I am currently restoring a 70’ Boss 429. I found it in Texas and the sheet metal is in pristine shape. Unfortunately the engine is seized. It’s a 4 speed. So I’m taking her apart and putting it back on the road. The engine is going to be ok. I’ve torn it down and it’s not hurt to bad. Yay. So it’ll be up and going again. I just love this body style and it’ll be a pleasure to drive. Thanks for featuring the Boss 429 in this video. 👍
@@jamesford2942 Oh wow thanks for that information I didn't know what it was cause the content provider wouldn't tell us I appreciate you thanks again.
When I was a kid in the early seventies we had a neighbor that bought a new Chrysler 300 Hurst. I had no idea how rare that car was. He used it as a daily driver for years, washed it on Saturday morning & kept it in the garage when he wasn't driving it!!! 👍👍🙂
I was watching Mecum @ Glendale this week (taped). There was a 70 300 Hurst identical to the one showed here. The car was owned by Nascar Great Herschel McGriff since new. Herschel was there at 92 years old and sold it at No Reserve. It was flawless and brought $40K.
I owned three Javelins (1968, 1970 and 1971), and a 1968 twoseat AMX. The AMX was an awesome little car. By far the most fun to drive of all the cars I ever owned.
Boss 429. What a legendary car. I think the lines and proportions of the 1969 and 1970 Mustangs were pretty much perfect. I used to car pool with a few guys to university. On his days to drive, one of my buddies took his mom’s 1969 White Mustang with a blue interior and a 302. I always admired that car.
I have a 1-of-1 1968 Mercury Cougar GT/428CJ Ram air. Only 126 68 cougars had a 428cj. Of them, 14 were Cardinal red. Of those, only 2 had white interior. Of those, only one was ram air/GT. I also have a 68 Mercury Marauder X100. You should do a story on these 2 models, as they are pretty neat and seriously under the radar.
Many Cougar XR7 428CJ RAM AIR 1968 & a half convertibles were built. I know of one. It belonged to my stepfather's sister who bought brand new in 1968. She has since passed away & left the car to her mechanic.
I had a 1971 Hurst Gr Prix in 1975. Beest story is when the local cops got a new Chevy cruiser one of them pulled up next to me on a new 4 lane rd and wanted to race me. He lost but we laughed about!
When I was 16 in 1982 a drunk driver totaled out my '76 Monte Carlo but a guy that worked for my dad had a 1 owner '64 Marauder with the 390 auto & I snagged it up for $300! My best friend in hi skool had a '72 lime green Demon that was one bad ass little ride! A friend of mine got a new '87 GNX just so he could outrun my GTA Trans Am...and everyone else! Good times back then ✌💖☮
No mention of the car in the thumbnail? which looks like a heavily modified 1963 Thunderbird. but I guess we'll never know because it wasn't featured in the video. and a car that failed to make the list which was a real surprise. because Chrysler's land yaught did make the list. is the W-30 Hurst Oldsmobile 4 4 2. it was extremely fast and was rather rare.
Very nice list. I own a '71 AMC Javelin SST myself that is undergoing restoration. I'm pretty much finished but she needs the battery mount replaced and the electrical is being a pain, making my turn signals just not work. Unfortunately, she got caught in a brutal hail storm and has dents and dings all over the bodywork now. Looking for a bodyshop to clean it up and repaint it. but after everything else that's needed replacing, It's in the home stretch now
I really enjoyed this presentation of the rarest muscle cars I owned just one of them in youth the 1972 Dodge Demon which had the slant six motor and it had was red with blacked out bumpers and Demon on dash. Great car, wish i still had it.
They were not factory at all.... Theyw ere made aftermarket as a custom model. There was also a Cadillac version of the El Camino ... That was very rare... And not factory but custom made aftermarket.
I agree. Ford came out with many cool cars. I had a 69 Cougar. It had a 390 with cobrajet heads. It was a weekend drag car. What a fun ride. My neighbor had a 68 Charger with a Hemi. We were Pittsburgh mill workers. Great memories.
Pretty good list, even if the car in the thumbnail was never even mentioned. I remember the 4 door Corvette featured in Car and Driver magazine. The FBI took delivery of a few hundred GN & GNX Regals back in the day. I wonder what kind of persuits they were involved in? One mistake, the 69 Mustang BOSS 429. The engine was developed to complete compete in the NASCAR Winston Cup, the series wouldn't be called the Sprint Cup until the 2000s, but it's not even called that anymore.
I think you overlooked one amazing car! The 1967 Pontiac Tempest! A friend of mine had one and if I remember correctly it had a 327 in it with a 4 speed on the floor. Had a chance to drive it and I can assure you that car was a beast. Good looking too, especially with burgundy paint.
Thank you again. Interesting list. The homework was done on the list. How many Mercury Marauders were made of the last one from the 2000's? That one is rare too. I assume the Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport was not rare. There was also the Oldsmobile Calais Quad 442 as well. This was a good video. The recent videos have been quite interesting and the efforts are appreciated.
My father had a customer who owned a Torino GT with a 428. When my father rebuilt the engine , the customer told my father he wanted ME to test drive it because he was too old😂. He wanted me to test it because I was young and stupid enough to drive it like I stole it. I was in my early 20s. And I did just that. I was somewhat surprised to find that those old cars could speed up better than they could slow down. 😮. Gave me a good scare. Brakes have come a long way since then.
My 1996 Buick Roadmaster sedan is the same car as the Impala SS under the skin. There are a few Impala SS running around here. I know of a black one and a blue one. Same color blue as my Roadmaster. Medium Adriatic Blue. Strange color, but it's okay

Not much of a "rare" list to me, I mean some you really don't see because of how few were made but I feel like the Impala SS was a pretty well know car. Should have put the ones you had pictured at the end of the video like the Corvette wagon and the Mercedes with the full wing doors
