It's so nice to see someone just talking through their thought process without using so much technological dependent language that you need either an interpretor or a shop manual to keep up. That engine looks brand new! Great job, keep up the wonderful videos.
You seem to be down, tired? Getting towards the end of a project I seem to struggle…..it’s like work rather than an interesting adventure. You know? Doing great Mr. Hillbilly 😂! The extent of the damage you have taken on is beyond what sane humans would conceive. Only true gearheads would think of doing either of these refreshments, your commitment is notable and undeniable. And seeing you work on something that isn’t dripping toxic compounds and contaminating everything that is touched is amazing. I have to recognize the improvement in cleanliness tonight. Kudos!
Theae are genuinely the highest quality videos of these types of heavy equipment rebuilt videos on RUclips. There is "professional" RUclipsrs with way more resources & equipment Matt who's contents doesn't come close to the camera work quality of Matts videos. Also the detail he goes into far exceeds that of any other videos I seen. Great work & content Matt, the standard of your work is top notch.
I agree, he has great commentary, great editing, great content, non nonsense and a great sense of humour. I reckon the subs will come eventually. Especially for this type of video.
The spiders just wanted to let you know how long it had been since you'd used those items, LOL. Great work on the engine run mount, it looked rock-solid!
I love to watch your little fixes along the way, like the hose clamp on the slide hammer end to grip the screw. It's the kind of stuff we do during our projects almost without a thought, but it always tickles me to see other people's ingenuity at work! Your calm approach to the good and the bad alike is a welcome change from some of the frenetic channels. Keep up the great work!
21:46 Those gates clamps are awesome. They work phenomenal. As for the prime pump, swap that to the Mercedes version, direct replacement and eliminates a known failure point.
Very nice job on the engine! You've tackled a hell of a project and are doing a really good job bringing it back to a useable piece of equipment. The first bucket in the ground is going to be very rewarding.
Handy tip for the copper washers, tighten to where you think is right, then just tap the bolt with a hammer, it will seat the washer, then tighten again
I know the internet is filled with keyboard geniuses and sorting it out without going insane yourself is the hardest parts of sorting out good information. Some people mean well and others are just down right mean. Charlie is a handsome animal and having my own pet great company. Coming along great, this new clamping system is growing a lot with use of shrinking a fitting tight. I never thought about just tapping on those fuel washers for the banjo fittings would help seal things but makes sense. I am with you all the way on this..... and someone out there sponsor this man with a decent forklift!!!!
A normal forklift isn't going to work on the dirt ground he has outside his workshop. He needs a workshop jib crane to save his back and make work easier.
Very true, I always think of forklifts in the “chunkier” variety (think pre telehander) as that is what we have on our farm brings its own set of problems with clearance in smaller buildings though 😬. Warehouse style ones are rubbish on anything other than smooth concrete I suppose. Def needs something to save the strain.😁👋
From one Oregonian to another, although I am transplanted here in Florida, your work is top-notch. Slow and Steady percise work is much better than hurried and unsure work!! Can not wait to see the first bucket full it takes!! All you are missing is a rebuild of a dump truck. Maybe a small Haul Truck. Maybe a J.C.B!!
Thank you, enjoying the series on the engine rebuild. Slow is far better than being in a hurry and having to rework the rebuild, like your approach to the rebuild and you best be careful, Charlie is going to steel the show on you, pretty good looking puppy.😊
Now I'm going to have to check every set of goggles, face shield, whatever for Spiders after watching this!🕷🕷🕷🕸🕸🕸 Looking forward to hearing this run Matt!
Just finished binge watching the D4 series and now the Hitachi excavator (took a while!). Great content and I can’t wait for more. Thanks Matt and Charlie!
This engine series has been seriously entertaining to watch. Mr. Hillbilly is definitely a mechanic I'd teust working on an c aircraft engine if he was an AP certified mechanic. As Veteran Coast Guard Aviation Machinist Mate on Pratt and Whitney R1820 radial engines and GE T58 turboshaft jet engines I think I'm qualified to say that.
It is such a treat to watch these videos, Matt. I really enjoy the way you go about your process, the things I learn from you are very handy, with the added benefit of making me look smart to my friends! (Which I need all the help with I can get! 😂)
It's like Christmas at my house when a new video comes out! the longer I have to wait the better I know it's going to be. The net, RUclips, is just great. People from all over the world watching you work and offering helpful suggestions. Amazing. Thanks man.
Matt, can’t wait for the next one,it’s almost like waiting for the birth of a baby, your commentary is like a story telling which is great,👌👌👌👌thanks from Perth 🇦🇺
Nice-- shiny stuff left and right...our fearless mechanic ontinues his assembling.... The parts , pieces and stuff...OH MY... ITS A SURE THING..EH..? Carry on
I like your channel. I watch about 7 or 8 different ones such as farmcraft 101, watch wes work, diesel creek, cutting edge engineering, just a few acres, australian arms and armory, salvage workshop and Matt's off road.
Nice work, it's amazing that you can film/ edit while doing an excellent rebuild like this. Thanks for taking the extra time to keep us posted. I always look forward to the next video.
Many videos I watch at double time - but these - real time! Interesting and though I will never do a restore like this there are the little gems - tips and hints that might work anywhere.
The best for sealing easily hot aluminium parts is to use copper o-ring. It's thin walled copper with fibers inside the hollow (you can't see fibers unless you cut it). It flattens easily according to both surface when crushed by a bolt. In Europe it's easy too find under norm DIN 7603-C. The C is a must, it stand for the shape or you will get standard copper washers. Greetings from Belgium.
Heh Matt. Unless you still have a frost risk, there's really no point in using 'coolant' on the test stand - just use water - cheaper and easier to clean up the inevitable spills.
For the future, try and take as many pictures before dismantling in order to remind yourself when the time comes to reassemble. All the very best from Scotland.
Gosh! The engine , assembly is coming along very nicely!Take your time, slowly assemble....do it once.Looking forward for two weeks , to hear this engine rumble!!!Thank you Matt for making this video and all the time! Very 😎 cool!
There are many sizes of Vee belts. Not just the width of the back but also the angle of the sides and the overall depth. Alig ing the sheaves is important but check the alignment of the various shafts for parallel. Probably won't be a big deal on this but something to keep in mind.
Thank you for another great video, well worth the wait. It must be weird having people excitedly waiting for your videos to drop. It amazes me what you've achieved, looks great, can't wait to hear it run. Good luck!
nice to have the video to go back to , we all have THOSE moments ...was it this or that ? I have enjoyed your rebuilds . The talk is reassuring of ...what if , I will be looking forward to the next leg of this rebuild journey .
Great job, great series follow on to your dozer rebuild. You remind me of the rebuilds I used to do with my brother in law, though you are much more careful and have better results.
Thank you for the great video's, you are really helping me with my own fixes on my EX100-3. I will be pulling the main pump off the engine and will be replacing the seal on the engine, just great all the info you have given it will make my job much easier, thanks and hope to see that engine purring soon.
Hello Matt, your lookin a wee tad pissed off on this video mate. "WELL DONT BE". You're doing just great. I am really enjoying the series and the excellent effort that is going into the rebuild. Many would shy away from such a task.
Well, it was supposed to be the last engine rebuild episode but it looks like there's going to be another one and that's great for us subs. I've really enjoyed watching that engine going from something most people would scrap to a masterfully rebuild engine that'll be a workhorse for a long time.
Great content....been following all your builds....could probably weld spacers between the stand and the casters, permanently raising the engine stand frame to fit over your hoist...
What a transformation from tired to new. You should be trouble free once fired up. That's proof that a man who's willing to work a full time job and work after work can do anything. You are like me until I got older and can't pull bubbles now. But I still do what I can until I can't 😂😂. I enjoy watching the progress on everything you do.
"Best laid lands of Mice and Men" never fails when you order parts to have some of them be wrong and very aggravating but you are fortunate as you have a reserve of parts from other builds to draw from. I look forward to your builds and the completion of them when they are installed and running, Keep up the work it makes great entertainment.
It's so nice to see someone just talking through their thought process without using so much technological dependent language that you need either an interpretor or a shop manual to keep up. That engine looks brand new! Great job, keep up the wonderful videos.
Man I look forward to all of these videos! Thanks for bringing us along the journey

Thx Matt for taking the time to video the build and Charlie.

one of my more favorite channels, i look forward to each one
How can you only have 61.4 thousand subscribers….? Your videos are 🔥..😂
I agree, he has great commentary, great editing, great content, non nonsense and a great sense of humour. I reckon the subs will come eventually. Especially for this type of video.
Algorithm wants constant small videos. It doesn’t like 1 hour videos once a month.
agreed!
"We're just going to get the drill to widen this hole", so much humor in amongst the excellent engineering, you are truly a marvel
Learned something new about the hose clamps, never knew those existed. The spider would freak me out to. Very good video. Keep them coming
The spiders just wanted to let you know how long it had been since you'd used those items, LOL.
Great work on the engine run mount, it looked rock-solid!

Hell yeah, looking forward to another 45 minutes in your shop.

YES!
that helps
26:02 Glad to help. Its great to see that the oil will not be dripping out😂
Hi Miles, would love to speak to a fellow South African who knows about this. Can we get in contact?

Maybe a forklift could be his next project 🙂
@@buttonmonkey6845 YES!! 😃

Now I'm going to have to check every set of goggles, face shield, whatever for Spiders after watching this!🕷🕷🕷🕸🕸🕸 Looking forward to hearing this run Matt!
Great job Matt, and I'm looking forward to the "first start" ! Charlie is looking fit as ever!!
New fear unlocked, spider in welding mask! Gonna have to check mine every time I use it now!
Nice milestone Matt. Keep up the good work. I'm always up for a PNH repair/rebuild video.
I don't know what it is about you, but I find it fascinating to watch you work and explain things. It's most probably your humble demeanor.
Just finished binge watching the D4 series and now the Hitachi excavator (took a while!). Great content and I can’t wait for more. Thanks Matt and Charlie!
Nice progress! Be awesome to hear it run! No rushing at this point.
Woop Woop!!! This thing will be slinging dirt in no time.
This engine series has been seriously entertaining to watch.

Spiderman episode.
Thanks for the detailed descriptions of what your processes are.
You, the zack life and Andrew camarata give me hours of entertainment. Such awesome videos. I was looking forward to this one!
What about Superfast Matt? Similar dry humor and mechanical sarcasm.
Feed the algorithm……..good stuff!
I thank you for filming these videos for us to learn more about the process of putting together the projects together
That's one sleepy puppy at @43:05!! Good luck with the fireup!
cant wait to hear it run, love the dedication
As an aussie, that’s close to how I would say South Africa. Not bad for an American. Love your humour.
Congrats Matt!

"Don't quote me on any of this." My favourite channel. Thank you.
Good work Matt. Looking forward for your next video

I really enjoy your videos, and how you figure things out, it is very entertaining. I also love seeing Charlie.
Many videos I watch at double time - but these - real time! Interesting and though I will never do a restore like this there are the little gems - tips and hints that might work anywhere.
I love when you make comments like, "Are the breaks on?" I keep expecting them to be famous last words.

These are always worth the wait
I would watch wiring... but the internet may be a difficult audience for wiring. haha. Strong work!
Gosh! The engine , assembly is coming along very nicely!Take your time, slowly assemble....do it once.Looking forward for two weeks , to hear this engine rumble!!!Thank you Matt for making this video and all the time! Very 😎 cool!
Nice job. It looks great on that stand
Morning Matt, you should be proud of what you have achieved so far and looking forward to watching your next video
A nice hose is always nice 😁
Nice to see some find the miracle of the speedy sleeve
Oh so that's the name of it. I'll look it up
Read up on V belt sizes. That's why that factory belt is so wide compared to that narrow belt.
There are many sizes of Vee belts. Not just the width of the back but also the angle of the sides and the overall depth. Alig ing the sheaves is important but check the alignment of the various shafts for parallel. Probably won't be a big deal on this but something to keep in mind.
Sure looks a whole lot better! It's amazing how you remember how this all goes back together!
Thank you for another great video, well worth the wait.
It must be weird having people excitedly waiting for your videos to drop.
It amazes me what you've achieved, looks great, can't wait to hear it run. Good luck!
Oh, i have been waiting for this one, thanks Matt.
Given all the work you're doing on these machines, it might be time to invest into a lathe and knee mill =)
Great video Matt...coming along very nice...can't wait for the next installment :)
nice to have the video to go back to , we all have THOSE moments ...was it this or that ?
I have enjoyed your rebuilds . The talk is reassuring of ...what if , I will be looking forward to the next leg of this rebuild journey .
Really enjoyed this series. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Looks like northwest hillbillies are pretty smart and skilled
Looking forward to the start.
Looking good bro. Can’t wait to see it run!
Great job
I really appreciate you recording your efforts on these projects. I look forward to every one of your videos. Thank you!
Thanks Matt, interesting and fun video.😊
Great job, great series follow on to your dozer rebuild. You remind me of the rebuilds I used to do with my brother in law, though you are much more careful and have better results.
Great work Matt! Bring on next week! Charlie’s looking good! 🇦🇺🍺🍺
Nice job so far. It’s been fun joining you in the rebuild. 😊
Great progress!
Man, that spider looked like a man-eater to me, lucky escape 😀 🕷️
Great progress Matt, the end is in sight.
Raise those front mount posts to level out the engine.
Thank you for the great video's, you are really helping me with my own fixes on my EX100-3. Good work Matt. Every weekend checking to see if theres a new Build video out. Today there was. Yay
I’ve enjoyed watching your rebuild of this excavator, so when will we see you body rebuilding. Thank you for sharing your hard work!! Great job!!
Well, it was supposed to be the last engine rebuild episode but it looks like there's going to be another one and that's great for us subs.
I've really enjoyed watching that engine going from something most people would scrap to a masterfully rebuild engine that'll be a workhorse for a long time.
Great to see a new vid from you. You are doing a super job on this rebuild. I know you are tired of it, but I think it is super fun to watch.
You and me need to invest in a good lathe
Great content....been following all your builds....could probably weld spacers between the stand and the casters, permanently raising the engine stand frame to fit over your hoist...
Great work. And love the not too drawn out content. Just subscribed
Those heat shrink clamps look awesome. I need to replace a vacuum hose on my car. I may give those a try.
Looks Great - Looking forward to seeing it running.

This has been fun to go along with you.
43:31 My favourite shop tool, the blue flame "drill" ...
Well nice to see you’re getting there,SPIDER! 😂😂😂😂
I have to admit you're a joy to watch, your attention to detail is fascinating and because of that you've earned my respect. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
WOOOHOOOO, A NEW EXCAVATOR VIDEOOO
Been waiting for this.
Nice Matt
