I thought my progress was slower than what others here experienced. I lost 25% of my body weight and I think my pancreas and liver were busy keeping up with the changes. So I accept the slow progress because this is a lifestyle change made until the end of my days on this earth. Also, I feel absolutely wonderful! No aches and pains, no blood pressure spikes! Anyone that’s struggling…please please hang in there!
Thanks for all of us having a slow go of it. I realize this will take time and effort on my part not especially easy as lifestyle is being changed thanks again.
It has been a frustrating 6 months, I am not new to Keto, started it 8 years ago, I dropped 9 lbs, but losing weight was not my goal. My A1C dropped from 9.0 to 5.7 in just 3 months. In 2021 after vaccinations , both Bp and BS shot up. I have been diligently monitoring, counting carbs, it has been the same amount for all these years at 50-60 gms max per day. Recently I made a slight improvement of .3 points at 7.2. My Bp is not in control at all, decided to go on medication now. I can’t put a finger on how to tackle this situation. Fasting BS at 160, after food is 184 even if do some exercises. Now I am staying calm because doc says I am fine , complications will not arise at this level. So my progress has been slow after this sudden surge.
I’ve been low carb for 3 years. It sure can be puzzling. My blood pressure went high one day. I assumed I may have been eating too much salt. I stopped everything with salt like cheese and bacon. My sugar started going high. I decided to fast. 24 hours into my fast my sugar was still very high. I had no idea what was going on. Then I saw a video on salt and they mentioned that salt is related to blood glucose. So when I added sea salt back in(too taste), my sugar came back down.
When I started eating low carb and intermittent fasting, my A1C was 14.0…this was a year and half ago. My daily carb intake is 50 g or less. My fasting blood sugars run 90 to 110. My current A1C is 6.0. I have had periods where I eat only meat, and it does not change. My weight has dropped from 240lbs to 200. But my A1C REFUSES to go below pre-diabetes level no matter what I do. I’m doing as Dennis suggests. I’m trusting the process. The one factor I’m struggling with is STRESS. I’ve noticed my stress level impacts my blood glucose a great deal. Also lack of sleep.
Oddly, Dennis recently downplayed the importance of stress. I'm mystified, as Mike the Meter has confirmed that my glucose tends to run higher in stressful times...
An A1C of 6.0 indicates an AVERAGE blood glucose of almost 140. There is more going on that what you have told us. If you have readings of 100 then sometime you also have reading of 180 to achieve that 140 average
Repair mode is my middle name. My progress was not a quickie deal. It took me 2 years to join the 6 club, and then a year of challenges to join the 5 club. My advice is to continue eating as low carb as possible and continue watching videos from Dennis, Dr. Westman, Dr. Fung, Dr. Berry, Dr. Bickman, etc. AND enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
I've been following your channel for some time now. Made some adjustments to my diet but wasnt consistant but in June when my glucose level spiked from in the 140s to the 200s, I knew it was time to take my health seriously. I cut carbs significantly, most fruits, cut out eating between meal. I checked my glucose level yesterday and it's down to 102mg!!!!(lowest score ever). I thank God for directing me to this channel and I thank you for all the information you shared. Continous blessing on you and your beautiful wife.
This same thing has happened to me. For the last couple of weeks my morning reading has been in the 120’s-130’s. But I’m still keeping low carb. Praying for healing!
Have your dinner by 7.00pm to 8.00pm and besides water dont have anything till 9.00 am to 10.00am . It means intermittent fasting of around 14 hours. Plus green smoothie to reduce your inflammation. Very less grains. Milk increases IGF levels. Avoid. Resistance training. Reducing visceral fat. Pkus most important besides the above 14 hours fasting. If you can fast for even 24 to 48 hours nothing like it. Atleast once a week. But in the process check your BP. Chia seeds water one can have once or twice a day during fasting. Most imp check what you can and cannot eat based on the glycemic index. Plus walk. Fatty foods avoid . Use olive oil. Stat away from processed foods. Along with diabetes also need to check your cholestrol LDL level and tryglycerides.
@@cawasc1284 I fast for 36 hours every week and I stop eating at 6:30. I do not eat grains or processed foods. I only eat Whole Foods. My eating window is from 12:30 to 6:00 usually. I do not have any BP problems and triglycerides and cholesterol is normal. Greens are a no for me. My body does not process most of them because they make me sick. Just about the only vegetables I can eat is cabbage and Brussel sprouts. Thanks for the advise.
I've experienced something like this during the last year when I moved to low carb and intermittent fasting; overall sugar is lower, but early on noticed that I had some steeper highs than I should have been getting eating just meat and cheese dishes. In my case, I discovered that I'm sensitive to caffeine, which tends to raise my blood sugar, sometimes by 20-30 points. So if you're seeing high numbers and drinking coffee, even the bulletproof kind, lay off it for a few days and see what happens. I had to move to teas and half-calf coffees, and limit myself to like one cup of coffee a day most times. Another thing I discovered is that beans, even though they're supposed to be good for diabetics, raised my sugar too. Even though its mostly fiber, the carbs in beans still raise my sugar pretty high if I have too much, so I had to be careful eating them as well. Interrupted sleep affects my sugar too; I'm bad to wake up for no reason at odd hours of the morning and not be able to get back to sleep, and my sugar is often higher than normal when I do finally get out of bed (right now, my normal range is somewhere in the 130-140s most days, increasing anywhere to 150s to 170s on sleep interrupted days). I'm wondering too if its partly just fat burning off and releasing some stored sugar sometimes, too. I've lost over 40 pounds this year, and sometimes, for a few days at a time, I just couldn't figure out why my sugar was running high, then it'd normalize back down, seemingly with no reason.
Some coffee brands make my blood glucose go up. No cream. Dr peter Osborne has some info on cross reactivity to glutens and other similar things. There’s also hidden glutens in mfg processes. He also sells a brand called Purity coffee that is tested for such things. It’s pricey but might be worth checking out.
The beans need to go, they will raise your BS . You can probably get by with small servings of green beans, but leave off the other varieties of beans.
I had to drop beans. I can only eat green beans or a few beans in soup. Read the carb labels and focus on TOTAL CARBS, keeping total carbs on the low side.
@@Momtocam1997That's right, no grains, no rice, no wheat products, no potatoes or potato products no corn or corn products also drop all seed oils and vegetable oils.
I started in 1st of February 2023 A1C was 14. I didn't want insulin so I knew I had to do something different. I was lucky enough to find Beat Diabetes. The first 3 months I bounced around highs lower but all over. Trust the process is true. 3 more months (July) I was at 7.5. I wanted more kept tight to low carb IF. In October I was at 6.5. Wow I wanted lower. Now end of November my daily numbers are 79 to 112. So I believe my A1C will be lower. I had a day here and there after eating my number might be high but over all staying low. I've been trying to add a few things to my meals. I am so happy and will continue. I still watch Beat Diabetes often. Older videos and the new. Nothing wrong with reminders! Stick to it! Your body will change.
Eating late is not a good idea for your morning blood glucose numbers. Your digestion slows when you sleep and is even slower if it is a high protein, generous fat meal. Some people who have had high blood glucose can also have delayed stomach emptying. You may not even be "fasted" when you wake up. I have an hour by hour blood glucose management issue and things got A LOT easier when I went very low carb and better still when I stopped eating anything at least 4 hour before sleep.
Omg I needed to hear this ! My fasting insulin level is 5.5 which is low. My A1c is still 7.0. I also get some highs but my body is repairing. I know it’s frustrating but I need to keep on trying ! ❤
Just tested. 4.8 mmol/ L That's 86.4. I've been battling for T2 for 10 years. Also I haven't had a cigarette for 51 day's. After 44 years of hardcore smoking.
It took me over a year to reduce my fasting glucose from 220 down to 110-120.... while taking meds. Now my glucose is still in the 110-120 (5.4 to 5.9 A1C) and I am off the meds. It does work... it just takes a while.
Thank you Dennis! It is a life long struggle and learning. One way I educate and remind myself about diabetes is by reading great comments given here in your website. They are very useful! In particular, if you have in addition a high blood pressure and or/ kidney disease, drinking too much water once could be damaging in particular to your kidneys and eyes.
These last few videos have been GREAT! Thank you for being a straight talker. Nothing flowery, nothing extra or unneeded-direct talk! Thank you, fellow Texan!
I was thin on a SAD diet with A1c 5.8. I went on a low carb 60g/ carnivore diet and 3 months later it was 5.8 again even thinner. Went to 0-10g carb carnivore diet 3 more months (have a “six pack now”) and my A1c is 6. I’m now an LMHR with sky high LDL and total cholesterol. I will say, that I never felt better in my life. I plan to have a purple potato once a day and will stay under 75g (I think) carb. I am fasting one 24 hour period a week. Hope A1c goes down next check (as well as LDL)
I found with a long term diabetic I worked with (age 70+) that when they went low carb, their blood sugar would spike overnight so the blood sugar test first thing in the morning was higher than normal (which was disheartening for her). There's information online on this effect. Anyway she found a good way to deal with that was for them to do some exercise first thing in the morning (in that person's case it was a morning walk). That would then bring down the blood sugar levels not only soon after but throughout the rest of the day. That was good motivation to then remain on the low carb regime. So for her the key was to stay on the program and a little exercise in the morning (light exercise) to deal with the morning spike!
I've discovered that some food products I had been used to buying had changed ingredients like adding soy bean oil which causes inflammation in me. Meter tells me it makes a difference. So check on ingredients in your "go to" prepackaged foods.
When my BS went up unexpectedly I knew I was developing an infection (cold or allergies) but 2 days later was diagnosed with Covid. Because I was healthier now it was gone in 2 days. I am 71 and use BS as a possible barometer 😄
I saw progress for the first 6 weeks but now my story is just like the guy you read about. I'm so discouraged. Funny how this video came out at this time for me.
Thanks to Dennis, and Dr Fung 4 years ago I started intensive IF (OMAD and low carbs under 50. Within 3 months I was down to A1c 5.9. 4 years later it is at 5.1 to 5.3 even though I have loosened up a bit on IF and carbs below 50 still. The double combination was what did it for me, not just low carbs.
I found this channel a short time ago and decided to try it. Since i tried to eat the way the doctor said and my A1C went down for six months andvi lost about 25 pounds and the next six months i lost 25 more pounds but the blood sugar staid the same. So I started eating low carb and my blood sugar was down. Until recently it sttarted going up. I decided to just stay low carb to see if it was just my body getting rid of sugar it already had. My BMI has went down from a little over 29 down to a little over 21 and my weight went from a little over 200 down to 148. I still have fat i need to get off, but it is a lot better than it was. My doctor said I am pre-diabetic, and I am hoping to stay that way. It is hard to really understand everything considering blood sugar can go up even though I havent eaten anything and can go down right after I eat. I may not understand what is happening, but it makes sense to just keep going. The benefit so far is my blood sugar never goes as high as it did before I started eating low carb and more fat.
If you're doing intermittent fasting and trying to lose weight, fat burned turns into sugar which might make your blood glucose higher especially in the mornings. That's what's been happening with me i believe. I was getting scared for a while cuz I was eating pretty low carb but still saw fasting blood sugars slightly over 120 mg/do after 20 hours fasting every day. But my numbers during the rest of the day are pretty normal and my a1c is still in the high 4s. So I'm holding steady.
Thanks for this Dennis! The Anne Mullens article describes me to a "T". Any thoughts on why my BG is higher while in a fasted state and after a vigorous workout? Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Dennis, love your videos was wondering if you have ever ate a hi-carb meal and then tried to bring your numbers down using lets say doing 10 reps of 25lbs dumbell each arm and then possibly 10 squats body weight only do you think this would curb the effects of a insulin spike?
One thing I didn’t hear you say and didn’t notice any comments on either is resistive weight training. My morning blood sugar has been higher than I’d like but not like the guy you talk about, I was just over 100 and would rather see low 80s before a meal and I just started adding weight training back into my routine and looks like it’s starting to help. Muscles do need glucose when they are worked hard and they will take it in and lower blood sugar.
I’ve been wanting u to educate the public about this for awhile. I couldn’t get my A1C below 5.8. I was at 10.0 at diagnosis. So I chose to take insulin and run around a 5.2. I know it’s better for my long term health.
You give me hope. I am type 2 diagnosed 3 years ago. I inject slow acting insulin and even when I eat low carb my glucose bounces up and down. But I'm about to go super low carb/ carnivore ,intermittent fasting and pray that helps me. Thank you
The liver makes all the glucose we need. Sometimes too much. Could be the liver finally getting rid of pancreatic fat. Maybe your doctor can help. See if he will give the right tests. Are triglycerides below 80? Is fasting insulin and C peptide good? Is blood glucose good after a very low carb meal later in the day? Are you under extreme stress or distress? Is your sleep good?
I once has blood glucose test came out as 16 mmol/L (288 mg/dl). Then the HbA1c was a normal 5.4. The cause was an infusion of prednisone. The infusion has also messed up my cholesterol levels. At least that was in hospital where the are aware the prednisone can mess up the readings.
Good advice... My hba1c has crept up to 5.4%.... Using libre cgm to undestand my sugar values. ...60g almonds spiking my sugar to 110mg/dl.... Cutting out more carbs now...
Often enough people think they could up their protein intake without care but excess protein may also triggers gluconeogenesis and spikes insulin too. Especially eating the last meals late at night.
It was last august my sugar was 11.2 my doctor told me if my sugar will still the same I will have insulin . I said no ma’am after that I did exercise 5-6 times a week Low carb diet . Calorie deficit and no soda a lot of food I sacrifice. When I came back two days ago my sugar was 5.9 my doctor told me I have an awesome result. I’m still in progress but I am getting there thank you Dennis I always watch your videos I learned a lot by watching you.
Please be careful with meat. I had two meals of beef and made me constipated, very severe pain. The N.P gave me Senokot and the medicine worked. As you get older the system does not work as well. Most people with diabeties have CKD.
I sympathize with your emailer. I've had t2 for 15 years and kept A1C around 6.4%. Recently, I went to live in the UK where you are not considered to be diabetic at 6.7% 48 mm/mol. I've been eating low carb starting with your notes a few years ago. My doctor has now stopped my Metformin without consulting me and now by instantaneous glucose is very high. I've made my carb diet tighter and tighter but still remain high going over 240 mmol/mol
I went to sleep at 11:30pm with blood glucose 84 mg/dl and woke up at 07:30am with 100mg/dl. Is it pre diabetes? If i test it after 20 mins upon waking it reads around 90 mg/dl. I don't understand this
I woke up with my glucose over 500. It has been high for awhile and on Keto, Carnivore, Low carb and now Nutri System. I am already taking 220 units a day on a concentrated Humalog. I fail to call my Endocrinologist because they increase my insulin which just makes my weight higher and sugar worse. I have said, just trust the process and I admit, I am not patient. I am getting off Nutri System this week and going back to Keto. Thank you.
When I 1st started, I remembered my glucose levels those first 3 weeks 180, 190, but I also remembered the 4th week 130, 120, been 220Lbs slowly coming down to 180Lbs within 7 months My A1c went from a 6.2 to 5.4, please don't give up, I pray: God will help.
My mirning glucose was going down to the 80s and 90s, then suddenly popped up to the 110s. Knowing I am probably burning fat off my pancreas or liver is so encouraging. October hbA1c was 9.3. Last week it was 5.6. I hope to eventually get to 5.0! Consistency is definitely the key.
My beginning went better than now, too. BUT I will keep after this...I'm better than I was. And I think like what you said, that in time this will be better again. One person on your comments said it took them three years to beat their dawn effect. If I keep adjusting to cutting my carbs, and what my sugar is---is coming from my body's stores---they gotta get used up to get gone.
This is me. Ive been low carb for over 2 years. Under 30 carbs a day But my fasting blood sugars are still in the 120s every morning. A1c still pre-diabetic range.
Check your fasting insulin. If your doctor doesn't want to order one, you can get the test yourself (it costs about $12). Your pancreas may be producing too little insulin. If it's close to 0, you may need to inject a little slow-acting insulin. If it's not zero, but still very low, you may need to increase carbs at least a few days a week (not by a lot, just 50 grams a day are enough) to trigger the insulin response. Dr Rob Cywes has talked about how some of his long term carnivore patients have experienced a little blood glucose rise and it was corrected by (1) adding a little bit of carbs a few days a week and (2) dividing the protein into several meals a day instead of having just 1 meal a day. Some people are very sensitive to high doses of protein at once and do better to have
Low thyroid function driving gluconeogenesis. High cortisol and adrenalin is what shuts down thyroid, its a survival response to chronic stress or environmental crises (eg: all the plants are dead...). Low carb did this to me. Fruit added back in fixed it but it took about 4 months.
If you go to this videos “Description”, Dennis has a link to a great article on what he discusses in this video. Within that article there is a highlighted link to an article on “Dawn Phenomenon”.
Excess protein also raises blood glucose. It turns to sugar through a process called gluconeogenesis. If you're not making progress, change your macros: eat MORE FAT and LESS PROTEIN. BTW I am speaking from my own experience.
Monday my glucose fasting morning test was 92. Monday is my no carb day. Tuesday morning fasting test was 61! Normal low carb diet. Except added Keto Connect's keto coconut chedder cheese biscuit! Wednesday fasting glucose reading was 63! Yeah To bring glucose up I enjoy Remedy kombucha 4g carbs for 8.5 fl oz. If this continues for the week, I will lower my evening insulin injection.
I was on low carb for two years every thing was great lost over 100lbs got off all my diabetes meds then same thing happened to me my sugar kept rising and I couldn't control it. I went back on metformin still struggling went carnivore to keep carbs super low and still waking up with reading around 250. My endo done an auto-immune panel and a c-peptide test found out that I tested positive for auto immune antibody GAD65 and now I have been diagnosed with LADA diabetes 1.5 and back on long acting insulin and said within 2 years I would be on insulin after each meal for the rest of my life. I would encouraged if you are struggling get your c-peptide test. eye opening. For sure.
2 years in and my fasting glucose level is getting higher. 150 or higher every morning. My A1C has jumped up to 6.3 from 5.7. Been this way for 6 months now. Very disappointing. Hope I can get it to change. Gaining weight now. Heaviest I have been in 20 years.
I am in the same boat as you. My thoughts now lie with the concept of "personal fat threshold". I had been low carb for 2 years, lost 30 pounds, blood sugar was excellent, then slowly over the next two years I gained back 25 pounds and my glucose is now 150-180 in the morning and bottoms out to maybe 110 during the day/evening if I am lucky. I'm trying to lose the weight again, but my will power is just gone. So check out the personal fat threshold concept, and hopefully you have the will to lose the weight and make a difference.
Just watched the movie, killers of the flower moon. Apart from the tragedy of thè greed driven murders, it was awful to see the havoc wreaked on the osage by diabetes. I hope the current generation are watching beat diabetes!
Also, sleep 8 hours each night and do not stress, if possible do jot use the phone alarm or click alarm in the morning. Exercise at a low I tensity so that the heart rate not to excede 120 per min.
I’ve been low carb for a while with 80s bs, started dealing with sciatica pain my bs went up to 140s. I was taking all kinds of ibuprofen. Doctor gave me steroids. My bs came down eventually but still dealing with sciatica. 😢
Hi I can only go by what works for me but long relaxing walks seems to accelerate my progress. I do this on top of the ketosis low carb therapy dietary practices. Just my best to share. I know how scary when doctors tell us there is no hope. I do manage with out medication at this time and even though the doctor gave me a clean bill of health that's because they check and treat symptoms and I am maintaining the organs that are at the root of the problem when they get damaged. I know that if I return to my old habits I will return to bad health. Like I said walking has worked for me with those weird spikes that make no sense. Hope some how this helps.
I am one of those real long haulers and my BS this morning was 139. I have to eat very low carb in fact I eat carnivore with very few berries once and awhile. My body was in very bad shape and in the 6 months on carnivore I have only lost about 30 pounds and have a good 50 to go. I was doing dirty keto before that but the processed keto foods were messing me up. My blood sugars were way up there then so people may just have to go to 0 carb to get their body to heal. I am in for the long haul and made a pact with myself that I would evaluate in a year but I feel better so I am certain I would not go back to meds and insulin.
i was scared too. Now I beliebe this is what happened: Your tissues/organs/muscles are used to using glucose. They are not ready to use fat. Therefore the body will try to supply glucose by using the stored glycogen in liver or protein or fat to make glucose. It will try to keep the glucose level higher to ensure that there is enough supply since therer is lower locally stored glucose. the body decides to over correct the situation. Note that there used to be glucose storage at the tissues/organs/muscles locally, but now they are gone since you are not eating carbs. All supply has to be supplied through blood glucose which is a low-rate supplier. The body needs to raise the glucose level to compensated the portion that was used to be supplied by the local storage. I think either you may do what are suggested in this video, or you may need to cut the carbs more gradually. Let the tissues/organs/mussels to store more local fat and get used to using fat, then when the glucose usage becomes lower, the body will not need to raise the glucose level to supply glucose throgh blood stream. Do not try to achieve the goal in a short period of time. Cut the carbs by half first for a few weeks, then cut to one quarter for a few weeks ... etc until you can slide into the desired result.
11:40 or, is the pancreas overloaded with fatty tissue, and not functioning efficiently? More exercise might be an effective strategy for some to clear some excess blood sugar. Muscle tissue doesn't require insulin to do that.
First of all, your doctor is not telling you the correct thing, and if it were me and my doctor told me that I would look for a new doctor!! Your doctor is not doing you any favors saying what he or she said to you! Dennis is correct with his thoughts! Don't give up and stick with it, it may take a while for your liver and pancreas to start acting normal again!!! The same thing happened to me, especially my fasting glucose started spiking, and the doctor told me that my liver is dumping sugar early in the morning (it is part of the Dawn Phenonium), eventually your liver will stop dumping sugar overnight into your blood stream. This happens especially if you are doing intermittent fasting. I remember that when I first started my low carb journey a little over 2 years ago that my glucose was good during the daytime after I ate some breakfast (90 to 120), but overnight my glucose would spike to 170 to 190 sometimes over 200). Finally, after a year of sticking with low carb my fasting glucose straitened itself out and now my fasting glucose is somewhere between 70 to around 98! Sometimes 107 to 110 but not often. Also, if you are type 2 diabetic like me and you are taking meds like I was I started getting hypos, so my doctor told me to stop taking my meds (that I probably didn't need them anymore). (Metformin and glyburide), so after I stopped taking my meds, I remember my blood glucose spiked to 190 and the doctor told me to start making a log and writing of my fasting blood sugar when I wake up in the morning, before breakfast, before dinner, and before bedtime. What I had to do was temporarily go back on my meds and start weaning myself off the meds, first I weaned myself off of the glyburide and after my blood sugar stabilized, I started getting low blood sugar in the morning again I started weaning myself off of the Metformin too, now I am completing off of the meds and my blood sugar is between 70 to 100. Sometimes I get hypos before dinner but at least I know that it is not the meds causing the hypos. So, what I do is take my reading around 3:00 to 4:00PM and eat an earlier dinner instead of 4:30 or 5:00PM I eat between 3:30 to 4:00PM. Then I fast until the next morning until around 9:00AM, sometimes I fast until 11:00AM or 12:00PM. Also, my last part of my personal advice (please remember this is just my experience and that I am NOT a doctor, but I was working closing with my doctor), is if you are buying packaged Keto stuff I would cut all the packaged Keto bread and snacks out of your diet because sometimes when I would eat some of the Keto packaged food it is dirty Keto and my blood sugar would spike, so I make all my bread, bagels, and snacks, etc.) and my blood sugar has stabilized!!! I had my A1c lab just last week and I went from 5.5 to now 5.1, so my A1c keeps going in the right direction now!!!! Good luck on your journey, and remember to be persistent and don't give up, it could take a while before your blood sugar stabilizes, (it took a long time for your body and blood sugar to get out of control and it may take a year or two to normalize again)! I keep on doing Dennis' challenge every time he offers it and I have gone from an A1c of 10 down to a 5. I don't plan on stopping eating low carb ever again and allowing myself to become a diabetic ever again!
I'm on insulin for 16 years and doing my best to cutoff insulin completely but I have failed for the last 2 years. Without insulin I cannot manage and discourages me.
Sometimes when you have elevated glucose. It could be that you are not feeling well. A possible infection or something else can cause it as well. I have this issue when I get the flu or something along that line. I also have noticed that my glucose changes through the coarse of a month. 1/3 of the month it is easy to stay low. 2/3 it is okay but I have to watch what I eat more carefully. 3/3 part of the month it can be a real battle to control the spikes.
Remember that cortisol also raises blood sugar so if you’re under stress and who isn’t- your blood sugar might increase a little bit due to that try some meditation prayer, pet your animal, dog or cat or whatever to try to bring your stress levels down also ashwagandha helped me a little bit. One Internet friend said he played a war type video game and his glucose went up almost 100 points and stayed there most of the day.
For those of us who had eaten a diet full of carbs and wrong possible carbs at that for decades it will be a long road. So even though you feel you have improved and yet your pancreas and liver hard at work still pumping out the sugar you have stored all that time. You are not doing something wrong , you just need to stay the course. During this time time period if you still drink alcohol you have to drop it and you will see the change in your morning readings. If you have not advanced to OMAD you may need to consider it and even longer intermittent fasting to see results.
I have been getting the same high numbers also over the past year! But I still believe in the process! Think pancreas and liver. Less carbs is the future for all of us!
Some people start to replacing sugar with those substitutes and they contein maltodextrin that is 1000 times worst than sugar it self. Need to check the product description for maltodextrin even sugar free gum.
happened to me. Numbers getting worse as carbs get lowered.Turns out i was a misdiagnosed type two. I am a lada or 1.5 diabetic. Low carb is still helpful but not producing enough insulin cant be fixed by diet alone. consult a good dr
Personally, I've found that when I fast my BG rises quite dramatically. However, when I eat a small meal, BG comes down. My CGM helps me with this. It seems to me that when one fasts, insulin drops off, so, apart from exercise, there's no way to clear BG. I've found eating small high fat meals (like cheese, cream in coffee etc) a number of times a day is more effective in keeping my BG down. This could be why the FMD is effective, not only to stimulate ketosis, but to also help with BG regulation.
I eat pretty healthy and my carbcount was 50 or less daily. But my blood sugar was high 190’s to 250/300 sometimes. HOWEVER, l was “sugar free”queen. Artificial Sweetener sent my blood sugar skyrocketing. I used too much A.S. during the day. l cut artificial sweeteners cold turkey and my sugar fell into the green zone in 2 weeks. Now, l very seldom see blood sugar higher than 150 even after a meal. Aspertame, malodextrin, sucralose, sugar free drinks, etc was wreaking havoc on my blood sugar levels…
I feel so very sad. The more I hear success I'm getting more sad. I want to cut off insulin but not able to.
@@merlyndamianose5795 hang in there. Som etimes it just takes time.
Great advice… I just need to eat low carb and know I am doing all I can.. I just hang in there..
Keep going! Stress is a huge factor it affects everyone's glucose levels
You can do it!
Drop your TOTAL carbs per day to 20. You will see lower blood sugar and A1c numbers.
Dr. Eric Berg too!
Do some exercise in the morning eg a walk to bring down the morning numbers. It works
Co10, Berberine and benfoitimine can help lower glucose and a1c numbers also.
@@melmoland6686 I just started taking the berberine. I will check into the other two suggestions. Thanks for sharing.
Wheat is a huge thorn for me. So absolutely no grains at all. Interrupted sleep is another thorn.
🥀🦃🥀 With gratitude, Dennis and Benedicta, just for being you (both as individuals and as a couple)! 🥀🦃🥀
thanks for the idea. must try praying to JESUS TOO
Eating late is not a good idea for your morning blood glucose numbers.
4.8 mmol/ L
That's 86.4. I've been battling for T2 for
10 years.
Also I haven't had a cigarette for 51 day's. After 44 years of hardcore smoking.
So proud of you, great job!
Congrats.
Hope you’re keeping up the no smoking. Good job.
@sheilatorres1908 so far 9 weeks.
It took me over a year to reduce my fasting glucose from 220 down to 110-120.... while taking meds. Now my glucose is still in the 110-120 (5.4 to 5.9 A1C) and I am off the meds. It does work... it just takes a while.
thank you for this ❤
I notice my glucose goes up if i exercise before eating, best for me is walking after eating
I needed to hear this, I did go through something similar from 109 to 135 out of the blue. This is so frustrating.
Greetings from Ethiopia. That was very effective. Thank you, Dennis.
It's called the "Dawn Affect" . Just a natural boost of adrenaline in the morning to start your day. Don't fret, just take a reading in the afternoon.
@@melmoland6686 hi. Yes it is!
Your channel is very helpful; I've been referring family/friends along to your info. Much appreciated
I had the same issue and staying the course worked. That worked for me. It takes time and its very frustrating. Best of luck
Sometimes there is a low- grade infection that has not been detected e.g. a chronic UTI causing elevated blood sugars.
Thank you for sharing your experience. This is comforting to hear.
Thanks for this Dennis! The Anne Mullens article describes me to a "T". Any thoughts on why my BG is higher while in a fasted state and after a vigorous workout? Happy Thanksgiving!
Blood sugars usually go up immediately after a vigorous workout, and then later trend downwards!
My sugars do the same!
Hi Dennis, love your videos was wondering if you have ever ate a hi-carb meal and then tried to bring your numbers down using lets say doing 10 reps of 25lbs dumbell each arm and then possibly 10 squats body weight only do you think this would curb the effects of a insulin spike?
I absolutely love your illustrations and stories.
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Mr Dennis
After several challenges, I ve had slower decrease ... finally had a1c 6.4 in October....stay with plan!
More great information. Thanks, Dennis!

Thank you for this video. This has answered why my blood sugars elevated!
This has happened to me a few times this year. It's so very frustrating!
Thank you
God bless you!
Great video again Dennis

I once has blood glucose test came out as 16 mmol/L (288 mg/dl). Then the HbA1c was a normal 5.4. The cause was an infusion of prednisone. The infusion has also messed up my cholesterol levels. At least that was in hospital where the are aware the prednisone can mess up the readings.
Happy Thanksgiving
Good advice...
My hba1c has crept up to 5.4%....
Using libre cgm to undestand my sugar values. ...60g almonds spiking my sugar to 110mg/dl....

Thank you.
Thank you, Dennis.
I need to hear this!
Thanks!
I’m doing so well🎉😊
I can relate because I've been stuck like this also, make you upset because you are doing everything right.

This is me. Ive been low carb for over 2 years. Under 30 carbs a day
But my fasting blood sugars are still in the 120s every morning.

Try out a regular exercise regiment. It burn glucose and make you stronger overall. Be regular and don't overdo it.
Do talk about the Dawn effect some more. Does a regular dawn phenomenon affect the hba1c in the long run?

Acetaminophen (the stuff in Tylenol) raises my blood sugar.
Tylenol is very destructive to the liver
Excess protein also raises blood glucose. It turns to sugar through a process called gluconeogenesis. If you're not making progress, change your macros: eat MORE FAT and LESS PROTEIN.

Do you exercise at all?
I am in the same boat as you. My thoughts now lie with the concept of "personal fat threshold". I had been low carb for 2 years, lost 30 pounds, blood sugar was excellent, then slowly over the next two years I gained back 25 pounds and my glucose is now 150-180 in the morning and bottoms out to maybe 110 during the day/evening if I am lucky. I'm trying to lose the weight again, but my will power is just gone. So check out the personal fat threshold concept, and hopefully you have the will to lose the weight and make a difference.
Stress, high cortisol also affect glucose response ❤❤

Can’t an infection somewhere in your body raise blood sugar as some medications?
Thank you.
Not in the Japanese market. Now down from crash in 1987 for 36 years!
How do we know pancreas making low or highly Insulin??
For those of us who had eaten a diet full of carbs and wrong possible carbs at that for decades it will be a long road. So even though you feel you have improved and yet your pancreas and liver hard at work still pumping out the sugar you have stored all that time. You are not doing something wrong , you just need to stay the course. During this time time period if you still drink alcohol you have to drop it and you will see the change in your morning readings. If you have not advanced to OMAD you may need to consider it and even longer intermittent fasting to see results.
What do you mean by time restricted eating??
Drinking too much water also!
