Ep19 CLASSIC FORD XE FALCON BACK ON THE ROAD AFTER YEARS OF BEING PARKED
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 сен 2024
- IN THE FIRST EPISODE THAT THE XE WAS IN WE RESCUED IT FROM BEING ABANDONED ON A FARM IN A ROW OF OTHER CARS, WE GOT IT RUNNING AND DRIVING BUT THERE IS LITTLE ISSUES WITH CARS THAT HAVE SAT PARKED FOR SO LONG . IN THIS EPISODE WE SORT OUT SOME LITTLE STUFF AND ENCOUNTER SO BIG STUFF ALONG THE WAY. SHE'S NOW REGISTERED AND BACK ON THE ROAD AFTER WAY TOO MANY YEARS.
SO WHAT IS BACKSHED ALL ABOUT ?
WE ARE ALL ABOUT SAVING OLD CLASSIC CARS AND MODIFIYING SOME ALONG THE WAY TOO.
WE LOVE THE CLASSIC RESCUE , FIRST WASH ,FIRST START IN YEARS TYPE OF THING, GETTING OLD JUNK RUNNING AND DRIVING THEN PUT BACK ON THE ROAD AFTER YEARS OF BEING LEFT TO ROT IS WHAT WE DO.
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR INTO FORD , HOLDEN , CHEVY , BIG BLOCK SMALL BLOCK OR ANYTHING IN BETWEEN WE MIGHT HAVE A VIDEO FOR YOU TO WATCH. IVE HAVE AND HAVE HAD A LOT OF CARS INCLUDING XB COUPE , XY FACLON GT , EH HOLDEN , F100 , VB COMMODORE , HQ SEDAN AND WAGON , CORTINA , VALIANT AND SO MANY MORE SO THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. IN ON OF OUR VIDEOS I PRETTY MUCH WENT TO HEAVEN FINDING A WRECKING YARD / JUNKARD WHERE THERE WAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD DREAM OF INCLUDING A MONARO , CHARGER , VALIANT PACER , A FALCON COUPE , TORANA , CADILLAC , SOME CHEVY'S EVEN SOME JDM CARS LIKE DATSUN , NISSAN SKYLINE , MITSUBISHI SCORPION BUT IT DIDN'T STOP THERE EVEN 4X4 LIKE A HJ 45 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER AND A 60 SERIES WAGON . I REALLY HAVE NO BIAS I LOVE RESCUING THEM ALL SO DO STICK AROUND AS YOUR BOUND TO SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE. CHEERS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WATCH . MICK
Please don’t forget to visit Backshed.net.au for merchandise.
No bullshit, - got two shirts for Christmas. Great quality. Get in there!
@@coalfacechris1336 cheers mate and please don’t forget if ya talking cars with ya mates there is a QR code on the bottom of the shirts to get them on board mate ! Cheers 🍺👍
Love how you do everything in one video rather than a 10 part series like some of the other youtubers👌
Thanks mate yeah I do try to give a end result.
🍺👍
Yes especially when a lot of RUclipsrs often take months (& sometimes even 1 - 2 years) between uploading the next instalment of a build / restoration. I've even seen some that seem to abandon their viewers half way through a build series altogether.
This is why I have favoured Mick's videos over now.
A 3/8" Center Punch, heated up (Very HOT) by Propane Torch will also melt perfectly circular seat bolt holes in Carpet. (If you don't have a Soldering Iron available.). Always good to have options!
🍺🍺🍺
Love it. I've learnt so much from watching your videos. I have a couple of old Fords....a P6 LTD and an XF Ghia. I'm not mechanically minded by try to do as much as I can myself. Not just to save money, but it is satisfying when you resolve something yourself.
Yep sometimes looking at what you achieved and just learnt is just the bonus after you’ve saved a $ or two.
🍺👍cheers andrew
Great videos, Mick! Excellent to see this one develop. I have learned a lot about carbs from your explanations. To remove tint, I use a clothes steam wand to get it all off cleanly - but that's modern stuff, not sure about 80s tint..
🍺🍺👍
Another good show at getting these survivors out and about. Like the self locating air cleaner around the 13.40 mark. (Ha). Your diagnostic skills are good. Keep 'em coming.
Cheers mate and yep there’s heaps coming Ross
🍺👍
As we like your videos old cars never dies.
Cheers mate 🍺
Great job on the falcon and love the bloopers
Hahha cheers Ross

Awesome mate. Can't wait for the video of mucas 9 inch.

Hey just found you and been binge watching from the first episode. The old hot air paint stripper gun will help with the old window tint, any residual gum will come off with Eucalyptus Oil. on that point, any stickers/ pinstripe stickers will come off easy as, if you apply a couple of drops to the top edges and give it a minute or so to penetrate.
Cheers mate🍺🍺👍
Nice work, cant wait for the Cortina.
Cheers Craig for watching mate
🍺👍
If you take a socket the size of the top of the valve spring and give it a good smack with a hammer the keepers will pop out but I do have to say your homemade tool did the trick.
Haha
I’ve seen a guy do that , and they popped out and went straight down the oil return holes into the sump hahaha 🤣🍺👍
This is great. Love the dry sense of humour . Wish I still had my XA 302 from back in the 80's (favourite Falcon). I drove XD's E's and F's and EL's as Police cars too as well as HQ to Z and a bunch of various Commodore models (NZ now retired).
Cheers for watching Graeme
🍺👍
The best thing for cleaning the sticky crap off the windows is actually eucalyptus oil.
Another awesome episode great work mate!!
Very informative and thorough for any viewer who is new to this!!
Loving the old cars revived!
I remember them brand new so to see them still alive is great!!

Cheers Simon and thanks for coming back again
🍺👍
G'day Mick, I'm so glad that I stumbled across this video.
I'm about to start restoring my wife's 85 XF Fairmont Ghia that has been in storage for many years.
There is a little rust work here and there to be done before I start on the mechanical side of things.
On the whole it's in pretty good condition but it will take some time to bring it back to its former glory.
It's only done 178,000km so the motor should be ok. It needs the valve stem seals done and a set of welsh plugs that I know of but I'm sure there will be other things that pop up, that's why I'm going to remove the motor to work on it.
How I wish I had a shed like yours to work in!
Anyway, great video and I will now be watch more of them.
Cheers Pat thanks for watching mate

Well cheers mate for taking the time to message mate I do appreciate it🍺🍺👍
Ha Mick! You remind me of early days on Vice Grip Garage. Informative, funny and you show your mistakes. The best bit though is it's all Aussie. Those XE's were solid runners.. Well except mine had a tendency to lose the rear brakes😝
Cheers mate I appreciate ya saying.
🍺🍺👍
Sensational episode man, perfect process of elimination with the carb. Really kept me entertained, as this is the era of car I've been working on for years and years. Soldering iron on the carpet tip... Why didn't I think about that haha... Screwdrivers down the centre usually. But that would be perfect

Good stuff, had an AMC eagle I did upper ball joints, unfortunately. These had rivets a serious torch was needed. Got through it. When putting air to carb after spraying with carb spray, wear glasses, that shit burns. How often do you guys have take a car thru rego. I suspect that's the sane as our safety inspections. I have 2 vehicles I am putting antique plates on them, 74 satellite and my daily 92 dodge d150. In doing this I won't have to go through inspections again. But I will have limited driving. Love watching your stuff, I did pass your show along to some of my motor head friends. I have experienced a spring taking of, it suckks.

A few you will recognize coming up soon , 1975 TC Cortina and a Holden commodore that I think you guys had as an Opel
@@backshed5295 No problem, happens all the time.
Europe had them branded as Opel, in the UK they are branded as Vauxhall.
We only had three cars branded as Opel in the UK Opel kadett Opel monza and the Opel manta, that was in the 70's and 80's.
I remember the Cortina, saw loads when I was kid, I think everyone in my family had owned one at some point.
The Holden vxr8 is a fave of mine and one of the few modern cars I like.
