  • Baan Tong Luang is a village in Chiang Mai, in the northern part of Thailand.
We visited this village during our month long backpacking trip to Thailand in 2020.
It is best to hire a driver/taxi for the day. Of course, you need to do abit of baurgaining as usual.
The village costs 500THB to enter.
Karen people originally came from Tibet before moving into China and entered Burma around Salween River.
A visit to a Karen tribal village as a tourist isn’t without its own ethical questions. It did make us wonder if these villagers felt like a human zoo & we were not the only one who felt that way.
*The latest new about this village that I have read on trip advisor is that , it is now closed due to the cover pandemic.
But i am sure there are other village you can find online.
