@@ShinGoji1987Official Ironic considering how low quality Gamera Super Monster was. Plus Godzilla was hibernating at the time so it's a weird jab

@@ShinGoji1987Official It's not a jab. It was Noriaki Yuasa noting there hadn't been any Godzilla movies in a while. It was him saying "Where's Godzilla?" You see, unlike Toho with Gamera, Yuasa never saw Godzilla as his competition; he saw Godzilla as his teacher.
Yuasa did the best he could with "Super Monster." Tokuma Publishing, who had bought Daiei, forced the movie to be made, then did not give Yuasa the appropriate amount of money to make a Gamera movie, telling him to use all the old footage. It didn't help any that they did shoot new scenes with a new Gamera suit, but the footage was screwed up by the Vistavision processing and could not be used in the film or reshot.
Godzilla was not "hibernating" in 1980. Tomoyuki Tanaka had been trying to get a Godzilla movie off the ground since 1976! It took until 1983 and the very successful "Godzilla 1983: Resurrection Festival" film festival for the Toho brass to see Godzilla was still popular and let Tanaka make the next movie.
