn...turns out it was a SINGLE ball and not a packet..oh well, lesson learned there..most of the time I haven't had any problems getting what I ordered, though my last order was a 'WTF' moment...I ordered a yarn swift cause sometimes I've bought skeins of yarn rather than balls and end up with a mess trying to wind it up so I thought I'd buy a swift cause the things were damn bloody expensive and not available in my local haberdashery stores....what I recieved was something totally different..I THOUGHT I was ordering the swift but what I got was a sort of knitting Nancy thing..mind you, it was pictured with the swift but the add WAS advertising the swift for sale...anyway, my only saving grace that stopped me sending it back was that it was WELL overdue on delivery and because I'd complained out how long it was taking they'd refunded me my money...and least it was something I have a high % of using...
Good luck with the shipping time for Wish. I ordered some material for quilts on 6/2/20 and they say it will not be delivered until September. They have changed the shipping date twice. I just hope I will eventually get my order. I am not impressed with them at this point. If and that if IF I ever order again I will make sure it is from the United States.

Anja, I have ordered quite a few things from “Wish”, but to be honest with you I’ve never bought any of their yarn though. Everything from Wish runs small!!! All of their clothes, ring sizes for your finger, their shoes and now their yarn! I knew when you stated you were going to purchase it, you were going to be disappointed!!! Sorry to hear that your experience with “Wish” didn’t go well! Now other crochet related things are great for their price and even quality! I’ve ordered crochet hooks, darning needles, scissors, markers, measuring tapes, yarn ball winder, buttons, storage bags for my yarn, tags and so much more and they all turned out great 👍🏽!!! So to be honest with you “Wish” isn’t all that bad! I target “Free” items and pay for shipping only but remember that if you see more of the same item that’s free... compare the shipping price first!!!

You can get discount codes . They also do free shipping codes. But be ware I have bought yarn from wish and the size was very small . It wasn't worth it .

Did you not read any descriptions? Wish has them for every listing and they generally say how big the skiens are. I'm not sure what the sizes are overseas, but those are the same as US skiens outside Red Heart which is our cheapy brand. You are right about the Customer Service, Wish has been OUTSTANDING on that end in the year plus I've used them (probably WAY more than I should, several Chinese beauty sellers love me).
The Rainbow ones that you ordered 10 balls of do have the same colours in I,ve had them many times and I,ve had to start a yarn off by matching the last colour on the beginning of the other yarn.
Oh my goodness. I stuck with you until the end of your podcast. I feel so badly for you. Your husband had a very good point. Unfortunately, we knitters and crocheters love yarn and pretty colors. I'm thankful it wasn't me that bought it but I hate it that you or anyone has spent money on the stuff. I'm happy they are going to refund your money on the big order. I'm not a yarn snob but I can say honestly that they should be ashamed to call that stuff yarn and sell it to people. Ophelia I am so glad you were able to get your money back for that mixed up yarn not even looking nothing like what you picked out. I didn't like that the yarn didn't say what hook size or if you could wash & dry it or the yardage.
My experience with WISH was not good and I won't be using them again. Thank you for sharing your experience. My shipping was $23 and I am still waiting for items purchased and what I have received is subquailty product.
I used to use wish occasionally but stopped because of their shipping fees, if you want more than one item and they keep adding shipping fees per item, shipping gets expensive, so the cheap item you want to buy then becomes very expensive for what you get. I always use AliExpress now and mostly it's free shipping or some are only pennies. One thing I've never ordered from these websites though is yarn, as they're tiny amounts. I'd rather buy bigger balls with more yardage. But I love AliExpress for things like, scissors, beads, buttons, ribbons, nail gems, polishes etc, they're so cheap and I've always been happy with the quality and service I've received. I would have been so upset to receive that amount of yarn for the amount of money you paid. I'm glad you got a refund for part of your order though.
if youre in the uk and you desperately want good yarn for cheap, use the woolwarehouse website. found it recently when looking for specific olive colours to make my cousin some tank slippers and the wool there is perfectly fine and much cheaper than ive found anywhere else
I bought a few milk cotton in solid colors as a trial. Soft and maybe a us 3 weight. Worked for the rose I made but I didn't like the amount for the price so I haven't ordered more.
I buy yarn from wish and the yarn is really soft and some good yarn 🧶. I made a baby blanket and it turned out really good and soft. I love wish yarn. I’ve never tried Ice yarn, but I would like to try it someday.
I really love Ice Yarn. The prices are excellent even with shipping, which on first glance seems high, but when you divide total cost with total units of yarn it is a very good deal. It’s definitely worth a try. Doubt you’re disappointed.

I ordered from Wish last summer before I realized how “iffy” it is. I ordered two rolls of ribbon imprinted with the word Handmade to add to crocheted gifts. each roll was less than $2USD and shipping was $1USD each. One roll came in a tiny package one month later and the second roll followed a week later. It is nice ribbon, correct amount and color. exactly what I wanted. I got lucky! especially compared to some of the horror stories I’ve read since. It amazed me that those two palm-sized packages with tiny printed labels made it from China to my house in Arizona. I would wonder if the dye is colorfast on the yarn you ordered🤔did it smell ok?
Most of that price came from the 10 balls of yarn that seemed to be wool. I don’t know if it’s fair to compare the price of wool to acrylic directly. Because for 60 US dollars I could buy about 20 balls of caron simply soft acrylic yarn (each ball at about 170 grams so 3400 total grams of yarn) or 10 balls of wool yarn at 100 grams each 1000 grams. Or 10 balls of sock yarn wool/nylon at 50 grams each or 500 grams total. The most fair comparison of price is if you could compare the fiber content of the yarn to a similar fiber content from the UK to really determine if the yarn was a good deal or not. Wool is simply more expensive than acrylic. I should add, I don’t think wish is a good place to buy yarn from. But I’d like to make sure we are comparing apples to apples here.
Hi DragonZene, you are quite correct in saying that you shouldn't compare the price of wool yarn to that of acrylic yarn, but, you also can't honestly compare the prices of wool yarn when the quality is poor. I am Australian and our knitting wool is beautiful to work with. My thought is that the manufacturers have used wool grown to be used in carpets instead of our good quality merino wool.

Oh, but I felt the pain when you said about your hubby and how much Stylecraft you could have bought instead... that was a real ouch moment, especially for yarn you don’t like. But, like you said, it was an experience-and I for one won’t be buying from WISH based on this!!!
I have to say, good for you for reaching out and getting refunded! I know you said that you didn’t particularly like the feel of the 10 balls, but maybe they would make like a nice rug? As for the little cakes, depending on the feel, they might make a nice scarf or something. To be honest, though, it look to me as though someone used the balls and then sent them to you!
I've gotten so really nice yarns from Wish but it's all pretty much baby weight. If you use a translation app (I use my Google translate) and snap a picture of the label, it can roughly translate the fiber content for you.

I have that exact ball winder, I bought it through amazon and it works really well. I would recommend it to anyone on a budget, it does the same thing as the more expensive ones for a lot less money 🤗❤️
I buy a lot from Wish mostly craft supplies, and they are great. Takes a few weeks to come but quality is always good.
Thank you for doing this. These type of app promise cheep yarn and bargans but dont deliver. I thought about trying wish but not after seeing this. Hope it helped others to try some where else for better yarn. Poundland yarn is unbeatable for value

I had bought the yarn winder over a year ago , I use it very frequently I’m quite happy with so far..... I’ve bought cotton yarn once ,colour didn’t look like what I see on screen (didn’t order anymore since) wish they would put more English information on there packages........but aside from that I have ordered lot of other stuff from them which I’m quite happy with, I find there customer services to be excellent 👌 👌... side note- you need to watch there clothing size, they come up very small.

Ouch!! That stings. I really feel for you, love. But thank you for making the sacrifice so that we didn't have to. Ah well, we live and learn.....and a lesson learned the hard way tends to stick around. Mind you, I must admit to liking the rainbow cotton and the purple variegated yarns. As for the hairy stuff......I couldn't stand the feeling of it between my fingers!! Anyway, as a parting shot, I found some lovely variegated yarns on ebay. Worth a look, maybe? Hi Ophelia, love you little experience video with wish, I've used them quite often until I found NOVA APP it has the wool or yarns with and more without the pain of shipping cost. I bought a metallic yarn it's so gorgeous.. hope this helps you for a future video.

Your blankets are so beautiful, and such pretty colors.
I melted all my lipsticks together into one empty makeup jar and apply with a lip brush. I also made a very small one for my purse. Used Mary Kay containers worked well.
Love your videos ! If you have the time and don’t mind do you think you could do an updated and more in depth video of the feather and fan blanket? It would also help me a lot if you could possibly make a video of tips to keep a blanket edge straight and the blanket be straight! Those would help me so much I love crocheting, I’m practicing a lot to get better!
Thank you for the wish info. This video is my favorite for your 60 000 giveaway. However a close 2nd is how to hid all your ends when making a blanket by sandwiches them in a border. Very clever.
I have only bought my tunisian hooks off of Wish. My mother only bought things that are hard to find here in Belgium.
You really need to be very much on your toes buying something from there: Reading and comparing the description and what is available. Because the pictures are not that clear or not always "correct".
The shipping cost can indeed be quite a lot. But it is waiting for the right promotion...

When ordering yarn like this I would rather order form aliexpress. I have ordered from them for years and it is not as bad as wish. It is very fun to experiment with different yarns to see what I like and don't. On aliexpress you can choose shipping. There is free shipping and is a lot easier to navigate. As time goes by it has become better and better. They are improving which is nice. Also get a scan/take a picture and translate app.That way you get an idea what tags say. I don't order a lot but just to see if there is something to try and I wait for sales.
I also look at content, yardage and price to see if it is worth it or not when buying yarn. Example I want to test out wool yarn so I look at that as by base.

Yarns are so expensive in my place, so knitters here usually order yarns and tools online. Yarns from US are seldom sold here, eg Redheart. Yarns in Europe and US are lower in price and in good quality but with high postage. Some even don't provide international shipping.

I buy things from Wish from time to time..ONCE I bought some yarn, or thought I was buying some yarn...turns out it was a SINGLE ball and not a packet..oh well, lesson learned there..most of the time I haven't had any problems getting what I ordered, though my last order was a 'WTF' moment...I ordered a yarn swift cause sometimes I've bought skeins of yarn rather than balls and end up with a mess trying to wind it up so I thought I'd buy a swift cause the things were damn bloody expensive and not available in my local haberdashery stores....what I recieved was something totally different..I THOUGHT I was ordering the swift but what I got was a sort of knitting Nancy thing..mind you, it was pictured with the swift but the add WAS advertising the swift for sale...anyway, my only saving grace that stopped me sending it back was that it was WELL overdue on delivery and because I'd complained out how long it was taking they'd refunded me my money...and least it was something I have a high % of using...
Good luck with the shipping time for Wish. I ordered some material for quilts on 6/2/20 and they say it will not be delivered until September. They have changed the shipping date twice. I just hope I will eventually get my order. I am not impressed with them at this point. If and that if IF I ever order again I will make sure it is from the United States.

Anja, I have ordered quite a few things from “Wish”, but to be honest with you I’ve never bought any of their yarn though. Everything from Wish runs small!!! All of their clothes, ring sizes for your finger, their shoes and now their yarn! I knew when you stated you were going to purchase it, you were going to be disappointed!!! Sorry to hear that your experience with “Wish” didn’t go well!
Now other crochet related things are great for their price and even quality! I’ve ordered crochet hooks, darning needles, scissors, markers, measuring tapes, yarn ball winder, buttons, storage bags for my yarn, tags and so much more and they all turned out great 👍🏽!!! So to be honest with you “Wish” isn’t all that bad! I target “Free” items and pay for shipping only but remember that if you see more of the same item that’s free... compare the shipping price first!!!

Did you not read any descriptions? Wish has them for every listing and they generally say how big the skiens are. I'm not sure what the sizes are overseas, but those are the same as US skiens outside Red Heart which is our cheapy brand.
You are right about the Customer Service, Wish has been OUTSTANDING on that end in the year plus I've used them (probably WAY more than I should, several Chinese beauty sellers love me).

The Rainbow ones that you ordered 10 balls of do have the same colours in I,ve had them many times and I,ve had to start a yarn off by matching the last colour on the beginning of the other yarn.
Oh my goodness. I stuck with you until the end of your podcast. I feel so badly for you. Your husband had a very good point. Unfortunately, we knitters and crocheters love yarn and pretty colors. I'm thankful it wasn't me that bought it but I hate it that you or anyone has spent money on the stuff.
I'm happy they are going to refund your money on the big order. I'm not a yarn snob but I can say honestly that they should be ashamed to call that stuff yarn and sell it to people.

Ophelia I am so glad you were able to get your money back for that mixed up yarn not even looking nothing like what you picked out. I didn't like that the yarn didn't say what hook size or if you could wash & dry it or the yardage.
My experience with WISH was not good and I won't be using them again. Thank you for sharing your experience. My shipping was $23 and I am still waiting for items purchased and what I have received is subquailty product.
And if you don't receive all of it they will not give a refund!
I used to use wish occasionally but stopped because of their shipping fees, if you want more than one item and they keep adding shipping fees per item, shipping gets expensive, so the cheap item you want to buy then becomes very expensive for what you get.
I always use AliExpress now and mostly it's free shipping or some are only pennies. One thing I've never ordered from these websites though is yarn, as they're tiny amounts. I'd rather buy bigger balls with more yardage. But I love AliExpress for things like, scissors, beads, buttons, ribbons, nail gems, polishes etc, they're so cheap and I've always been happy with the quality and service I've received.
I would have been so upset to receive that amount of yarn for the amount of money you paid. I'm glad you got a refund for part of your order though.
if youre in the uk and you desperately want good yarn for cheap, use the woolwarehouse website. found it recently when looking for specific olive colours to make my cousin some tank slippers and the wool there is perfectly fine and much cheaper than ive found anywhere else
I bought a few milk cotton in solid colors as a trial. Soft and maybe a us 3 weight. Worked for the rose I made but I didn't like the amount for the price so I haven't ordered more.
I buy yarn from wish and the yarn is really soft and some good yarn 🧶. I made a baby blanket and it turned out really good and soft. I love wish yarn. I’ve never tried Ice yarn, but I would like to try it someday.

I really love Ice Yarn. The prices are excellent even with shipping, which on first glance seems high, but when you divide total cost with total units of yarn it is a very good deal. It’s definitely worth a try. Doubt you’re disappointed.

I ordered from Wish last summer before I realized how “iffy” it is. I ordered two rolls of ribbon imprinted with the word Handmade to add to crocheted gifts. each roll was less than $2USD and shipping was $1USD each. One roll came in a tiny package one month later and the second roll followed a week later. It is nice ribbon, correct amount and color. exactly what I wanted. I got lucky! especially compared to some of the horror stories I’ve read since. It amazed me that those two palm-sized packages with tiny printed labels made it from China to my house in Arizona.
I would wonder if the dye is colorfast on the yarn you ordered🤔did it smell ok?
Most of that price came from the 10 balls of yarn that seemed to be wool. I don’t know if it’s fair to compare the price of wool to acrylic directly. Because for 60 US dollars I could buy about 20 balls of caron simply soft acrylic yarn (each ball at about 170 grams so 3400 total grams of yarn) or 10 balls of wool yarn at 100 grams each 1000 grams. Or 10 balls of sock yarn wool/nylon at 50 grams each or 500 grams total. The most fair comparison of price is if you could compare the fiber content of the yarn to a similar fiber content from the UK to really determine if the yarn was a good deal or not. Wool is simply more expensive than acrylic.
I should add, I don’t think wish is a good place to buy yarn from. But I’d like to make sure we are comparing apples to apples here.
Hi DragonZene, you are quite correct in saying that you shouldn't compare the price of wool yarn to that of acrylic yarn, but, you also can't honestly compare the prices of wool yarn when the quality is poor. I am Australian and our knitting wool is beautiful to work with. My thought is that the manufacturers have used wool grown to be used in carpets instead of our good quality merino wool.

Oh, but I felt the pain when you said about your hubby and how much Stylecraft you could have bought instead... that was a real ouch moment, especially for yarn you don’t like. But, like you said, it was an experience-and I for one won’t be buying from WISH based on this!!!

To be honest, though, it look to me as though someone used the balls and then sent them to you!
I've gotten so really nice yarns from Wish but it's all pretty much baby weight. If you use a translation app (I use my Google translate) and snap a picture of the label, it can roughly translate the fiber content for you.
