Bentley and Ahrya didn't worry about any diving equipment because the videogamey physics allowed them to hold their breath underwater for a long time. As Bentley ave Ahrya swam underwater however, they spent so much time exploring that they forgot they couldn't breath. So now that they're running out of air, they are now fighting their way to the surface. Upon surfacing Bentley and Ahrya decided not to do anymore underwater adventures because drowning is not fun.

Or did you just stay underwater for so long that you forgot to come up for air that makes more sense to me.
