Did you notice she was dancing inside different parts of the motorcycle? She starts off in the engine, then she appears inside the headlights & finally the stereo😂 Normani drew inspiration from the choreography of "More than a Woman" for her video "Wild Side ft. Cardi B" which also samples "One in a Million" by Aaliyah. The director of this video says it was very expensive to make back then. This was meant to be her 2nd single from her 2001 album but they switched it to "Rock the Boat" because it was gaining popularity quick. This video was released after she passed. The reason, primarily, why this ended up being the 3rd single was because Aaliyah was fighting her label tooth and nail to have “Rock The Boat” as the 2nd single. But because this was produced by Timbaland, they wanted this one. So she filmed both (this in July of 2001, then Rock the boat in August, of course).
Yea she shot the Video in LA then flew straight to the Bahamas to film Rock the Boat

A few cameos in the music video as well: Rashida & Kidada Jones. They are sisters and also daughters of Quincy Jones. Aaliyah & Kidada were best friends. Kidada was also engaged to 2pac at the time of his death. DJ & Producer Mark Ronson is the guy on the turntables in the video spinning her album. He was a Tommy Hilfiger endorser in 1997 at the same time Aaliyah was. And also, Queen Latifah's current partner, Eboni Nichols, is one of Aaliyah's backup dancers.

In the UK, this became the 2nd (or 1st?) Posthumous #1 from an Artist after John Lennon, and both went #1 within the same month lol.
Also, the DJ Mark Ronson is the dj in the video, and both the actress Rashida Jones (Quincy Jones’ daughter) and her sister Kidada Jones (who was Aaliyah’s best friend) were in this. Mark Ronson was in this because he was dating Rashida at the time.

If you love dancing, you have to check out a lot of Janet's performances. One of my favorites is Janet's Top of the Pops performance of " Got til it's gone" the 1998 AMA performance of " Together Again"," Rock with u" which has some of the sickest , slickest choreo ever and her MTV ICON performance of "All for you", start there then you can dive into the music videos!

She went ahead and filmed this music video in early August of 2001 because of the record company didn't even want her to film this music video they wanted rock the boat that same month and rock the boat music video was filmed on August 22nd on up til her death on August 25th 2001
What I always loved about Aaliyah is that she never changed herself. No boob jobs, no butt implants, none of that. She was a natural beauty and was happy in her own skin. ❤
